this truck is easly towable. this truck really isnt all that big compared to commercial trucks. its just a medium duty truck. they have tow trucks that tow heavy duty tractor trailers and what not. dont see why they couldnt tow this little thing.
@tylerboyer78248 жыл бұрын
well if it was in a city environment the heavy haulers are not going to be easily moved around. in theory it would be able to tow this truck but it wouldn't be possible in a parking situation due to the size of the wrecker compared to that of the street and other cars that would be on the road. the heavy haul wreckers are more ment for the highways. from what i have seen.

the "slidy wheel tow truck thing" is called a Landoll Rob... They can handle the most weight of any trailer. Upwards of 75,000 pounds. Very common in heavy equipment transport
@jfdb598 жыл бұрын
Interesting series. But in all fairness, you don't NEED all this equipment to transport it. A hot shotter with a class 3 dually and a gooseneck deck-over equipment trailer could've loaded this in five minutes and been under way to anywhere. These guys were just ill-prepared. And it would be a great truck with the proper body on it for it's intended application. But yeah, as a pickup they're completely asinine.

@brocktechnology8 жыл бұрын
This is actually the standard technique for loading a vehicle on a cargo deck. The reason it seems so convoluted is because cargo decks aren't for hauling vehicles. Usually this is done because the trailer is making an empty return trip and can thus be hired much more cheaply than the proper vehicle for the job. The whole process needs to be repeated at the destination unless there's a loading ramp available which is unlikely in this case since this is a low bed and most loading ramps will be built for standard height trailers. Most of the cargoes this trailer halls are loaded and unloaded with a crane. This technique can actually get much more sketchy than this, if you're using a standard height cargo deck where the deck is approximately chest high and loading it with light tilt deck tow truck based on a 1 ton truck chassis you'll have to build a wood cribbing (or a pile of dirt depending on where you're doing it) to match the height of the tilt deck to the height of the cargo trailer. This stuff would all look pretty amazing to the uninitiated but it's just another day at work.

An F650 is technically considered commercial-grade. Since the truck was that big, it needed to be hauled on a step-deck trailer. Why that step-deck didn't have ramps is beyond me. However, the only other way to transport it, would be to hire a heavy duty tow, drop the driveshaft, and tow it that way. But at a typical $125/hr for that, the step-deck was the cheaper option. :D

LOL, the loading process is drawing a tiny crowd! It truly is what he said: a stupid truck....

Home boy showed up unprepared. They make step deck ramps every day!

This is a commercial truck, never meant to be used as a pickup. A person my height probably couldn't even open the tailgate on that thing.

Now you need to buy a Stupid Car. A lifted Aventador with mud tires would be a good start!

I seem to remember you saying you only bought it for a specific job or something like that, what was that specific task?

hey Rob, what engine does the 'Stupid Truck' have in it? 7.3? it sounds like it when you crank it up lol or just might be bc International

Blames the truck for the loading fiasco because the CDL driver wasn't professional enough to bring ramps. I'm sure the man will be happy to have his mans truck back.

Not sure how I found your channel, but interesting video and that sucks you got ripped off by a shady dealer. If you really want to see complex vehicle loading, try moving a herd M1 Abrams onto trains at a railhead. Even more complex is when one tank is disabled and has to be towed by another tank. Abrams do not fit on a train car without about a little less than half the tread sticking out over either side. They also weigh enough that they cannot only flip themselves off, but also flip the car. Pretty cool solution they had to loading your truck, but looked like they were not used to driving large vehicles onto longer vehicles. Props to them for still pulling it off and the driver directing his ground guide.

Had your fun with stupid truck, got your money back, a win-win for Rob. Owner hiring stupid transporter seems appropriate for the truck too. Someone asked why didn't they just drive it to the destination, guess they didn't see your driving impression video?

I heard after loading onto that drop deck, they then loaded onto a standard 48' flatbed. That made loading the 53' er much easier.

It's only a stupid truck if you don't use it to haul stuff.. (snowmobiles, racecar, space shuttle, etc.)

After watching this video, I now know why you bought the truck in the first place.

In the truck's defense, it started out as a commercial chassis; someone turned it into a toy.

That WAS the proper way to load the truck... Calling out a lowboy or rolloff wrecker eliminates the need for ramps... Guys do this all the time... They'll call call out a wrecker... give the guy $60-$100 and load the equipment... and do the same on the receiving end... THERE was absolutely nothing unusual about this. Most of the time, if your luckey, you can find a loading dock and just back up to it and do the same exact thing... but I guess if your no a trucker then you wouldn't understand this...

It is meant to tow. Not to be towed.

Glad you come out "whole" ! Yes, a pickup box on a F650 is stupid ! Even if you took the bed off. there is not much you can do with such a short wheelbase F650.

I hope you'll reply because im curious how good my knowledge is. F-650 right? Did it have the 7.3 cummins or 7.0 powerstroke? Feel free to make me look dumb

That is not a pick-up. That is a commercial truck masquerading as a pick-up.
