McMahon's version was way more insulting, was original amd an all round better burn by far. Also polka dots. Calling Virgil Vincent was not Dusty getting vengeance, it was just him trying to.

Say what you will about his WWF stay, but he had 3 main feuds, against arguably the top 3 heels in the company at the time. Big Bossman (Fresh off a feud against Hogan), Randy Savage (World champ a year prior, and also fresh off a feud with Hogan), and Ted Dibiase (Top heel for the past 3 years). So Polka dots or not, he was treated pretty darn well overall, and only started jobbing out once he gave his notice, which makes perfect sense.

Dusty tried to revive the Florida territory right before he joined the WWF. The promotion was named Florida Championship Wrestling and Dusty was the first champion. One of the big feuds was with Fred Ottman, also known as Tugboat/Typhoon in the WWF and Shockmaster in WCW.

Dusty exploded in Florida as American Dream and Vince Sr had a good relationship with Eddie Graham and had traded talent for long time...Graham started turning Dusty from heel to baby face and fans popped huge and house shows business went through roof and sold out everywhere in Florida...I was working as wrestling photog and did quick interview with him in dressing room at MSG on night he wrestled Superstar Graham... Actually Prichard was wrong because most fans in msg knew Dusty from seeing Florida wrestling syndicated shows on ch 47 UHF station...The other reason was that wrestling magazines gave lot of coverage to Dusty in that time...

Growing up in the NE and only seeing the WWF on Saturday mornings I had no idea who Dusty was till he was on the WWF. Now the funny part about NJ turnpike pull over is they were pulling you over for speeding they were actually pulling you over to look for drugs using your speeding as an excuse, the New Jersey Turnpike back then was a major drug corridor, and it was actually so dangerous for a State Trooper to pull somebody over there that you had to have years of experience before they would assign you to that.

@bdr1130805 жыл бұрын
To be fair when it comes to top wrestlers from the NWA/WCW, everyone of them did have their careers ruined by the way WWF treated them. Dusty, Sting, Vader, Ron Simmons, nWo, Booker T, DDP, etc. The only person that Vince McMahon respected at all was Ric Flair. Now guys that were mid card or the undercard got a fair shake in the WWF, guys like Kevin Nash, Mick Foley, and Steve Austin. But don’t get it twisted. If Steve Austin was stone cold Steve Austin in WCW and was a multi time world champion, I would say 3 to 6 months after Austin’s debut in WWF he would be doing jobs to Al Snow and Bob Holly.

Rib or not, the Polka dots suited dusty, he pulled it off like nobody else could have, I loved dusty as a kid, shame vinnie Mac didn’t really get behind him and push him higher than he did, if they had rubbed him with hogan he would have been one of greatest superstars ever in the WWF, no doubt hulk ( who I worshipped as a kid) didn’t want to share the spotlight or give up his spot, Vince did what he always does with anyone who had a big rep before joining and rubbished him, after the million dollar man fued I seem to remember him just being another one of the mid card talents, he did the same with Dustin, after goldust Dustin got beat and trashed too, Dustin was a fantastic talent, I remember him as the “natural” in wcw before he went to the WWF, the only way to get a push from Vince is for Vince to be the guy that created ur character, Dustin pulled off goldust like his dad pulled off the polka dots, tale net like that will always shine and make whatever gimmick they get given work and they both deserved better treatment than they got from Vinnie Mac.

Dusty Rhodes is in my top 5 favorite wrestlers of all time. I feel like Dusty gets a bad wrap from fellow wrestlers he gets blamed for alot of things that I'm not to sure he really did or caused I don't know cause i wasn't there. Some wrestlers even went on a limb and said he was known to make racist comments like I said I don't cause I wasn't there. My opinion is at some point Dusty should of atleast became Intercontinental champion even though he was the type of star who didn't need a title. I wished Rhodes would of had a better run in the WWF then he did. One of the best and quickest big men of all time. R.i.p to the American Dream
