I just bought a 2024 crosstrk. This is valuable information. Thank you for posting. I will be using your affiliated inks.

I hope you have many adventures in your new crosstrek. I’m really loving the look of the redesign!

Nice and helpful video. I did something similar in my Crosstrek for camping, but I use a 28 qt ice chest to bridge the gap between the seats. You’ve given me some good ideas, especially the Plano case on the roof. Thanks for posting.

I keep the driver side passenger seat (40 of the 60/40 split) free of anything and unfolded. It is where i get in and out of bed, do stuff more freely. I know most if not all uses it for more storage space. I do roadtrips by myself most times. In the times i have a friend with me i used that space for storage and also to make room for two people sleeping area.

That’s smart! If I didn’t have my dog I would totally do that!

Loved seeing your set up! I'm working on one to leave up all summer for quick bug outs on a Friday. I've got an Outback. FYI, there are some great sleeping bags out there that aren't of the noisy, slickery material you don't like. I have one that is actually a two person bag and it's flannel and soft cotton. I'm in WY and CO for camping so even in the summer the nights can get pretty darned cold. Blankets will never keep me as warm as my bag. Love the color of your Fozzy!

I’ll have to look into those sleeping bags, thank you!

Hi. Do you know where I can find the storage boxes you used behind the passenger seat to level the mattress?

I got them at Home Depot

How much does your dog weigh? I just bought a Crosstrek and my lab is 100 lbs. I’m wondering how comfortable it will be car camping sleeping.
@outdoorsunknown11 ай бұрын
She weighs about 75lbs. If it’s just you and your dog, I think it will be plenty comfortable.

Hi! Thanks for showing us you Set-Up! May I ask which boxes you used exactly to prop up your sleeping pad behind the seats?

Hi! I used 2 Plano 16 qt. storage crates. You can get them on Amazon or Home Depot. They’re currently cheaper at Home Depot, so I would get them there. Here’s the Home Depot Link: tinyurl.com/4ub39e7y

It’s a twin size fitted sheet that I got from target, any twin size fitted sheet should work for this

Thanks for sharing. I am heading out first time in my life. I have never camped before. Because I have the same car as you, by which door are you getting in by when it’s time to call it a night
@outdoorsunknown7 ай бұрын
How exciting!! Hope you have a fun and safe trip. I like to get in and out from the driver door and I just crawl into/ from the back. I used to get in and out from the rear passenger (where my bed is located) but i found going in/out from the driver is a lot easier for me.

My wife and I camp in the back of our Crosstrek using a Luno mattress. I've thought about a rooftop tent, and I curious with you having camped both ways, which do you prefer, the back of the car or the rooftop tent?
@outdoorsunknown9 ай бұрын
I personally prefer the back of my car. I feel more secure and since I camp with my dog it’s so much easier. Having to set up the ladder with her ramp so she can get up and into the tent was such a hassle. If you camp in the back of your car, you can easily drive your car with making minor or no adjustments to your set up. With the roof top tent you have to completely break it down if you need to drive your car and then reset it once you’re back. I found this annoying when I was staying at a site for multiple days and wanted to explore the area.

Thank you for the video. I like your setup. If you would be so kind as to share sure the name of your roof rack please and your car Google Tina that you carry on top. Also. I've been thinking about getting a rooftop cargo box but I think I like your Sarah better because I can leave the rack up there and just take the box down much easier.
@outdoorsunknown6 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching! It’s a Prinsu roof rack and my car is a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Premium. The box I use on top is a riffle case by Plano. I was thinking about doing a cargo box too, but I like how low profile the riffle case is.

Hey great video! I’m a crosstrek owner as well! How did you mount the rifle case to the rack??

trailtacoma.com/2020/01/31/plano-case-install-tacoma-prinsu-rack/ This is the article I used. You essentially drill 4 holes in the box and use carriage bolts and washers to secure it. This is what I used and they were all stainless steel to prevent rust: 4 - 1 x 1/4 in carriage bolts 8 - 1/4 in washer 4 - 1/4 nylon lock nut Silicone to seal/ “water proof”

I have $200 rei gift card and want to set up my cross trek like urs. My concern is, do you sleep on your side? I want to get the exped sleeping pad but i want to get the right size. The size exped you have looks perfect for the crosstrek, but can you side sleep on it without running out of space?
@outdoorsunknown10 ай бұрын
I am a side sleeper and for me the exped is perfect, and there is still plenty of headroom! I hope this helps. Good luck with your Crosstrek setup!

@@outdoorsunknown i ended up getting the megamat 15 but they only have x-wide so 5 inches wider. In order to use it in the back i need to put both seats up. I'm considering exchanging to the exact one u have hmm
@cindynichols27 Жыл бұрын
Great show and helpful! I have the exact same Trek in the yellow plasma and Limited trim lol. Definitely subscribing. Thank you! One suggestion: please don't state everything as a question. Examples (not exact): "The Dometic jug is very convenient?" "My dog loves this dog bed?" "Air mattresses keep you from feeling the unlevel floor?" etc. It's kind of an affected manner of speech and can make you appear insecure. Women do it a lot more than men.
