Not a nail tech, but I really appreciate how you don't immediately blame a product for what may be a result of your application. You stay open minded and when you don't like a product, you are clear on whether it's because of a technical failing of the product or personal preference.

Hi! I usually do a thin layer on the natural nail with the gel first and cure before using a dual form! It helps prevent lifting!💕 I hope that helps.
@RheRheSmily4 жыл бұрын
I'll try that, thanks 💅
@avaerena29274 жыл бұрын
RheRheSmily also try using PolyGel. It’s much easier to work with than builder gel which is runny and by the time you position it on the nail properly it has started running/dripping. Dual Forms were really made for PolyGel. You can make your own PolyGel using finely milled acrylic powder (dip system acrylics work best but, I’ve used standard acrylic when I don’t want to waste product I already have) and builder gel, if you don’t have any PolyGel to hand but, make sure you mix well. You can use isopropyl alcohol as a slip solution, too.

@@avaerena2927 Yeah, I was really confused by this product bc I've only seen it used with hybrid gel.
@sunflower6434 Жыл бұрын
That is a good idea, and because there is already a layer of gel, you won’t have to try and get really close to the cuticle with the dual forms, and after you have put the full dual form on, just file the nail to a seamless surface….and you have created some-what of an apex.😊

Suzie, you have to hold the popit in place and flash cure it, then cure it fully after. If you do not, you will get that ledge every time. It needs gentle pressure during the flash cure in order to seal it onto the nail and avoid that ledge. If you go to their website, they do give you instructions on how to do this.

@vanessacardona35137 жыл бұрын
Carina, the manufacturer suggests 1 size larger so the gel covers the entire nail plate, otherwise the sidewalls would be missing product.
@CCaravasi7 жыл бұрын
I as well suggest a size just a little smaller than your actual nail so that the gel does not ooze out onto the cuticle, then you can file it into shape and then apply a little extra for the Apex and appropriate arch to build the nail. I don't think the dual forms are best used as a one application process. I think it is designed to act as a quicker method than tips or sculpting.

I remember way back in the early days of acrylic nails- I was a teenager. I was going to Homecoming I think, and wanted pretty nails. At that time there was a method of doing them at home that was SUPPOSED to be fast and easy. It entailed little (plastic?) nail forms that you would match to each finger size, much the same as in this video, only much smaller. You would put a measured amount of liquid in the form then sprinkle on the powder till it was all absorbed, wait a few seconds for it to activate then flip it over onto your nail. And then wait some more while it hardened. IF you were lucky, the liquid had been completely absorbed by the powder and you had a somewhat nail-shaped piece of pink acrylic, with no holes or voids, stuck to your finger, which you then had to sand like hell to get it to resemble a normal fingernail. I sported those bad boys to Homecoming and thought I was hot stuff- till i realized how many other girls had the same idea. Those nails were hideous, but for the time I guess they were a pretty slick innovation in the world of nails.. :)

Hi Suzie, I'm not a pro, but a home-tech.. only do friends and family. I've used Dual Forms using both acrylic and gel. I do find acrylic easier to work with. At 17:30 -re Liz's Q about French and getting the smile line in the right place.. I hold the form against my nail, then mark the back of it with a CD marking pen (as they're finer than a Sharpie) as to where I want the smile line to go, then just flip it over and work to the marked line ;) - Simples! This also works well if you want to encapsulate stones or embellishments, helps to plan the placement of them out first ;) Another lady that uses DF a lot is UNIQUENAILZ she does some amazing designs with them, lots of bling and glitter.

They soak his hands in warm water with essential oils and other yummy stuff, then they THOROUGHLY clean his nails and cuticles, remove calluses, dead skin, clip, trim, shape, and file his nails, then a 20 min each side hand massage followed by a parafin wax dip and to finish off, there is this thing the tech does where she pops his knuckles, like a hand chiropractor kinda.... Hi Suzie! I bought a set of dual forms and applied them as well...learning curve! By the middle finger you had it all correct. Thin product at the cuticle area thicker in the middle, and when applying the form you apply it at the back laying it down coming forward. There will always be a little product that oozes out of the sides, just wipe it off, also remove any product underneath. I used to do my own acrylics but have found that these are so much easier to apply, and less filing! I now use my dual forms using acrylic and not gel, also for the french nail.....if you look inside the nail form...all those lines inside..they are a guide to use when building a french. I love watching your video's, you do such fabulous work! Hugs and kisses !

Hello Suzie😁. Thanks sooo much for the videos. I am a licensed cosmetologist with over 10 years of experience and a lifetime love of nails and the beauty industry. I have recently decided to invest more time, effort and money into developing my nail skills and career. About 2 months ago I purchased this very same kit. I was just as excited as you were to try it but was not happy to see that my results were differing greatly from that of Bio Seaweed Gel’s promo video 😕. I scoured the web and KZbin to find very few people using this system. The one video I was able to find, reviewed the video and called it a fail😟. I would hate to think that I wasted my money on this system because I do like and understand the ‘dual form’ concept. I also watched every POP-IT/ Dual Form video I could find for tips. Found that laying a thin layer of the gel down 1st helped with bubbles and dips but it was hit or miss. All that being said- (Sorry for the novel- but I really want this to work) -I am INTENTLY WAITING TO WATCH your update video on her nails. NO PRESSURE 😄 But THANK YOU AGAIN FOR YOUR WORK AND DEDICATION. I KNOW I SPEAK FOR MANY WHEN I SAY WE GREATLY APPRECIATE YOU SUZIE!

Plus if you use acrylic you can also form the shape of the nails the way you want it to be. Less filing. And about the cuticle, you need to put the edge of the form under the skin.
@jwbirdlover7 жыл бұрын
Tiddles1968 under the skin ouch😨😨😨 I think they are better for easier acrylic not gels.. gels are easy to learn.. I did my first set in Oct had zero lift.. om my second now that I have a very thin gel for surface I don't need to file surface. . Much easier to me than trying to fit theses just pop on a form for a few seconds flash cure and revive to see better to form.. I watch Kristy too she's an awesome artist!! I love her hand painting!
@rachael.b8907 жыл бұрын
I'm really tempted to try them as well. I really struggle with building up the apex and working around the cuticles. I'm no nail artist, I just get satisfaction out of doing my nails myself and saving $$. I think the hardest thing would be to judge how to put the right amount of product in the dual tips themselves.
@Tiddles19687 жыл бұрын
Ouch? Why? You also push the skin back with the cuticle pusher, so you can place the edge of the form just under that rim. That won't hurt. Kirsty does it too. To me it seems that acrylic is easier to place in the form than gel. But I'm not a nail tech, so i could be wrong, haha. And I agree Kirsty is an amazing artist. I love her videos.

I was just about to suggest watching Naio Nails and using acrylic lol the whole video I'm hearing Kirsty's voice from her video lol

I've been waiting for this one! I think your technique of forming the nail by hand is so much better because you get to pay attention to the individuals hand however these dual forms were so interesting to me when I first saw it. I'm glad you were able to get your hands on it and with play with it! I think you should give the acrylic a try.

Hello Suzie, You can try do this with Polygel, it is not leaking everywhere as an usual builder gel does. Could be your solution for a proper french as well.

Loved your video! This will help me a lot. I've watched a number of videos on the subject and watched a lot of "nail tech's" pretending to do a first attempt on camera. I highly appreciate watching your trial and error video.
@sharonschlegel39602 жыл бұрын
Suzie, I've seen this done where they put the gel directly on the nail, place the form down and it forms after you lift off form. Not applying to form; you apply to nail

With dual forms?!?
@ouzarua7 жыл бұрын
Luna Red that’s how I use dual forms, with polygel. And I can even make French, but it requires “drawing” on a form, to mark where you want to put smile line. It’s totally worth it, especially when you can keep those forms for your client (or yourself) and reuse next time. Marking smile also helps with thickness, so you don’t make your free edge 0.5mm thick, lol.

I would love to see her do a video on fiberglass nails as well! I use silk wraps on my natural nails to add strength or when I've broken a nail and use it under my gel nails as well. But I've been very curious about using fiberglass.

EASYGAMER262 Roblox boy A fiberglass nail is the same idea as a silk nail, with the same exact process of the resin and activator on the fiber weave. The difference is fiberglass has a more open weave and is sometimes trickier to get the fiber to not be noticeable through the clear resin.
