My mom is 88 and can barely walk. She sits constantly, and now her legs are a mess, vascular edema, wounds that won't heal. This has taught me that my veggie diet and decades of exercise will pay off in my old age if I stay consistent. Thank you for your wonderful story, and sharing valuable knowledge. Mindset is a big deal, and my degree is also in psychology, even though nutrition is my passion. We know it all works together, mind, body, and spirit. Glory to God for our bodies ability to heal itself given the right tools.💖

In 2019 I was diagnosed with stage three B melanoma. They did surgery and immunotherapy. I had a severe allergic reaction to the medication. They told me there was nothing else they could do to me. I went to a raw vegan diet and had another pet scan last week. Everything is looking good. I started running in June and have been running all I can through the Maine winter. Definitely have more energy. I’m a 68 year old male.

Simple...metabolism takes more energy than running a marathon. It takes 24+ hours to metabolize meats (complex proteins)! 6-12 hours to metabolize beans, grains, etc., but only 15 to 30 minutes to metabolize fruits or veggies. That leaves tons of energy to fight the cancer. Ruth has long been a dear friend because I too beat cancer 50 years ago by going very strict Vegan (ONLY fruit & veggies) for the first 7 years before I gave in to dairy-free Mexican food. Next I plan to go raw Vegan to preserve digestive enzymes. I have never seen a doctor since changing my diet! Avoiding doctors alone is worth it to go Vegan!!!😊

Love Dr. Ruth. I got into running because of Kenneth Cooper as well, but not until ‘76. Became a vegan 11 years ago (am 66) and when I went to my eye doctor recently and he told me that he didn’t see any evidence of cataracts and seemed surprised. I told him that I think it’s because I’m vegan. He got quiet and then said he thought I’d probably get cataracts when I’m 80.😂. Then, he said he wished he could be a vegan, but he could never give up eating chicken. 🧐🤓

What Ruth eats in a day: LUNCH: Green smoothie: crushed garlic, wait 10 minutes, 1 tbsp black seeds, chia seeds, leafy greens in vitamix (kale, arugula, Swiss chard, beet greens), turmeric, prunes 4 in vitamix and 3 in salad bowl. Then in a big bowl: banana, mango, papaya, fruit, oranges. Pour 1/2 green smoothie over fruit. SUPPER: 1/3 of green smoothie on top of purple sweet potatoes and then eggplant or squash and green smoothie Dessert is frozen cherries , strawberries. Should always have vitamin c coursing through veins, organic cucumbers and bell peppers NEXT MORNING : handful goji berries (best out supplement for eyes) 1 cup of blueberries, then hempseeds handful of walnuts and then she pours??!????????? The interviewer interrupted and then we didn’t hear the rest :( as the interviewer seemed impatient chewing leafy greens for nitrous oxide 6 times a day for nitrous oxide. chew on 1/2 leaf kale. Salivary enzymes make is Sweetness and flavour comes out.

At I will definitely start including thatcprotoco. Incidentally, I had the pleasure of meeting Ruth years ago when we were both scheduled speakers at a Vegetarian Conference. Ruth was recovering from one of her surgeries &;she was intent on turning her first 10 K after the surgery & though she did far better than I, it was my pleasure to join her. We have lost track of each other over the past few years due to my ignorant loss of focus & sinking into Deep Depression & Dispair after a freak accident. It took a near death experience due to COVID & LONG KOVID ( Divine Intervention?) to make me realize as OPRAH once said: "If you're still breathing, you have a reason for being here." Thank YOU " Switch 4 Good," for letting me once again learn from Dr. Ruth Heidrich, whose long & hard acquired wisdom gives me hope, inspiration & renewed aspirations to follow the creed of a former beloved president, Teddy Roosevelt^s words, aptly portrayed by Reprisor Joe Wiegand Natioslly & Internationally with one of T.R."So most famous quotes: " Do What you can, When you can, Wherever you are" You ALL give me Hope & Inspiration to revive & adapt (Where appropriate given all the newly available information) our Auspiciosly, Audacious, Ambitious BUT ALtruistic Bucket List.❤ Respectfully, Gerry

Right now I am doing a lot of walking because after I had Cancer twice. I am almost close to being vegetarian because especially red meat raises my cholesterol. I had breast Cancer in my right breast. It was first stage so I didn't have to do chemo. But I would of had radiation on my right breast. I decided to have both my breasts removed. Because I didn't want to get Cancer in my left breast. I was Cancer free for eight years & then in 2021 it came back. After I had uterine Cancer back in 2013 & recovered really well. I don't like weight gain I have swelling problems 😫 & some of these treatments have a lot of side effects. Hormone blockers they have out I know I would not be able to tolerate it. I am hypersensitive I have ostropenia I sure don't want to graduate to having osteoporosis. I also have high cholesterol then I can't take station's they have bad side effects. I was on triavil it was a anti depressant anti psychotic medication. I got so backed up I was impacted. If I would have not gone off of it when I did I would of died. I was lucky I survived what I went through. I got duped by the psychiatrist. After that I know what my body will do when I take medication. Then I get constipated so I have to be on a high fiber diet. I had constipation since I was a kid & if I take medications that constipate me could put me in danger. I have seporrria dermatitis when I take certain medications. My head breaks out from that I had to stop medications or decline them.

My parents ate the food pyramid and both died young from colon cancer and heart diseases.I don't believe carnivore causes deaths..and I think the fact that many get well from autoimmunity and mental illness and pain, inflammation etc.. have a life again, outweighs any unproven BS doubts, that aren't properly researched. I grew up being told to eat no meat or fat, but to eat cereals for breakfast, toast and high sugar carbs etc. Eggs cause heart attacks, salt causes high blood pressure and the food pyramid, but, it was all a lie, written by the cereal companies!! I will take my chances. @@lilydauber3147

there are countless, legit medical studies showing meat and dairy causes cancer. Look it up.Also proven studies from way back, that blue zone groups are the longest lived, healthiest people in the world. Thier diet is plant based and they stay very active. Their average life span is 100. Notice none of the carnivore diet pushers mention this. So if given a choice, isn't is smarter to go by what is known to work for thousands of years? instead of going by a new idea with no legit studies or long term results. Especially when we know meat and dairy causes cancer.

I am trying to become vegan because I had breast cancer surgery in 2022, but I am not sure what foods I could eat beside vegetables / fruit / beans. A vegan just doesn’t eat animal products, right? Is that it? No dairy, meats, butter, what else? It will be impossible to because vegan but I guess if I cut out all animal products that would be enough, right? I’ve been a meat eater my whole life, so the transition will be hard because I don’t have a grasp or good foundation of what being a vegan is. Where can I find good books, recipe books about being vegan?

Check out Dr. Joel Fuhrman. Chris Wark is super helpful, too. I just switched to just veggies, legumes and plant fats. It's definitely doable. I eat my veggies fresh in salads, cooked and also juiced. Beans or lentils every day for protein and sustenance. Avocados, olives, nuts, seeds and a high quality olive oil. Coconut milk or cream can also be helpful when making certain dishes. Don't forget to supplement with B-12 and Zinc. I hope that helps! 🙂🌱

Hi @elsienirback7689 I just read your message after listening to the podcast with Dr. Ruth and it’s fantastic! I’m sorry to hear if your dx of breast cancer! How are you doing with everything?? I’m thankful for what the commenter “Lu” responded! I was also going to recommend Chris Wark! He got through stage 3 colon cancer and he has 3 books out; he’s healthy & string 20 years later. I was just dx last December & had a lumpectomy on Jan 4th. I started vegan WFPB last year so the tumor was a shock. But thank the Lord it hadn’t spread & is slow growing. I’m skipping radiation & hormone treatment and going the diet/lifestyle change route instead. I’d be happy to hear about your journey. Love sharing things that we’re learning along the way and I wish you all the best on your journey toward healing!!!❤

Being vegan is about ethics. It includes not buying products tested on animals, not buying animal skin, not betting on horse racing, not visiting zoos, ect, you get the drift. You would be eating a plant based diet. That means no meat, dairy or eggs.

We need meat protein for a balanced diet or fish from a healthy source. Also lack of iodine has been found to be causal in both breast cancer and prostate cancers. It’s a myth that red meat causes cancer. Pesticides in veggies are terrible. I’m glad a plant based diet helped her. She was very fortunate. It’s processed food and sugar and seed oils that have caused the younger ones their diabetes and bad health. A clean diet is best. Cholesterol isn’t bad for us…we need it, it’s high blood sugar and insulin resistance which doctors never treat, it’s only when it progresses to diabetes that medication is given. Cancer and metabolic diseases are caused by high sugar and bad vegetable oils causing Inflammation. Exercise Is very good for us as it burns off excess carbs and fat and also aids in detoxification which cleans out our bodies. We can get calcium from meat and vitamin C and also B12. All the essential amino acids are contained in meat. For repair of our bodies animal protein is best, our bodies don’t absorb all vitamins and minerals from plants. We are mammals/animals and we are made from protein. Our ancestors ate meat for hundreds of thousands of years…that’s why our brains have evolved so much. A ketogenic diet or carnivore diet is the optimum way to repair our mitochondria aswell.

@@lisbeth6911 look up Ken Berry MD and Dr Anthony Chaffee to just name a couple. Also Eric Berg. Believe me I’ve been sick for a few years and have done a lot of searching. Where vegan and carnivore meet, it is I think it’s our unhealthy processed foods including sugar and seed oils, called vegetable oils which are no longer safe and are toxic. We are slowly poisoning our bodies. Can we trust organic vegetables even and also can we trust organic/grass fed beef. Unfortunately our soils are so depleted of vitamins and minerals nowadays so the fruits and vegetables don’t have the ingredients that were say in the 70’s. You could say eat everything in moderation, but I’m not so sure. I eat the Keto way and have lost over 40lbs. I started eating more carbs and have put on 14lbs. We are all individual. I could go on, but just my opinion of course.

This lady had surgery. Someone from my family had the same surgery( she was 60 age old maybe) without chemo and lived 35 years after. And she ate everything . Not keto, not vegan ,not something special. Like before the surgery. And her friend the same. Without chemo and without special diet/ lifestyle

the branch of vegans in my family known for longevity and known for no cancers...ALL developed strange cancers. I lost my cousins except one as he said he refused to be a vegan...he is still alive and thriving. To each their own but for my kin that was a horrific choice. They didn't look healthy. She cooked organically so it wasn't they were eating awful. My mom BEGGED them to stop, or eat some fish. Nope they wouldn't and we lost them way too early.

That just sounds ridiculous. I assume the realise that vegans also eat sugar and processed food? Apart from that, nearly everyone who has cancer is eating animal products. The percentage of vegans in the population is very low.
