This is why, especially with a band like System of a Down, I never buy into the idea that some lyrics are just meaningless absurdity, and aren’t meant to or worth being considered. Fortunately, you deliver some of the most eloquent and accurate lyrical deciphering I’ve seen from a reaction channel. If you can figure this one out, you could probably tackle their whole catalogue.

My understanding of the song is it's about the unrealistic expectations that come from pornography. Banana terracotta pie you got in 1. I have a feeling the "whores with bad feet" are pornographic actresses wearing heels a lot and we learn defeat from them because of the inadequacy we get from watching attractive people with "bananas" much bigger than ours doing it. This song is talking about how small the "Vicinity of Obscenity" is. Men are programmed to have certain views on women. Whether it's finding a dirty magazine on the playground as a kid, or Paris Hilton trying to sell you a sex-burger during a Teletubbies commercial. No matter where you look, obscenity is "in your eye." It's unavoidable and in your face, just like the guitar and vocal styles when they scream, "Banana banana terra cotta..." The food references are symbolizing genitals

First time seeing the lyrics on this song. I won't try to hit every detail, but I think thus layered song, even in its brevity, about sex, for sure, but also colonialism, and especially Western colonialism in the Pacific rim. Bananas are phalluses here, yes. Terracotta pie is yonic or anal, yes. But also bananas are political, what with Dole and banana republics, the full purchase of countries by corporations with militaries, etc. Terracotta is often used in pots (more yonism) but also *roofs* in the global south and East Asia. That places us there. Then we get to the lines about feet, again, sexual, of course, thank you Q. Tarantino, et al, but also considering the practice of foot binding. And then how often the word whore is used derogatorily in specific contexts around Asian sex workers, I don't think it's a stretch at all to say this song is exploring, however briefly, the literal and figurative rape of Pacific islands and the Asian mainland along the Pacific. Then to not (on some level) tie milk, in this context, to opium in SOME way, would be intentionally myopic. Now, is this fully intentional? I'd be very surprised if the band didn't see these things in the song, whether it was absurdist or Dadaist in initial origin. There's no way anyone that political doesn't hear the colonialism the word banana is steeped in, first of all. Like, impossible. Bananas ARE deeply political. But secondly, it doesn't need to matter. Dadaism and absurdism aren't just random nonsense. It's the idea that randomess has meaning if we look, not because it's imbued with meaning in and of itself, but because the universe IS meaningless until we place or find meaning on or in it. But like all absurdism, and certainly lyrics of songs by this band, and others, it's left both intentional and open to interpretation. So it's sex, it's sex work, it's rape, and it's colonialism.
