Don't scrap the old water pumps until you've built the replacements AND refilled the water tanks. Then you get your beavers back.

I approve of the Idea of a mechanical pump, but you don't have the power infrastructure needed (700hp each). Of course, if you built a full height tower, and a few more water wheels, you could fix that...

When the big pump is built you could get rid of the other two and put some water storage in their place

One thing to consider with your mechanical water pump plan is that it will pump until the water is about at a .75 depth in the block directly below the spout. If you put it on the levees current height of two it will continuously pump and flood the area around it as it can never fill the block below the spout.

Yes, I will either build my own "well" with sluices or turn it off manually for a little bit.

"Yes we're going to extract badwater from here later on" - Build the Rig before the wall. Once built Water evaporates out faster than Badwater. You also will need an 3x3 Outlet to the clean river (filled with waterwheels). And a 3x3 Outlet out the back for badtide diversion (also filled with waterwheels).

Instead of the mechanical waterpump you can just place 1 sluice and set to open when dept below is lower than 0.7 this way the water will be at a stable level. the pump costs power and will keep filling and overfilling even.

That's true. I just like the idea of having a water dump for the fun of it.

The haulers have been told to "take logs/planks/blocks up the mountain 1st", then builders can grab them... Much slower, but it will already be done by the time you read this so... Next time? The problem is again, a Long district, but it will be done soonish. Then you'll want to make it a new district anyway, or your Rig workers will be constantly injured. Long walk > tired/thirsty > More accident prone.

Yeah, probably need a new district. Maybe switch over to bots. I'm not sure yet.

Yes - You can build bridges over water / badwater sources. Yes - You can build overhangs over water / badwater sources. You can also put Impermeable Floors on the overhangs. Yes - This means you can Seal a source(s), but that's not what you want to do for this volcano.

@@MrStoneIV_ If there is a leak anywhere, yes. Floodgates can be used but must seal 1 level below the opening of the floodgate to stop leaks. If you put Sluices adjacent (separated by a levee) they can auto-divert good/bad water.
