At the time, what he got was pace and explosiveness. he didn’t have that much of football mindset, dribbling skill was alright, passing and finishing were just ok. He didn’t seem like a special player who got a strong character. I thought he’d be just an average player who could start from the bench. Throughout the time, his explosiveness level drops down alongside with pace, and his wages are up significantly. The rest remains the same (maybe finishing is slightly better). Now, he’s got probably 10% of contribution to the team on the pitch, zero character in the dressing room despite of being the senior there. So he’s deffo got to go after this season. If he’s still here next season, well we’ll have another victim after Ten Hag.

One major thing people forget to mention is that Ruben Amorim builds a bond with the players and ETH got in as an authoritarian manager. I think people are going to be surprised with his picks. Another thing is that he rotates the squad a lot. In Sporting he didn't abandon any player and gave everyone game time. That's how he keeps the whole squad motivated and performing at the same level. He does have a preference for physically tall a fit CB. The defensive midfielder is a key role. It's not a coincidence that the last 3 at Sporting were some of the players with the most tackles. It went as follows, Palhinha, Ugarte and currently Hjulman who happens to be the captain. I think Hojlund will be one of the players that will definitely improve. He has all it takes for the role and Amorim will get the best out of him. Luke Shaw might even be the left CB. He did that at Sporting with Matheus Reis. Bruno is going to be his Pedro Gonçalves.

No way Amorim will play Garnacho and Amad along side Hojlund when you ahve Dalot and Mazouri as wing back. It will be Casemiro and Ugarte in the middle with Bruno and someone else (that could be Garnacho, Amad, Rashford, Antony, Eriksen, Mainoo or Mount). Personally think Mainoo will take over Casemiro and Mount might fit in better to play behind Hojlund with Bruno.

While I mostly agree... we COULD see Bruno there in some games, but mostly its going to be Ugarte/Casemiro in the deeper role and then Mainoo/Mount/Eriksen/Case there for now. Depending on Mount's fitness and role, we may be light in that area... Most of the time its gonna be Ugarte+Mainoo but not every game. Bruno will likely be one of the 2 10s, same with Rashford, Amad, Mount but you could see an Ugarte/Bruno Midfield and then Hoijlund, Rashford, Amad as a three. My guess is gonna be Bruno takes the R10 spot for now and Marcus the L10, but it will vary game to game. I'm excited to see where it goes! Garnacho is an interesting shout for LWB, i think it unironically suits him, as its not really a fullback position. Someone did an xThreat of all zones in the pitch and around the halfway line on Garnacho's side, he was one of the most 'threatening' players from said zone. He'd have to learn to be a bit less selfish but in his defence, I saw him trying to make more passes in recent games and use the overlapping fullbacks more. Wasn't always coming off but i appreciate the effort. We could even see Amad as a RWB or even Antony (if he wants any chance of saving his united career, i think this is his best shot) in some games, Antony is probably underrated in his ability to defend, press, keep possession and carry the ball into the final third, and these are all good traits for a wingback, and he's kinda useless at this level beyond that unless he has a lot of support, which if he was a fullback he'd probably get to be fair. However, my money is on Garnacho LWB at least for now as a surprise role!
