The one thing that this video overlooked is that the marine corps chose the cobra for a reason. The cobra is simpler to operate and 4 to 5 times more cost effective. For example the maintenance hour to flight hour is is 1/8 that of the Apache. The fuel burn rate 2/3 more efficient and offer a similar time on station and better performance at low altitudes which are the only reason for its existence. Now to say that the Apache is apex of rotary wing attack platforms is an understatement. I'm not going to pull a warthunder and blab specifics but some of the lesser known capabilities of the Apache really put into perspective on how much more advanced the US is compared to any adversary.

4 z10 were given to Pakistan by china earlier for trials. Pakistan conducted extensive tests and trials on it and finally returned them back due to some issues. 737 Max is based on 737 NG. The MCAS workaround is due 737 Max's legacy 737 design coupled with the larger diameter engine upgrades. Because the CFM International LEAP engine used on the 737 MAX was larger and mounted further forward from the wing and higher off the ground than on previous generations of the 737, Boeing discovered that the aircraft had a tendency to push the nose up when operating in a specific portion of the flight envelope (flaps up, high angle of attack, manual flight). MCAS was intended to mimic the flight behavior of the previous Boeing 737 Next Generation. 737 Max should be re-designed for larger engines.

I’m not all the way through the video so I’m not sure if you touch on this. But part of the reason why attack helicopters became so important for China in the 1990s is because of the effect U.S. helicopters had on Iraqi armor in Desert Storm. Chinese military officers write about this in a series of essay that is now a book called “Unrestricted Warfare”
@granatmof10 ай бұрын
Honestly Desert Storm probably surprised many people including military experts. Nobody realized just how effective the US military had become since Vietnam. Add to that just new kinds of warfare: stealth attack, bunker busters, helicopter attack raids, special forces assault. It was a much newer kind of warfare, that if you didn't prepare to cou ter, would sweep over you pretty quickly. At the end of the day, I don't fault China for wanting a strong defense. But their goal to invade Taiwan is untenable and unacceptable.

Apache AH-64E only has 4 hardpoints. Main difference from previous D version it has a new engine and composite rotor blades giving it a higher payload capacity thus allowing it to carry its long bow radar. Otherwise if has both long bow radar and 6 hard points it will be too heavy.
@sakawigi13 ай бұрын
@baronvonslambert The D model Variant was designed for Longbow. The E model comes with modernized computer systems for the radar system and fully integrated systems for working with UAS (unmanned aerial systems). The wingtip nylons for A2A combat was on the D models, however it isn't within US Army doctrine to conduct A2A combat with a helicopter originally designed to wreck Rusky tanks. Israeli and, I believe, UK D models do use those hard points. The E-model eliminated those hardpoints in favor of airframe survivability equipment. I know it's vague, but I don't know what is or isn't open public information in regards to all the upgrades.
@artnull132 ай бұрын
How do you explain the U.K. mk1 and mk2 versions having 6 hard points and longbow?
@sakawigi12 ай бұрын
If you will review my comment, I stated that those are A2A hard points on the tip of the wings and did mention that UK does utilize those. Now if these hard points are located elsewhere on the wings then theu may be specialty designed to meet their doctrine/equipment needs. My main disclaimer is that I was an AH-64 maintainer in the Active U.S. Army for 12 years. U.S. Apache are the only ones I can claim full authority on. As for allied partners' equipment, I am only familiar with a few other countries' equipment due to joint training opportunities.

In the realm of technology, you are at the forefront, recognizing that the Chinese will eventually catch up. It's a matter of time and quality, and many companies grasp that concept. It's simply a question of when, Will China cease to develop the engine indefinitely if the agreement with Ukraine's JSC Motor Sich falls through?
@LTW7610 ай бұрын
You need to understand why foreign companies or governments treat the purchase or theft of these technologies as invisible. Besides giving too much money. There is actually a balanced strategy. If the United States had no enemies, it would turn around and eat its own little brother. So governments and politicians with strategic vision in Europe and America will overlook this situation. Shaping a powerful enemy, Americans will not turn their heads and eat their little brother.
@royk77127 ай бұрын
Isn't that how technological progress works? Everything is stolen from Germany and UK in ww1. If anyone cannot reverse engineering, then technology will be as slow as a snail. The BeiDou is already operational for a long time and constellation has more satellites than GPS or any other system. It also has more than ten times the monitoring stations in other countries than have been deployed for GPS. Also satellites are of newer generation than GPS satellites .As a result BeiDou's accuracy is much better.

The time it takes for the tech operate is ridiculous. An Apache could have downed every helo they have and be safely back at its home base before they have loaded up the 10" touch screen display. It never ceases to amaze me that if you are going to reverse engineer something, why don't you make it better, something the Chinese don't seem capable of.

@@T.oMiller That is taken partially out of context, or perhaps we can say slightly inaccurate or oversimplified. After World War II, Japan faced the daunting task of rebuilding its economy. In 1950, Deming, an American statistician and management consultant, began teaching Japanese manufacturers about quality control and production efficiency. His emphasis was on using statistical methods to improve manufacturing processes, which helped Japanese companies like Toyota and Sony produce high-quality products at competitive prices. This approach was a departure from the American manufacturing philosophy of the time, which relied heavily on post-production inspections rather than integrating quality into the production process itself. He was in an environment where he was able to take his own personal concepts and ideas and give them to people that had already proven their technical aptitude by such examples as the Japanese prototype jet fighter. Despite the limitations of only one partial cutaway example given by the Germans towards the end of the war, the Japanese were able to leverage their existing engineering capabilities to rapidly develop their own jet prototype. This speaks to their remarkable ingenuity and design skills, which allowed them to innovate and advance their aircraft technology even with limited information and resources. Thus it was one bright statician pushing his own concepts about the manufacturing process despite the American standards of the time, which the Japanese learned from and improved upon.
