It's been a running joke but let's face it. A brand new car. The Nissan undercuts the comp in the segment. For someone that's getting a car for transportation and not getting it for a flex. The Nissan ticks all the boxes.

24k since November?! Even in km that's a lot of driving. My mom got a '22 Sentra, after having owned the previous two generations, and I'm BLOWN away by how much better this generation is overall compared with the last two gens. Its actually enjoyable to drive, handles better and with a lower center of gravity, and the power delivery feels way better. I'm beyond satisfied with it, maybe a corolla or civic wouldve been better but would easily have been $5-7k more for the same mileage

C’mon Nissan you can do it: Maxima (or Sentra), V6 or a spirited 4, 6 speed, sports package and nothing else. What’s nothing else? Sun roof, drivers safety suite nannys, crazy screens, ie a pure drivers car. Priced just under $30k. I’m in.

Not really, that’s probably the max for a 16v 2.0 na engine that’s direct injected. I guess you could play with compression ratio but who wants to put 93 octane fuel in a car like this. You’re driving this? My mom has one and as we’ve come to find out, the new generation of Nissans are plagued with electrical issues. thank god my mother is leasing it. From what I’ve been looking up through trying to figure out what’s wrong with it, active air grille module develops issues, taillight continues to go out even after changing bulbs, and wiring harness. (everything done under warranty by the dealer) from what I’ve heard from some Altima owners is that the problems root source is the fusebox it’ll throw fuses like no other. She does like how the car drives (I don’t). Blindspot visibility is trash too. C pillar is always blocking the view. Good value for the money, but I wouldn’t finance one. If you’re the type of person to lease all your vehicles, and you typically stay within the lease allowance mileage, go for it, wouldn’t buy it out though. From a reliability standpoint I would say go for a Corolla. performance wise (compact car level) it would be the Honda civic sport or SI maybe the new Elantra I’ve had a 2018 sport manual really fun car but my commute has some pretty atrocious traffic so manual wasn’t it for me. I have a 2021 Passat I really like it, it’s simple doesn’t look sporty but in terms of fuel economy, and just overall ease of use for a commuter it’s a pretty good option, maybe go for the Jetta. If I have the money I would like to get a nice little manual car as a weekend car, but as I am 25 years old I think it makes sense I put a priority on finding a good career and buying a home first.

$28,000 for not even a fully loaded Sentra? We paid $28,000 for our 2023 Camry SE with leather and sunroof. Value-vise, something is wrong here. This car shouldn't be more than $25K.

I own a 2024 SV w/premium package. Suspension is horrible on rough roads with interior rattles and bad vibration. CVT is not that great considering it is new and improved. These Auto reviewers need to drive them for 30 days.

The Nissan is thousands cheaper than the Civic. In Canada you can get the SR with a manual transmission. I'm a Honda guy, but with escalating price of Civics, and the fact I could get the Sentra in SR trim with a manual, for me it was a no-brainer, I bought the Sentra in 2023.

I’m a fan of Nissan, but only for the ~10 legitimately great vehicles they’ve made in the past 30 years. This car though? Buyers REALLY need to shop around because this price range is super competitive now. You have the amazing value of the Jetta Sport (and manual transmission availability), Toyota Corolla/Cross/Prius reliability and 60mpg hybrid availability, Subaru Crosstrek/Impreza standard AWD and sporty handling, and the Hondas with the utility and value of the HRV or the ‘25 Civic Hybrid which has 200hp, presumably excellent MPG, and a starting price of $24k. Pretty much every car I just mentioned is available for less than this Sentra’s price, some of them by thousands of dollars. (If it were me and I needed an appliance car, I’d set a $20k cap on the price and just get the best used example of anything I listed above. Commuter cars depreciate SO fast. Why buy new when you’re going to lose 40% of the cars value in the first year or two.)

jetta is outdated oil=burning garbage with a horrendous interior, sentra offers a far nicer cabin than the corolla (SV premium gets quilted leather seats), and the civics are going for wayy more than they should. the sentra is really a fine car for what it is; the interior is honestly better than some infinitis, you get the best n/a fuel economy, and a pretty good looking vehicle, while undercutting many of the rivals. also not one of the cars you mentioned are cheaper than the sentra (besides the jetta)

@@blueridge8992 its all completely true. and i cant believe u had the audacity to compare a 30k+ prius to a sentra. but go ahead and give honda 34k for a civic hybrid, your money to waste. or maybe you can invest in a VW oil burner 🤣

@@mal4951 He says in the video that this Sentra is $28,500. The Prius is $27,900. The ‘25 Civic isn’t on sale yet so there’s literally zero possible evidence of your nonsense $10k ADM claim. The 1.5t has been in the Jetta Sport for 2 years now, so there would be at least a Service Bulletin about “burning oil” if that was happening, but of course there’s not because you made that up just like everything else you said.

@@blueridge8992 LOL. yeah 27k for the base model prius with a small screen, no heated or power seats, cloth, and more. the sentra has zero gravity leather seats which are heated, you get a heated steering wheel, dual zone climate, adaptive cruise control, etc. u can also get the sv premium with quilted geniune leather seats. and not to mention u arent getting a brand new prius for 27k, they're marked up as well. there are several known instances of the vw 1.5t burning oil. and u know DAMN well the civic WILL be marked up like hell when it comes out. haters gonna hate but the sentra is honestly a good little car when u stack it up to the competition.

i see it as more of a competitor to something like a Corolla XLE and/or Kia Forte GT-_line_ rather than a Civic Si or Jetta GLI. a more premium feeling car rather than an entry level sports sedan. as long as their cvts dont grenade i feel like they can definitely make some good value plays soon

Nissan Tech here. These things are absolute garbage. Everything on them is cheap cheap cheap. inner tie rods, wheel bearings, axles, brake rotor, switches, computer modules, I've seen more failures in these cars than any other vehicle I work on. Usually finished off by an early CVT failure.

Unfortunately, still the slowest offering in its class. With the Nissan Versa being literally the least expensive new car you can buy in America, why would anyone spend more money to get a Sentra, instead? Especially since you're really not getting much at all for spending more money. Other than a sportier-looking interior, and a few extra features that aren't really worth it. Best way Nissan could distinguish the Sentra over the Versa is to give the former a Turbo-charged option. Which, quite frankly, Nissan should have already done years ago.
