You’re driving this? My mom has one and as we’ve come to find out, the new generation of Nissans are plagued with electrical issues. thank god my mother is leasing it. From what I’ve been looking up through trying to figure out what’s wrong with it, active air grille module develops issues, taillight continues to go out even after changing bulbs, and wiring harness. (everything done under warranty by the dealer) from what I’ve heard from some Altima owners is that the problems root source is the fusebox it’ll throw fuses like no other. She does like how the car drives (I don’t). Blindspot visibility is trash too. C pillar is always blocking the view. Good value for the money, but I wouldn’t finance one. If you’re the type of person to lease all your vehicles, and you typically stay within the lease allowance mileage, go for it, wouldn’t buy it out though. From a reliability standpoint I would say go for a Corolla. performance wise (compact car level) it would be the Honda civic sport or SI maybe the new Elantra I’ve had a 2018 sport manual really fun car but my commute has some pretty atrocious traffic so manual wasn’t it for me. I have a 2021 Passat I really like it, it’s simple doesn’t look sporty but in terms of fuel economy, and just overall ease of use for a commuter it’s a pretty good option, maybe go for the Jetta. I’m a fan of Nissan, but only for the ~10 legitimately great vehicles they’ve made in the past 30 years. This car though? Buyers REALLY need to shop around because this price range is super competitive now. You have the amazing value of the Jetta Sport (and manual transmission availability), Toyota Corolla/Cross/Prius reliability and 60mpg hybrid availability, Subaru Crosstrek/Impreza standard AWD and sporty handling, and the Hondas with the utility and value of the HRV or the ‘25 Civic Hybrid which has 200hp, presumably excellent MPG, and a starting price of $24k. Pretty much every car I just mentioned is available for less than this Sentra’s price, some of them by thousands of dollars. (If it were me and I needed an appliance car, I’d set a $20k cap on the price and just get the best used example of anything I listed above. Commuter cars depreciate SO fast. Why buy new when you’re going to lose 40% of the cars value in the first year or two.)

i see it as more of a competitor to something like a Corolla XLE and/or Kia Forte GT-_line_ rather than a Civic Si or Jetta GLI. a more premium feeling car rather than an entry level sports sedan. as long as their cvts dont grenade i feel like they can definitely make some good value plays soon

2.0 DI engine only make 146 lb-ft of torque lol. My fiesta's 1.6 port injected engine makes 150lb-ft with upgraded injectors and i still get 34mpg.

Nissan Tech here. These things are absolute garbage. Everything on them is cheap cheap cheap. inner tie rods, wheel bearings, axles, brake rotor, switches, computer modules, I've seen more failures in these cars than any other vehicle I work on. Usually finished off by an early CVT failure.

Definitely not a Nissan tech. Anyone that actually knows shit about these cars knows the cvts have vastly improved since 2020. The other shit was fixed in recalls...

Unfortunately, still the slowest offering in its class. With the Nissan Versa being literally the least expensive new car you can buy in America, why would anyone spend more money to get a Sentra, instead? Especially since you're really not getting much at all for spending more money. Other than a sportier-looking interior, and a few extra features that aren't really worth it. Best way Nissan could distinguish the Sentra over the Versa is to give the former a Turbo-charged option. Which, quite frankly, Nissan should have already done years ago.

i do not like the cvt

I cannot stress enough how awful that tach is. Compressing the most useful range just to make the redzone larger. Why even bother with it if you're gonna get a cvt only and fake ass shifts? (This is a dig at nissan)

I drove a sentra back when i was in college... lets just say i would never wanna buy a nissan ever again 😅😂
