JLB Cheetah - How To Calibrate And Get Started With A HW EZRUN SC8 RTR 120a ESC!!!!

What’s going on folks, in this video I’ll be showing you guys how to calibrate and get started with a HW 120a ESC. My old 80a ESC overheats every time I run my truck so this upgrade should be more better in handling the high electric current coming off the 3s battery. With a new ESC, you always have to calibrate it before using it or nothing will happen when you press the trigger on your controller. Teng you're a lifesaver. Could you also show us how you can calibrate the damn controller in order for it to reach the maximum left and right ends ? And I'm referring to the calibration that should be made via the ESC and not with the trimming buttons.

I dude I have installed the esc and works great but it’s not fast any more so can you do a vid on message me what u did wrong on the sheet it said about the controller but I am running the stock one that it comes with. Would really appreciate it if you could help me out

Can 120amp esc support orginal transmitter and receiver aa you are using new tx and rx ...my esc is dead ...do I need another set of tx rx alongwith new 120esc or it support same orginal setup ie same tx rx?

You can still use the original trans and receiver with a new esc. The only thing that pairs together is you transmitter and receiver. The esc is just to control the motor/throttle.

Try to recalibrate the trigger and wheels on the controls. Sometimes that happens. I have a video showing how to recalibrate.

Hi RC Teng, I just re calibrate my JLB Cheetah but what's up with the nob on top of the throttle. whenever I turn it up or all the way down the car move on it's own (reverse or forward)without me touching the throttle, Did I do something wrong this time?

That’s throttle trim. Keep it in the middle. That’s for like racing applications to help with not stopping.

Yeah Banggood has almost everything for this truck. Ebay also has these truck but they’re way overpriced on there. Banggood is the cheapest in cost as far I know. If your thinking of getting one then my opinion you should. I love this truck so much I have 2 of them. That’s how good they are. They’re super fast right out of the box and can do wheelies on demand. It’s also like half the price of traxxas trucks. This is something I think it’s well worth every penny spent. 👍

Hi.ı consider to buy this esc to my xlf f22a. I bought surpass hobby 120A and burned in short time with 3s battery, 3650 3100kv motor. Surpasshobby esc is just waste money.How about wp sc8 rtr. How long did u use before it was broken down?.Do u think it can handle 2s or 3s with 3100 kv for 1/10 monster truck or does this esc will be wasting money as surpass hobby 120a?

The esc I have is the best for me so far. It can handle up to 4s power. I have it in all my trucks. It should be able to handle your 3100kv motor with 3s. Don’t do 4s if you have 3100kv since that would be too much current for the esc but 3s should be ok. I have the HW sc8 rtr wp in all my trucks.

Yeah 2s should be no problem even on 3s is ok with those KV. I run 2030 and 2500kv on 3s all day and no problems at all. 👍🍻

Hey i want to change the receiver with a new one with gyro mode on the cheetah, do i have to recalibrate the esc to work properly or there is no need to?

It’s all depend on your radio system. Are you using DumboRc radio system?? I can help answer your question once I know what your using.

Ok so with dumborc theres 3 models. X4, x5, x6. If you have the x6 model you will need a x6fg receiver with built in gyro. X6 has the gyro non on the controller. You will have to program the controller by itself. Do you know how to do that? I’ll try to make a vid showing how to program the controller to active channel 6 for gyro control. Calibrating only helps with programming your running mode like forward, reverse, and brake.

Do you have the x6fg receiver for it? If you do, try it in your car, turn up the knobs on top and wiggle the car to see if the gyro is activated. If not, you will have to reprogram/program the dumbo rc controller by itself. There’s videos out there that shows how to do it but if from out of the country so their English is horrible and hard to understand or follow. I’ll try to make a vid on how to program the dumbo rc controller.

The power switch and program button is all on one unit. They’re side by side of each other. The switch is the power and the button is the programming button. It should all be connected by a wire that connects to the esc. What esc do you have. The old esc on the gen1 cheetah is a blue color esc with a small power button at the corner of the esc.

I forgot to mention that the start button is located near the motor. I relocated my switches to the top deck of the chassis for my own preference but originally it’s placed near the motor. That’s where the factory would place it.

Hey mate do you know how to recalibrate the original blue esc?? I’ve only got steering and it’s not the receiver...

For the 80a esc it has no program button so you will need an external device like a program card. I stay away from the old blue esc cause of that issue and it also burn out pretty fast after using 3s a lot. I recommend you upgrade it to the 120a version that comes in the newer JLB cheetah. They last longer then the old blue esc.
