The Tentipi Olivin 2 CP is the smallest cotton/polyester tipi tent from this Swedish tentmaker. Is the Olivin 2 CP as good as its bigger brothers and sisters from Tentipi? As a bonus: I tested it with a Winnerwell stove. Watch the review!

There is nothing I can do about it, but I love tipi’s. Tipi’s are most of the time easy to pitch, they are sturdy, they are spacious, they have a unparalleled space to weight ratio, with the cotton/polyester they breath but still are waterproof and I can put my stove in them and have a nice fire when it is colder. This makes camping fun. Big time! I’ll say it again: I love tipi’s. And now there is the Tentipi Olivin 2 CP. The smallest cotton/polyester tipi from this Swedish tentmaker. Question: Is it as good as its bigger brothers and sisters?

Thanks for this great walkthrough of the pros and cons. You address the points I’ve been curious about, like why the polycotton goes all the way down, and why the ventilator strings can’t get attached to the side. You should contact Tentipi with your inputs. I had the Olivin 2 light before, and I emailed them several times with ideas for improvements, and they did address the issues I had with it in the updated version. I think user inputs are valued by any serious company.

Thank you so much fir your input. They know about my critics, I send it to them before shooting the review. And it is their tent😄. I have not heard anything back after the video is published. The tent will go back to them as soon as I had the chance to test with a smaller stove😉. It’s a pity we as Dutch are not allowed travel to Sweden this year otherwise... And thanks for the compliments! Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Gijs

My man, coming through again and again with quality content. I appreciate your review on the updated version of the Olivin! I didn’t know it comes in the Poly/Cotten. To me that makes this tent totally worth buying now.. I agree with the issue of the floor not being waterproof... Still... waiting for a better floor.. Hopefully someone’s listening. I’m really enjoying your reviews, especially these Tentipi ones. I like the idea of these tents and would love to get one someday. The only issue for me is that the floor to tent isn’t sealed, and that worries me in that we have a lot of snakes in Australia. I think waking up to find an Eastern Brown snake cuddled up with me some morning would have me quickly testing the burst-strength of the walls 🤔

Hoi Gijs, thank you for the excellent review. I really wanted to like this tent but the review confirmed what concerns me about this type of tent. If the floor could be zipped in with an instep to keep draft and moisture out it would be so much better.

Mooie tent, tipi model spreekt me altijd aan.

Groet, Gijs

One significant issue with big tipis like this is bug protection. It can be arranged, but it's not a geometry that works well with netting - and in many places that is a bit of a showstopper.

Hi, and thank you for an excellent review. Do you have any guidance for deciding between the CP tent fabric vs. the light tent fabric? Does the benefit of less weight in the light material compensate for condensation, particularly in damp conditions that will freeze overnight? Any tips are most welcome. Continued success and cheers :)

Hi Paul, Thank you for the kind words. How do you plan to use the tent? CP is breathable... the others are not. That is the big difference. In cold conditions: CP. Unless when you can't carry the weight. Does this help? Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs

@@OutdoorguruGearReviews I agree with you. And I have never seen a side by side comparison of the two tipi tents, particularly with condensation. With extended fall and spring - not cold enough for winter - where it rains during the day and freezes over night, condensation is probably the biggest headache. I wondered if you found the difference in condensation negligible or manageable between the tent fabrics? I trust your experiences and reviews. And I can't afford two tents ha ha.

The tipi in this tent is still at my place since I want to try it with a smaller stove and Tentipi knows this and that fine by them. The stove is back and the fireproof matt... I bought last week.
@OutdoorguruGearReviews
@OutdoorguruGearReviews 4 жыл бұрын
Groet, Gijs

@@OutdoorguruGearReviews Thank you Gijs for this excellent review and Dennis for pointing out the danger of CO intoxication. For safety reasons I would not with my family sleep in a tent with stove. I would also be interested in comparing the Tentipi with the Hilleberg Keron 4 for winter camping. I know you are both enthusiastic about the Tentipi products. Being a lifetime camper I have some experience with tents myself. A brand which is rather unknown but offers far better quality is Atomatent.nl. Instead of polycotton you get decent cotton and a fixed floor of far better quality. The one pole construction of the Tipi also gives you very limited room inside. I have owned a De Waard grote Bonte specht but sold it after year. I am still using my Atomatent Cameleon for 8 years now and it is still as new and will camp 4 persons. It weighs a bit more but the Tentipi would also be a tent for car campers. I can put this tent up in only 30 minutes. Regards, Jon
