I've been driving Model S since 2016. My wife had a 2017 Model S. Bought a 2023 Model S Plaid last October. Wife chose a Model Y. She wanted to be up higher. I agree with you, it's ugly. I call it her transportation appliance. Makes sense as she says she gets more excited about a new refrigerator than a new car. This is a car for non-car people.

@cutehumor I can completely respect that. I think the most assuring thing for us personally was that the Tesla Warranty is better than every other vehicle on the road today. Even the most reliable manufacturers like Toyota, Honda, and full-size pickups all refuse to back their cars with a 120k or 150k mile warranties. With the major lack of wear items on Tesla vehicles and the addition of an industry leading warranty, it was a no-brainer if you keep your vehicle less than 8 years or 120k miles. Might not be a fit for everyone or all situations, of course.

@TheRichardc883 ай бұрын
@gravehunter2 Normally, I appreciate airing on the side of caution, but this Tesla fire thing was really blown out of proportion by the news and social media. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) estimates that there are around 222,000 vehicle fires in the United States each year. Since 2012, there have been 511 fires involving Tesla vehicles. The evidence does not support the mass misinformation about Tesla fires.

I have a Tesla Model Y Long Range Dual Motor (blue with black wheels) with performance boost. The family loves the room, this thing has more rear seat legroom than almost anything(any 2 row suv and some 3 row suvs) and it's great to camp in! It was a steal CPO from tesla. I have also noticed that people treat these Tesla loan cars very bad.... I never understood that. For the people that whine about battery concens... I always ask them how long their cars powertrain warranty is for.... 5 years, 60k is pretty normal. My warranty is 8 years or 120k miles. I believe the Model S and X have warranties out to 150k miles. No ICE manufacturer would dare do that.

I daily drive a 2022 Model Y LR. I absolutely love it, but I agree that the rear section of the interior rattles like crazy. It’s a widespread issue. I’ve narrowed it down to the back seats - they’re not built very rigidly. Also the rear suspension didn’t have enough time spent on its NVH. There are several aftermarket suspension options that help with this. Hopefully the Y refresh will address that issue. I love it since it’s a solid car that has low cost of ownership. The cargo space, excessive headroom, ride height, and the ability to tow are nice features above the Model 3. Unfortunately you got an original Model Y - you’d like a newer Y more. They’ve done a lot of refinement and subtle upgrades since they first came out. Unfortunately they’ll never match the speed and intensity of an S Plaid lol.

I've never liked the look of the Model Y. They look like someone hooked up an air compressor to a Model 3 and pumped it up with air till it nearly burst. Such a strange looking beast. Oh, those "Wireless" chargers are actually wired charging. That cord plugs into power at one end and your phone in the other. My buddy's 2021 Model 3 Performance has those. I chose a 2022 RWD Model 3 and absolutely love it. We parked a 2023 Model X Plaid (Ultra red with white interior) next to it and when I need a plush ride, a surprisingly good stereo and wild acceleration, I strap in to the Model X Plaid. Thank you for the honest review.

We've got a 2023 Model Y AWD, 330 miles rated. My wife and I recently drove from New Hampshire to Florida, slept in the back for a week on a custom fit mattress, then drove back from Florida to New Hampshire in one day! (well, 27 hours, start to finish). My car is a Model 3. She got the Y because it fits a lot more cargo, easier to get in and out of, and for passengers too. And you can sleep in the back as we did on our road trip, which would be horrible claustrophobic in a Model 3, which is a sedan and not a hatchback. Crossover SUVs are all the rage in the US and now European markets. There is a MASSIVE price difference between Y and X. The Y starts at $37k and the X starts at $72k. The reason it probably feels slow is because they probably have it locked onto Chill mode in addition to the speed limiter. That's what Valet Mode does anyway. It does have wireless charging built in, that one is either just broken or it's your case. My wife's case charges fine but mine, which does work in other cars, needs the case to come off to work on this one for some reason.
@burnx452 ай бұрын
He got 0-60 in 4.8 seconds which is what is stated when new. So it's not locked in chill mode for acceleration mode. I'm in California and I have a 2023 Model Y LR with acceleration boost (0-60 in 4.2 seconds). The farthest I've driven mine before is 263 miles with 9% left, over a combination of back roads, city, and highway. Mine stated when new was 329 miles at 100%. It now says 308 miles at 100% and I have 23,777 miles on it.

Appearance of the car is a personal preference and i guess it could qualify someone to 'hate' it. Rattles/squeaks would be a big issue to me, but by moving the seats and floorboards he fixed it. The phone not charging, maybe it was broken in this car, but i wouldn't 'hate' a car because it didn't have wireless charging.
