This works for me! I don't put concealer on without using the Aquaphor, these days. I just turned 66 years old, & it doesn't accentuate my undereye lines. It softens the look of them, actually. Great hack imo. 😊

On a recent camping trip my undereyes were looking & feeling very dry. I had some Dr Bronner's Naked Organic lip balm in my pocket. Read the label, pretty good ingredients and nothing to irritate my eyes. I used a minimal amount, patted it in and let it sink in for a bit before my Bobbi Brown corrector. It really helped in the dry outdoor conditions.

I had the same experience with Aquaphor. I use grapeseed oil under my eyes, nasal and corners of my mouth. I have realized better results with this approach. I am 59 and have combination skin.

FWIW, I heard a heart & lung specialist say that side sleeping, particularly on the left side, were beneficial in terms of blood flow and breathing (something about oxygen saturation, I think) so those of us sleeping on our sides might have creases, but our hearts and lungs will be happy!

Lifetime side-sleeper too. Oh the pillow-face in the morning. 😮 The best thing I found was switching to satin pillowcases. The fabric doesn’t seem to form the deep wrinkle/creases of cotton, so your face is resting on a smoother surface. Problem not completely resolved, but much better.

I tried this situation as well, I don't wear concealer and just bring my foundation up with a sponge very sheer-ly...what I found is that the aquaphor just kept my under eyes hydrated looking and young. I liked it. I think if I powdered it or went too heavy with the other products I would have seen what you saw too. But for how I wear my makeup, I kinda liked it

*_I get secrets for everyday makeup. But many pro/master MUAs do makeup on ppl who need to be glammed for photos/vids. So it needs to look great for just a short time & there are teams for touch ups for longer events._* 👍❤️🤓🥳

There's no correcting my fine lines around my eyes, so I don't wear concearler. Wow a video from Shelly on a Thursday evening and I’m loving it. ❤❤❤❤❤I had tried this hack after watching “Glamgirl Gabi’s”video with a labello lip balm, since Aquaphor is not available in Europe. It worked for me and my under eye stayed flawless throughout the day (I had set my under eye with a loose powder, inspite having that Maybelline foundation powder) even in the midst of getting wet in a light rain. Have a nice day and take care you too.❤❤ P.S - I also used a pink colour corrector before my concealer. Fine lines were not blurred and they were there but the concealer did not crease.

Hi Shelley! I bought the double pack of Aquaphor at Target two weeks ago. I don't use much concealer on my dark circles. I have to wear glasses and my CeraVe eye repair cream keeps eye area moist all day. Don't really have crow's feet at 72 years of age. (Go figure). Not a complete waste since I will use as lip balm. Another great video! Thanks for the information.

Hi Shelly. I did watch Angie's review of the Aquaphor technique. I'm around her age, and I'm thinking if it didn't work for her, it's not going to work for me. She even has combo skin, while mine is dry. Ziva's looking at you with such love in her eyes. Sweet girl. I'm with you. I'm always going to sleep on my left side. I cannot sleep on my back. The side without the Aquaphor looks better. Not only that, if you were to use it on a daily basis, you might develop milia under your eyes. I'm passing. But thanks for giving it a try.❤❤🥰

Hi Shelly - I tried it also and had the same issues. Every line was more visible, I didn't like the way it felt and even my under eye dryness looked worse. I went out and bought the Maybelline Powder he recommended - yikes, that looked terrible. Then I tried my own powder and also did it without using any powder to set. Just didn't work well with any technique. I'm 68, btw. Thanks for giving it a go, though!

I think the trick for me is a light application -its not filling my wrinkles per say but it keeps my dry/wrinkle spots from getting foundation stuck and emphasizing that area

I love doing that! I never get extra lines. Interesting! Funny how people are so different. I just use a rice size amount of regular aquaphor, between both undereyes. I don't use the stick.

I use a lip balm (I can’t get aquaphor in Australia) then use a yellow colour corrector to brighten then finally I use concealer. I love it.

All the reviews I saw it’s a must to “set it” with the exact Maybelline product he recommended. I completely understand the fear in using it as I too NEVER SET my concealer or foundation, but that is what makes the hack work. I’m dry too so I completely get the fear in setting it, but that will show the true test. Have to follow his every step. 😉💖

I'm 69 and I've been using Aquaphor under my eyes for about 2 weeks. Works great for me. I don't use as much as you did. I run my finger across the tube then wipe under my eye. I also don't use as much concealer. Smoothes out the wrinkles and I usually don't need to reapply concealer. I never powder. I always enjoy your videos.

Ran across your channel and love your beauty recommendations! I am a former medical esthetician and enjoy your make up tips and tricks and reviews. What a sweet sweet kitty too!! Just started giving my kitties "Churu" treats, they go CRAZY for them! I'll pass that on from one kitty lover to another looking to brighten their day for all they give to us! Have a beautiful day! I wonder if the formulation of the SPF was perhaps a little more slippery than the regular aquaphor leading to the build up of settling?? Also, perhaps try one pass under the eye and just 2 at the crows feet area if you decide to try it without the SPF! I think your crows feet area looked smoother, but agree the under eye is too delicate for that additional step and it would be interesting to see if it was just the formula and/or the extra passes! 🥰❤😺🙏 love, Tara

I just started with one of those lickable treats and my kitty Daffy sits on the counter every afternoon staring at me until she gets her "snack." 🤣 I was looking all over my local Walgreens yesterday trying to find the non-SPF version of the Aquaphor to no avail. If I can find it, I will definitely grab it to compare (since I wear lip balm constantly anyway, so if it doesn't work for my eyes, it'll work for my lips!)

Hi Shelley I have seen this going around KZbin. I have super dry skin and undereyes due to eczema and rosacea. I will happily use a balm at night to seal in my skincare, but during the day under makeup I have used a second layer of eyecream for a long time. It isn’t as greasy as a balm (re mascara smudges) and it only needs the tiniest smidge of powder to set in place all day. I have all my skincare underneath and my hefty amount of spf, but putting a light layer of eyecream under my concealer makes it look better for me. Now my eyecream trick for dry undereyes isn’t trendy 😂, but I think you might like it better. The lipbalm used is very waxy and quite heavy so I think it would make the skin look heavier too. I don’t plan on trying it as I am happy with what I do instead. Best wishes x

A scroll through the comments will show a whole lot on both sides - lots of people it works for and lots of people it doesn't... much like pretty much anything in makeup! 🤣 One common theme I've seen is that it really seems to be dependent on using that specific Maybelline powder with it, and a few people have also said it only works with the more full coverage/cream concealers. Considering I have a few concealers that smooth me out on their own, I think I'll just stick with those!

I tried this a week or so ago but used the Aquaphor Healing Balm stick rather than the lip balm. I love the lip balm for my lips but was too stiff to use on my face. The balm stick worked fairly well. At the very least it kept my makeup from looking and feeling dry over the course of the day. I used it mostly on my 'smile' lines as they are the deepest and most noticeable. I've used the lip balm for years and lately wondered why I couldn't find it anywhere....now I know why! 😜 Maybe you could try the balm stick instead if you decide to experiment again. It has more slip and is not as stiff/thick of a formula. If you don't like it, use it on your feet/heels or other dry areas. 👍

@@goow The Balm Stick is a bigger tube and I think meant for larger areas of the body. Every other video I've seen trying this hack is using the lip balm like yours. When I use the balm stick, one swipe is all you need, then pat it into the skin to blend it out a bit. makeup goes on very smoothly. However, in the current heat/humidity wave, I'm not using it as I think it will just melt my makeup off altogether. 😬

Another reviewer suggested Bee Naturals eye balm, which she said worked better for her than the Aquaphor stick. I ordered a little pot of Bee Naturals. Since I haven't tried the Aquaphor stick, I can't compare it, but the BN didn't work. I used Danessa Myrick's concealer/foundation and IT Cosmetics pressed powder. I'm tempted to get an Aquaphor stick because I need a new lip balm anyway. I kind of doubt it will work any better under my eyes or other lines than the BN. The thing I noticed about Scott Barnes's video is he's working on an older lady who looks like she's had a ton of plastic surgery, fillers, and peels. I couldn't see any wrinkles on her skin in the first place. I don't know what to think except that Ziva is a goddess. I love it when she appears!

​@@goow Ziva looks so wise. You can almost see into her soul. Long before the Scott Barnes hack, I looked up Aquaphor lip balm on Ulta's website to see how it stacked up to other drugstore lip balms. I was surprised to read so many negative reviews saying it made their lips dry. I know this can be true of some lip balms. Eos and Neutrogena balms really dried out my lips, almost to the point of chapping. So, I'm a bit reticent to try Aquaphor on my mouth, but I'm curious about the eye and face wrinkle trick. I hope your lips are fine after using it. Blistex and Sun Bum lip balms work the best for me, but I want to see for myself how Aquaphor performs.

I think it depends on the formulation! It’s not a perfect fix, but I use it with my tower 28, Dior and trying it with Saie concealers. It’s ok! I’m 32 (but I have a few deep lines under my eyes) also tho, I noticed my coverage kinda goes away faster if I use it 🧐 not perfect but I don’t mind it! Still playing around with it.

No shade on you, but I think there's probably a world of difference between the lip balm you used and the other form of Aquaphor used by Mr. Barnes. Also, I'm sure the form he used did not contain SPF, and whatever skincare went under the Aquaphor was different than what you used. I set my concealers with a truly translucent powder, and anyone who would use Maybelline's Superstay as an undereyes setting powder is working on a very young model's face. Or baking an ugly cake. Thanks for the video, and for your always-chipper demeanor!

I did select the SPF version rather than the non-SPF, but the particular stick I chose is the one pictured in the thumbnail of his video (just the SPF version of it). Now that he's posted a couple more videos, it looks like he uses a few different versions of it as well.

If anyone stops to just think about the mixture of aquaphor and concealer consistency, you should know it’s not going to work. Barnes does not know what he’s doing.
