Our local Ford has an ungodly amount of vehicles on their lot. The dealerships took advantage of willing customers, but the unwilling ones aren't even getting near a dealership, if their smart. Shady tactics and markups are going to burn them. But the dealerships and the greedy corporations let it happen and never learn from their mistakes again and again.

The dealers here are all loaded with trucks. Some of them seem to keep stuff moving some I have seen the same trucks for months. Those dealers though have ridiculous market adjustments. We have 3 GMC dealers locally. I bought a Denali Ultimate recently. Only one I could find within 100 miles. Shortly after one of the other dealers got one in. They added $12k to the sticker. I actually got about $3k off sticker on mine and that is including taxes and all out the door I saved $3k even with taxes and all. That truck with the $12k over sticker they have had since Easter its still sitting on their lot. My truck I got the same time and they said it had only been there 2 days before I bought it and that it was the first one they had even had on the lot since every other one had been sold before they ever got it. The one bigger Ford dealer is just ridiculous. They have a couple F450s but not new ones they are a couple years old with 20k or more miles and they want as much for them as a brand new 23 cost. They have a Maverick for $49500. I didn't even know they made a Maverick that was that expensive. If I am spending $50k think I am gonna buy a real truck lol.

Here in Canada mortgage rates since 2015 have went from 2.74 percent to almost 7. What does that mean. A mortgage renewal means on a $400000 home a monthly payment of $1800 in 2015 will be $2700 in 2023 . Where is that $900 dollars going to come from ? You won’t be buying a new vehicle as often, and it won’t be a $100000 truck .

Good points about truck prices. I traded my 2019 RAM 1500 and got a car instead. I was NOT going to plunk down $60-70K for a new one, which is not even a top line model anyway. Yes, I lose the utility of a truck, but with a lot less in car payments I can rent a truck when I really need one.

As far as switches vs digital component controls, Ford and Toyota did a study a few years ago. Both came out with the same results, that people prefer the switch to searching through pages of tech to turn the radio down or lower the fan speed. By that time, Ford had already switched to a major tech heavy center console interface. Toyota had not yet changed over and they continued the easier, manual switches. Ford had already signed contracts with manufacturers, but slowly brought back the manual switches. I prefer a direct connection between my HVAC controls as well as my radio.

You have to consider that every truck manufacturer has jacked up their prices by $1000s these last few years, so the discounts Andre is pointing out aren't as generous as they may seem. If they jacked up the MSRP by $4000 and then offer a $5000 discount, that's nothing to rave about.

When it comes to truck inventory, in my area, it varies by dealership. When I bought my '23 Elevation Sierra this week (without market adjustments), I had over 40 trucks on the lot to choose from. They had every engine available from the TurboMax to the 6.2L as well as every trim level from the Pro to the AT4X AEV and Denali Ultimate. That dealership normally has over 100 trucks in stock. Going down the road, the local Dodge dealership has zero trucks in stock, just a couple of commercial truck bodies. Further down the road, the Toyota dealer has a couple of Tundra's, but that is it. The Ford dealer has about a dozen ICE F-150's. My GMC dealer had 4 Canyon Elevation 2wd models and the Chevy dealer down the road had a couple of base Trail Boss Colorado's. The Ford dealer didn't have any Rangers or Maverick's. The Toyota dealer didn't have any Taco's. I'm glad you touched on LED light swaps. STOP PUTTING LED HEADLIGHT BULBS IN YOUR VEHICLES THAT DIDN'T COME WITH LED'S!! Some people believe that one trip to AutoZone makes them a headlight expert. Because the LED's have a different reflecting light pattern than incandescent lights, the housings that were designed for incandescent lights make the LED's look like you are driving with your high beams on. I have never been flashed because of my factory LED's because they are aimed correctly and they have the proper housings. If you put the proper type of headlights into your housings, your lighting pattern will be just as good as LED's. If you are insistent on swapping to LED's, swap out the housings as well so you don't blind everyone around you. Another problem is ordering aftermarket LED headlight or taillight kits and thinking they are just plug-and-play, only to have them hyperflash or the LED's are so dim that you can't tell if you are hitting the brakes or not. There area couple of Tahoe's near me that did an Escalade taillight swap. They were done so poorly that you can barely tell if the brakes are on or not because the brake lights are dimmer than the third brake light.

that's a very good point regarding LED headlight replacement! I blind people with my LED and am constantly flicking my lights at them that I'm really on low beam after replacing my halogens with LED. I wound up re-aiming my headlights to ease the issue. You should NOT install LED lamps in non-reflective headlights.

After 25 years of driving F series trucks 150 to 350, all high end models, I got tired of the things falling apart when they pass 100k miles. Or, as the last F-150 KR did at 66K miles, broke the sun roof while it was getting inspected for a trade in. Why trade below my normal baseline? It was having electrical problems. I traded on a high end Tundra. Not the best fuel economy, but I feel like I stepped back to a time when a truck was a truck. It can be worked on, or maybe I should say modified, as it really doesn't need much maintenance. At 65k miles now and still happy. It still has all the nice things, and so far, no rattles. For my daily driver farm truck my next truck is very likely going to be gas. We have a 25' gooseneck, but some logistics have changed over the last few years. I think the only time I've hooked it up in the last two years is to move it from one part of a barn to another. I think I'm going to save that $10k on a new truck and get more payload which will be of more use to me. Like the guys said I make a ton of short trips around the farm and to town. Somewhere along the line my Cummins' DPF fell off and I haven't had a check engine light since. I've actually thought about get a decent old dually with a flatbed that can live at the farm, and start daily driving a half ton.

I love the Lightning- the speed, the frunk, filling up at home, but it's like Roman has said in the past- it's all about choice. If I had to tow long distances or if I road tripped long distances regularly then I would chose something else. For my needs (mostly a city truck); hauling the kids bikes around, driving to work, going to storage, going the the dump, Lowe's, etc. it's been by far the best truck I've owned.

That was always the job of the Tacoma, now you are seeing some decent mid sized trucks that aren't Tacoma's. I drove a Lighting and really liked the acceleration and all the driver assist features. But, and its a Woopie Goldberg sized but, the thing was too damn heavy, it felt kind of like driving the detached truck of a tractor trailer. The thing is huge and weighs over 8,000 lbs. Tacoma's don't feel that way, they actually feel a little sprots, acceptable as a daily driver.

Sure, there are discounts; but that only removes the dealer add-on markups. The MSRPs are still WAY too high for the average truck buyer. I've been sitting for two years on this, I have no mortgage, and I make a decent living with 4 years to retirement. The trucks I see are not what I want or need. I do not want to buy a truck with a living room inside. I have owned a two Chevy Silverados and a Toyota Tacoma in the last 10 year. All had a dang "Infotainment" system I never even used. My truck does not need to be a wireless hot spot. That is only there so the NSA knows where I am. The interior needs a speedometer, a tachometer, an oil pressure gauge and a volt meter. A gauge to monitor the transmission temperatures would be nice, also. The only other luxuries I might need (other than 4WD) is air conditioning, maybe. I need the money in the engine, suspension and transmission. What do all these gizmos add to the price, and are they value added? I do not believe so. If you pay over $50,000 you are being shucked. My 2019 Tacoma TRD Off Road stickered at $38,521 with a Reese type trailer hitch. And it towed a trailer with 2500 lbs. on it regularly without issue. And it had gizmos I never used. Until manufacturers understand what truck guys want (not city boys with their need for toys) they will not get our segment to swallow a $1200 dollar a month truck payment. And I can afford that (unlike most working men). And I do not want it.

Absolute wild. I’d rather pay the $115k for a new one cause 1. Just my truck, brings me around $70k ish a year. That’s above and beyond my regular wage. 2. Nice fresh warranty for any bs that magically pops up. And 3. Driving at least 2500 miles a month, it’s nice to be in something you like.

I’m not surprised about the commercial vehicles. The truck and car companies didn’t want to make them because they weren’t making as much as compared to the higher trim levels. Take the Colorado, I’m sure GM makes way more more money on their AT4 then a base white truck. Secondly, interest rates have gone up. Not just on cars but credit cards and mortgages. At some point people can’t afford 70,000K+ trucks. Lastly, no one should ever be paying MSRP for a GM, Ford or Ram/Jeep. They lose so much value, even on top of buying brand new and driving it off the lot. The reliability hasn’t been great. I could understand during Covid when there were shortages and someone was in an accident…. but now it’s just dumb to pay MSRP.

Regarding the F-150 Hybrid, comparing Toyota's Hybrid experience and reputation with that of Ford's is truly apples to oranges. I know Andre loved his, but he only had it for a year. If you’re pulling a 5er or gooseneck long distance, quite often, get the diesel. Even though the gasser may be capable, you’ll lose the convenience of being able to pull into the truck station to fill up and will be forced to share the gasoline pumps with the all of them crossovers and minivans with your long-ass trailer sticking out. Plus, carrying extra fuel is much more difficult with gasoline since the DOT restricts many options for auxiliary fuel tanks. But otherwise, absolutely don’t buy a diesel unless you really need one.

@jaysson1151 Жыл бұрын
Couldn’t agree more.

Let me help you out. Yes it's true trucks are piling up mainly because they are not affordable. With interest rates that are sky high. Prices that are above 80k for a nicely equipped truck and with dealers marking up the vehicles its a combo for disaster. Inventory is well above 160 days which is absolutely insane.

Thank you for finally answering Gas vs Diesel (which I know you have in the past) but just orders a new 2024 GMC 2500HD SLT Gasser in June and it should be here in September according to the dealer. It should be built the first week of August. I don't tow long distance. The longest I may tow is around 3 to 4 hours (one way) and this rare. And the worst towing terrain I would be going over is the Ozark Mountains. I just looked at it this way, if a mid-size truck that I like is pushing mid $60K and the half-ton trucks are the same price as a HD truck. Why not get the extra towing of a HD Truck. I would rather have the towing capacity more than I need and be stable on the road with a trailer than get a truck that would be closer to the max towing of what I need. Is this going over board with a truck. Probably, but with all the trucks no matter what size you get are so close in cost, I rather go over what I truly need than pay overprice. And I I'm getting the gooseneck prep package, just in case I need it in the future or for resale value (but I don't plan to sell it). I currently have a 2002 Ford F-150 2WD 5.4L and I've owned it since 2004 (when I started my first year of college). I have driven a RAM HD 6.4L Hemi with a gooseneck across the Ozarks (the long way) and it worked exactly how I wanted it. So I hope this new GMC 10-speed HD does the same. I have always wanted a Ford Super Duty or RAM HD, but I've been pricing and watching yours and multiple videos on the new GMC/Chevy HD trucks for MONTHS, and studying the HD Gas Trucks for YEARS. I hope I made the right choice, but it will be day & night to what I am use to with my 2002 F-150.

the problem with gassers is that they ain't built very tough. You need to keep loading down and especially in mountainous terrain. Diesels in contrast are designed from the ground up for big loading. I would NOT put a goosneck hitch in a gasser I can tell you that! Just the braking in hill country would be enough to dissuade me from doing something like that. Diesels also get 40% better mileage than a gasser and that disparity grows substantially if you're yanking stuff around. BTW I drive a 2000, F350 7.3 stick with the 4.1 ratio that I could easily pull 15k up to pikes peak.

Yes .... Trucks are piling up at dealer lots. I drive by two dealerships every single day without fail. They keep changing out the inventory trying to see if they can sell something else. So most recently they have swapped out Nissan frontier trucks for Nissan altimas at the dealership close to where I live. I'm also about a block from a Jeep dealership and they are piling up there also. Tons of used Jeep Wranglers etc are piling up running out of room. What's kind of strange is that the same time they appear to be renovating the dealerships I guess because sales are slow and they might as well do it now with the coronavirus money... Not sure what That is all about but they do appear to also be renovating in spite of the vehicle pile up which is strange maybe for a tax write off... who knows? For what it's worth I live in the wealthiest area in my state. So that's not the issue... So if they're not selling where I live they're not selling anywhere.

Regarding the "doorless" Cybertruck, it shows both on doors on the driver's side (image is mirror flipped). The front passenger side door could be open, it's not clear that the door is missing. What is clear is that a vehicle missing one or more doors would not be considered finished, nor would it make sense that it would progess down the assembly line with only one side being finished.

Have two newer model RR Sport w/ the ZF trans and TD6 diesel engine. 100k miles on both with no issues. I know they don't hold their value like other manufacturers, or get bashed, but I don't plan on getting rid of them. Looks like an inline 6 diesel is in the Ineos as an option, so they ditched the V6 TD6 option that was a joint venture Ford/Pugeot design. I think LR really messed up by not working with Ineos or selling them the tooling.

Always great content. I'm working on trading in my 2022 Black Diamon Bronco for a new truck and finding that the local dealers are offering $5k - $8k less than what the Kelly Blue Book trade in values are estimated as. The dealers do confirm the market is shifting a bit, but that shift toward lower prices aren't reflected in the pricing of their new Broncos at 5%-10% over MSR and their used Broncos still priced thousands above Kelly Blue book value. Is this an example of dealers trying to have their cake and eat it to?

Look for $20 to $30k incentives on expensive trucks soon. My 2018 f150 msrp was $60k and was $48k with incentives and haggle. It would be $75k for a 2023 of equal spec. There are some uogrades vs 2018 but not $27k better. $55k or I'll drive the 2018 until the wheels fall off. It doesnt matter if the manufacturers intentionally keep supply short, I'll never be in the market for a $70k truck until it has a $20k rebate and 0%apr.

EV trucks being on the lot for twice as long as ICE trucks could signal consumers aren’t happy with the product, especially for pricing. Aside from the fact I would never pay $100k for a luxury EV truck I can likely only use to tow 150 miles one way, I could essentially buy 2-3 ICE trucks (full or mid-sized) for the price of 1 EV truck. It’d be more manageable if rates were back down to 2-3%, but it’s next to impossible with rates at 6-7%. I understand the need to stay competitive with your competitors, but you can’t completely disregard your customers either.

The dealer I got my Denali Ultimate from had one of those Hummers in the show room. $115k which is the cheapest I ever seen one listed for. It was already sold but the buyer couldn't take it. They said the battery was leaking so they were waiting on GM to ship a new battery. Who knows how long that will take and I swear they said it was $60k to replace which makes sense since I think a battery for a Tesla is like $25-27k to replace.

In my experience, even ethenol gasoline and biodiesel blends store longer than you'd expect in a sealed container. Ethanol free gas and biodiesel free diesel will still be fuel for years if they're stored properly. I've run 20 year old diesel that was in the mostly full tank of an '85 Ford F350 that sat in a field for that long. It burned fine.

There are tons of trucks here. I don't think it has anything to do with them not selling, I am still not seeing much for 1 ton or bigger trucks though. The dealer I bought from is constantly selling, there are some others that I don't think are doing to well but they have a $5k or better markup on all trucks. I know we have 3 GMC dealers locally where I got mine they don't charge over MSRP I actually got my Ultimate for around $3k under sticker and that included sales tax and everything out the door. The other 2 though have market adjustments and I have seen some of the same trucks on their websites for 3-5 months now. I guess they can keep them if they want to tac on all that extra over sticker. I know the one had an Ultimate like mine but it was a 6.2 and they added $12k to the price. I could have got a 24 3/4 ton Ultimate at the dealer I got mine from for cheaper then the half ton at this other dealer. I know one of the local Ford dealers does have a couple F450s but they are a couple years old and they want as much for them as a new one cost. I have seen some sales though recently and I got some money off my Denali Ultimate when I bought it a few months ago. All the dealers around here seem to have at least 30 trucks. I guess there is some GM cab and chassis trucks so there is some bigger trucks I guess now I think about it but the only heavier trucks I am seeing on lots are GMs. One thing I noticed at the GM dealers I went to the half tons, it seemed like half of them were the LZ0. There wasn't many 6.2s. The guy at the GMC lot I got my Ultimate from told me that the 6.2 was getting prioritized to the Escalade at the time. I don't know if its true that is what he said but I think they had 2 trucks with the 6.2 on the whole lot and they had I think 40 trucks. My Ultimate and all the regular Denali were LZ0. All the AT4 trucks were Duramax too that they had. I was there for a loaded truck so I didn't really look to much at some of the lower trims but I know all the higher end half tons were all LZ0 that they had every single one of them.

The reason the delta between gas and diesel is coming closer together has to do with a few things. One cheaper to front, two gas is now cheaper than diesel, gas engines get better fuel economy when not towing, the emissions garbage taking life away from diesels so they no longer last longer than gas engines, and lastly is the fact with the emissions stuff now it’s horrible to commute with a diesel.
