when a f150 squats it levels the truck out. just because it drops 3 inches don't mean that's bad it's just leveling out the truck
@jessehernandez50438 жыл бұрын
Mikey Dempsey it's bad because squat generally lifts the front end up a little bit making the steering feel "looser/lighter" also your headlights tilt upward meaning you might be blinding the person in front of you. also your hitch height that was selected for your trailer most likely wasn't calculated with your squat, which affects tongue weight when braking putting more stress on the axle. yes squatting matters a lot.

Funny is when you look at the video of the chevy it was past normal temp almost looking like it was getting hot going up the IKE. The ford didnt go past normal temp.
@averyalexander23035 жыл бұрын
Remember that not all temp gauges work the same way. Some vehicles will "lock" the temp gauge at around half within a normal range, but on some vehicles, the gauge will move if the temp changes at all. For example, on my Honda Civic, the temp gauge will read just below half when the actual coolant temperature is between 170 and 230, so if the gauge moves at all, there is a problem. However, on my Dodge Stratus, the gauge will move around a little depending on load and traffic, which is normal for that car.

@windsbra127 жыл бұрын
John G actually you are wrong on how the shifting works you can lock out gears when you are in drive or go into manual mode and it will hold the gear and shift up when you select up and it will stay in gear untill you slow down to the point where your under 1000 rpm then it will downshifts regardless but I can shift my truck in 5 gear doing 20 and punch it and it will not dowshift when in manual mode untill I tell it too

YEAR IN REVIEW of my 2016 f-150 5.0 with 3.73. simple stuff first i got an XLT with most ad-dons you can get for the trim. the most lack luster of them is the touchscreen radio. i drive a lot and the Bluetooth bugs out randomly i wish i would have gone after market. Tow mirrors are incredible, sport package with center shift is awesome, speakers sound great without that sub-woofer add-on. So now the nitty gritty, 30k miles in one year. Towed at least 8k miles of that. My fuel economy for the life of the truck is 16.4 mpg(i never reset the dash gauge). now let me elaborate on that, in the city i am ALWAYS in sport mode(yea im that guy). highway i always cruise control 2-3 above speed-limit. While towing mpg my 9k travel trailer the fuel economy was around 9mpg at 55-65mph( never above 25mph winds!). towed a light 4k vehicle on tow dolly 4000 miles and did not affect mpg very much got around 17.4mpg for the trip . Have taken the truck in ditches and on the beach 4x4 works awesome and never really needed to lock the axle.(stock tires) all and all im very happy with the fuel economy and perfomance of the truck. no work needed in any fashion just regular oil changes and a tire rotation. *So the first year of purchase was great, love the truck and its engine. 9/10* only draw back was the shitty touchscreen.

Anyone remember they said the Chevy had 373 gears in that video? I think they even displayed it on screen🤷

I drive a Toyota why would I get a FLT shirt, they slam the tundra for a MSRP of 47180 for a TRD Pro but a F150 at almost 56K is a premium product, ridiculous

there's nothing nice about the TRD besides shocks and exhaust . everything else is bland and out of date. and gets crappy mpg

My brother has gm trucks and f-150s they drive at work and he drives a ram for his daily driver. People drive f-150 just because everyone else does.

Can anyone better explain the comment about writing the truck off on your taxes? Why would the specific GCWR and GVWR values of this truck make it more advantageous for writing it off as a business vehicle?
@h0ush8 жыл бұрын
@9:35 you say the 5.3 had a 3.42 axle but that video says 3.73. For being 300lbs over max gcvwr, 3.55 gears and high altitude, I'd say the F150 held its own quite well for the test and gave an impressive run. I personally have a 15' lariat screw 4x4 sport 5.0 3.55 and its just a great setup without worrying about turbos plus you can't get a better sounding v8!
@donaldweber76368 жыл бұрын
+YaBoiScoots The fuel economy, especially in the city, is really poor with the 6.2.
@donaldweber76368 жыл бұрын
+Thomas Murphy I think the video is wrong as a 3.73 rear end isn't listed as an option on the Silverado. Then again, I can't find the eight speed option.
@h0ush8 жыл бұрын
+Donald Weber I believe you are correct as the gm site only shows 3.23 and 3.42 as options. Fuel economy is pretty bad on the 6.2 and the 5.0 gets better mpg than my 05 Frontier 4.0 did.
@donaldweber76368 жыл бұрын
There is one trim package where the 3.73 option shows up. Funnily, Chevy's website promotes the eight speed, but it doesn't show as an option.
@nathanmcdonald6108 жыл бұрын
+Donald Weber Yeah, on the topic of the 6.2L. That's one downside to Ford's OHC design. The OHV design of the GM 6.2L means they can incorporate their cylinder shut off system, Ford's SOHC 6.2L is to complicated to affordably do that to. The only reason GM's 6.2L performs the way it does is because it's mated to an optimized 8-speed transmission, the closely spaced ratio's of the 8-Speed combined with cylinder deactivation means that it accelerates well and gets decent mileage. Apple's to apples comparison though...I always felt Fords 6.2L was superior to GM's.

Nice run. Never been a fan of the Fords interior. Do like the split screen of the truck and interior camera views. Keep it up!

Just out of curiosity why don't you guys use the cruise control on the truck?
@boss1234008 жыл бұрын
Lack of anticipation of traffic, therefore, loss of momentum. If there were no traffic, then you could do that, and get the autonomous mapping results.

I currently have a 2014 RAM 5.7 that is coming up on lease. I LOVE the 5.7 for the torque but am contemplating possibly trying out Ford as I have owned all other brands. Obviously I will test drive but wonder if the 5.0 will be up there with the 5.7. And I don't really want the 3.5.

It's funny they make a big deal about the squat being 3 inches on the Ford but the 6.2 GM Denali had 3 inches and they were "segment leading" and "not bad, looks pretty good!" Lol.

To me, nothing is more important than the uphill towing score. It should be weighted much more heavily. Also, during the 5.3 test, do we even know that they had tow/haul mode activated?

Question, I have the 2015 xlt with the 5.0 6 speed. I went with the base model because it was in my budget and I needed the 6 seats for the family. Is the towing capacity the same? I want to tow a trailer and my 3500lb mustang.
