+YaBoiScoots And that doesn't seem silly to you? I get the point of the subjective score for things like interior quality and layout, noise, how it felt driving, but incorporating appearance isn't really helpful for those using these reviews to make purchasing decisions, which is presumably the point of them. I love these Ike Gauntlet videos and most TFL reviews overall, that's the only part I have an issue with

@@nativeoutdoors1780 not good 😂😂 broke down twice and spent nearly $4000 in repairs. I love the look and how spacious the truck is, but I will absolutely never get another ford… my Toyota had 8x the miles this ford has, and never once went to a shop. I’ve had this ford for 3 months and my radiator has blown, both turbos went out, vacuum pump went out, all cylinders have had a misfire since owning, drive shaft was bent, new transfer case, and cv joints needed replacing… and I didn’t tow a big camper up to Alaska by any means, only 3500 pounds, maybe 5,000 loaded. By far the worst vehicle ever owned, stay far away!! And when you do break down, parts are not cheap. My vacuum pump that just went out cost me $900 for just the part… shop quoted me at $1900 to replace, and took me maybe 30 minutes to replace with KZbin and hand tools

@@devinbrita3770 yikes I'm sorry to hear that sir. Sounds to me you got one that was in rough shape from a previous owner. And that happens with any brand but sucks that it happened to you. Hopefully your truck has been fine since the repairs, the Ecoboost engines are good but I don't think I would ever get one, I'm more of a superduty guy since I can get a crew cab and a 8ft bed. I've heard good reviews from ford's and I certainly lovey ford's and am a die hard fan, but it does dishearten me when things go wrong, wish they never did and when they do that we can create a better part to solve the issue completely.

My family has had several ford vehicles in the past, and not a single one of them made it to 215,000 miles, which in my stance, is not terribly high. We’ve had Toyotas and Lexus vehicles that have made it to the 500,000 mile mark with no issues, only reason they didn’t keep going is because of sn accident!! So it’s not easy switching over haha.

when a f150 squats it levels the truck out. just because it drops 3 inches don't mean that's bad it's just leveling out the truck
@jessehernandez5043
@jessehernandez5043 7 жыл бұрын
Mikey Dempsey it's bad because squat generally lifts the front end up a little bit making the steering feel "looser/lighter" also your headlights tilt upward meaning you might be blinding the person in front of you. also your hitch height that was selected for your trailer most likely wasn't calculated with your squat, which affects tongue weight when braking putting more stress on the axle. yes squatting matters a lot.

4 seconds difference over an 8 mile stretch hardly constitutes an inability to maintain speed. "cheesy" interior is only a matter of opinion, and what is so "sub par" about the build quality? In the shop I work in, we see about 3 Chevy trucks for every one Ford which comes in. I like them both, but I'd rather own the Ford. +Escape for Mankind I'm glad that you recognize my genius, however, you seemed to have missed the point of my previous comment. You should also be aware the that manual shift mode on trucks do not operate the same way as they do on cars, unfortunately. It will only allow you to select the maximum gear, not allow you to hold a tall gear. for example, if you were to manually select 8th gear, the transmission will use all of gears below 8th just as it would in "Drive"
@windsbra12
@windsbra12 6 жыл бұрын
John G actually you are wrong on how the shifting works you can lock out gears when you are in drive or go into manual mode and it will hold the gear and shift up when you select up and it will stay in gear untill you slow down to the point where your under 1000 rpm then it will downshifts regardless but I can shift my truck in 5 gear doing 20 and punch it and it will not dowshift when in manual mode untill I tell it too

@averyalexander2303
@averyalexander2303 5 жыл бұрын
Remember that not all temp gauges work the same way. Some vehicles will "lock" the temp gauge at around half within a normal range, but on some vehicles, the gauge will move if the temp changes at all. For example, on my Honda Civic, the temp gauge will read just below half when the actual coolant temperature is between 170 and 230, so if the gauge moves at all, there is a problem. However, on my Dodge Stratus, the gauge will move around a little depending on load and traffic, which is normal for that car.

YEAR IN REVIEW of my 2016 f-150 5.0 with 3.73. simple stuff first i got an XLT with most ad-dons you can get for the trim. the most lack luster of them is the touchscreen radio. i drive a lot and the Bluetooth bugs out randomly i wish i would have gone after market. Tow mirrors are incredible, sport package with center shift is awesome, speakers sound great without that sub-woofer add-on. So now the nitty gritty, 30k miles in one year. Towed at least 8k miles of that. My fuel economy for the life of the truck is 16.4 mpg(i never reset the dash gauge). now let me elaborate on that, in the city i am ALWAYS in sport mode(yea im that guy). highway i always cruise control 2-3 above speed-limit. While towing mpg my 9k travel trailer the fuel economy was around 9mpg at 55-65mph( never above 25mph winds!). towed a light 4k vehicle on tow dolly 4000 miles and did not affect mpg very much got around 17.4mpg for the trip . Have taken the truck in ditches and on the beach 4x4 works awesome and never really needed to lock the axle.(stock tires) all and all im very happy with the fuel economy and perfomance of the truck. no work needed in any fashion just regular oil changes and a tire rotation. *So the first year of purchase was great, love the truck and its engine. 9/10* only draw back was the shitty touchscreen.

I love the Ford 5.0. I like the exterior look. I don't like their interiors tho, never have. I'm not surprised it did well. The 5.0 is a good engine. I wonder if they'l put a few more gears in the trans tho, not necessarily for towing but for highway driving.

@9:35 you say the 5.3 had a 3.42 axle but that video says 3.73. For being 300lbs over max gcvwr, 3.55 gears and high altitude, I'd say the F150 held its own quite well for the test and gave an impressive run. I personally have a 15' lariat screw 4x4 sport 5.0 3.55 and its just a great setup without worrying about turbos plus you can't get a better sounding v8!

+Donald Weber Yeah, on the topic of the 6.2L. That's one downside to Ford's OHC design. The OHV design of the GM 6.2L means they can incorporate their cylinder shut off system, Ford's SOHC 6.2L is to complicated to affordably do that to. The only reason GM's 6.2L performs the way it does is because it's mated to an optimized 8-speed transmission, the closely spaced ratio's of the 8-Speed combined with cylinder deactivation means that it accelerates well and gets decent mileage. Apple's to apples comparison though...I always felt Fords 6.2L was superior to GM's.

In this video you say the 5.3L, 8-speed Silverado previously tested had a 3.42 axle ratio. But in the actual Silverado video you linked in this video, you note (@ 1:59) the Silverado had the 3.73 axle ratio. Which ratio did it have? It may explain why it had a lower towing mpg than this F-150 3.55 ratio.

They should just use cruise control already and intervene if necessary, but the fact is every test is a little different with a different throttle jockey. It's bizarre that they measure brake applications, is the truck supposed to maintain the speed by telepathy? Cruise will induce engine braking on all brands, it just happened that the ford had a second gear that was matched with the correct axle ratio to grade brake without intervention. Also, using cruise on the Ford will completely stop the 3rd to 2nd hunting that most trucks experience at max towing capacity, but Damn>>>That coyote V8 is SWEET.

The time portion can not be fair unless you use cruise control. I tow frequently, my truck has no issues downshifting while towing. Look at all the technology in the new luxury trucks. Adaptive steering and cruise control, yet TFL still thinks a truck can't go up a hill in cruise. How about starting from a stop at the lights, full throttle till 60mph, cruise control. If for some reason the vehicle disengages cruise control, deduct 5 points from the time portion and continue with deducting a point for every five seconds over eight minutes. That way, any human error or inconsistency in maintaining sixty will be the fault of the manufacturer that was unable to handle a steep grade. If I am going to purchase a Platinum, Limited or Denali, I don't want to have to throttle the peddle every time I hit a steep grade. Do you know how irritating that would be driving in NL, Canada. The vehicle's ability to remain in cruise during long trips with grades is paramount. If it can't, I won't buy it.

Ford is a very popular manufacturer and they make good powerful trucks, cars, and vans. idk about their mustangs, but the past 10 or more years I've noticed the E-250 that was bought brand new in 2002 needed 2 transmission over hauls under 100,000 miles. As for the 2 F-250s we bought brand new in 2014, the inside features like air vents and buttons have snapped off already. Ac stopped working in one. Also we've had both of them go into the shop 4 times because when you'd use the emergency brake, the trucks wouldn't start the next time we'd go to use them. causing us to have to call a guy out to get it started! what ever the sensor is, it keeps breaking. and as for the 2015 F-150 we bought recently, the instrument cluster has taken 2 shits and had to be replaced twice. our company is small and those are all the vehicles we have. and they are all working fine now after over a dozen trips to the shop for repair work. I think people are better off buying a used Ford. That way all the bull shit that comes with a Ford is already fixed lol even then it might blow up with dicks in your face. which sux because I like Ford! Just wish some of their brand new stuff wouldn't fall apart under 30,000 miles.

+Ryan Meeks and no we don't abuse them. we take very good care of our trucks, wash them every month. follow every mainframe procedure. we don't overload them with material or anything. I just think they need to tighten up on their employees and robots in the assembly line for better quality control. the materials are good, I just don't think they're put together properly because of the lack of discipline on the assembly lines.

Also how is it that the chev was slowing down to 53-54 at the top yet the ford was doing 60 at the top and ran a slower run. That tells me there's driver error, why not just set the cruise at 60 and let the truck maintain that speed, it'll do a better job of keeping that speed and therefore a more accurate time.

@mtb4l673

The Silverado's cabin was way more quiet climbing, had less squat, looks better, and managed to get only 66 points lol. This review is a biased joke. From the beginning you can hear Mr. truck flooring it to try and beat the Silverado's time but failed. Then on the downhill the video is cut and we hear that the brake was only applied 3x, while in the Silverado's video it too gets cut and reported to have had to use the brake 10x. I'm sure a truly unbiased reviewer would have the silverado winning everywhere except mpg, which is expected.

these guys seem biased in fords favor. roman drives a raptor and kent is always talking ford up with stories about back on the farm how great and easy to work on the fords were vs the gm trucks and i think he owns a ford if i remember correctly. i really wish they would do more real world towing. the ike is awesome to watch and a true testament to the reliability of these trucks under full demand but does not give an accurate representation of how these trucks tow in every day situations like on and off the job site, highway and interstate towing, these are the situations most of us truck owners find ourselves towing in. with that being said i love watching the videos just wish the rating system was more fact orientated and no so much like "yeah i really liked this truck i give it a 20". keep up the cool truck videos!!
