I really enjoy this channel and wish you all the best...unfortunately for me a LOT of this story doesn't add up. It is not cheap to fit out and rent space in Emquartier. How many highly priced vegan cakes can you sell in Bangkok? There is no shortage of delicious desserts in Bangkok, arguably some of the best dessert selection (Thai and Western) in the world. Thailand is where I first discovered Banana Bread 20 years ago. And successfully running the business while being in England for 7 months during Covid? Not meaning to be negative and she is a great lady that I wish all the best but there are some gaping holes in this story (acknowledging you cant fit someone's entire life into a 20 minute interview). Thanks for creating the video and to the Banana Warrior for doing the interview.

I have lived in Thailand long enough that you just don’t open up a business without having the finances, and a Thai partner you can trust. The restaurant looks very spacious and modern, ( not a hole in a wall) so I felt there was a big gap in this successful entrepreneur story. Who was “we”? “We decided to open the cafe.” Big money is needed to open such a business and someone has to know the restaurant business- not how to bake banana bread. Julia’s personality is very likable and comes off as a leader in anything she does. I wish her the best.
@sebastianniqvist31442 жыл бұрын
True, the devil is in the details. I’ve also heard that a Thai partner is a must for any business. If it works for her then is great but in reality things are much harder. Healthy food, vegan food and all those new age dietary tendencies are good but I much rather sell to 80% of the population and appeal to the masses rather than a small segment. Her restaurant looks awesome and good luck to her but I also feel lots of details are missing.

Great interview, although I was confused when she spoke about not being able to find any healthy food in Thailand when she originally came. Thailand is rich is fruits and so many meals can be prepared raw with no meat like papaya salad , coconut soup, etc… Thai cuisine is world famous for being able to use so little ingredients but still taste so good. I ate at some vegan resteraunt in Bangkok and they were all delicious, I’ll have to stop at her restaurant and try something out.

Glad to see a British Woman explain about being 'left on the side'. Basically, the complete opposite to London. Unless your rich, famous or excessively good looking you get 'left on the side' in London. British women fall for these foreigners in London but foreign women in London seem to avoid English Guys who approach them like we're only after one thing or like we're something worse and should be avoided for their own safety. You see it in the Nightclubs, Bars everywhere in London. Average White British Male in London you don't stand much chance. However if your Female you have your pick of Guys in London - Native or Foreign. I lived in London for 5 years and Bangkok for nearly as long. This Woman speaks the truth.

@@chickengod9184 Technically there is nothing wrong with it, its been like that since the beginning of times, you want to feel younger so you look for a younger mate. Whats also real is seeing a man who can't control his desires, and looking at a 60+ man with a 20 year old just feels wrong, universally worldwide. An older male hawking for a chick who could be his daughter communicates a couple of things CLEARLY. It means that man couldn't date in his age range or didn't want to. He could not maintain the prior relationships or couldn't make it work. Youg people are dumb and easy to manipulate so its softcore pedo behaviour and it just feels WRONG. Also her love/hate relationship with BKK (and actually that applies to most of LoS). Interestingly, of her likes and dislikes, her relationship/interactions with Thais themselves stayed out of the picture, only regarding staff, but not on a personal level. The food is great, etc etc, but climate too hot, but no comment about the Thais, which is in its core what makes Thailand. Let's call it being diplomatic? ;) Good luck with what ever comes her way, and I surely will visit the Banana Warrior should I be in the capital.

Interesting that staff can just walk out. I find that a common Thai trait. They are usually 110% committed (the missus) or away with the fairies. A brilliant interview. She seems delighted to offload her experiences. We do love to blabber!

Inspiring entrepreneurial shtory! This lady is so full of life, if only we can bottle that enthusiasm .. the negative criticisms you will get from a topic like this, are unfortunately typical of men that feel threatened by strong, beautiful women. Aside Pete, consider doing a live stream one of these days maybe with Noon ? Would be great to get some live Q&A going on you guys.

Brilliant, I enjoyed Julia's enthusiasm and honesty. Variety is the spice of life and it was a pleasure to hear her thoughts about life in Thailand

Lovely lady. I like her comment about not making dating important.

Most Thai women are beautiful and polite .. bit of a non starter there for her.

Very Enterprising Woman with a good head on her shoulders. In Thailand it's great to see and i have always found the Thai women to be more of a can do attitude to making things work and wanting their business ideas to grow. From her body language though i doubt she will be staying in the land of smiles for the long haul, but best of luck to her anyway.
