Omg, these people also bug me so much. People make legitimate criticisms for example the new Thrawn missing two code cylinders (no problem with Thrawn and Tarkin in 2016 and 2017): "Cry over some piece of plastic having two less silver dots". Yeah, you probably buy anything with a little blue and white as long as Lego tells you it is supposed to be Thrawn. Or the new slave Leia. Dual mold is simply not accurate. "Oh, you can not jrk off to some piece of plastic anymore". For real: The movie is old. Really old. The ppl buying this set have all seen the movie, THE SOURCE (and a far better material to jrk off to than a blocky mini plastic figure). And if this outfit, which is an elementary part of that scene is so inappropriate, DO NOT DO THAT VERY SCENE AS A LEGO SET **FOR ADULTS**! I think it’s almost a guarantee that the first $1000 set will be a UCS Death Star, but in 2027, not 2025. 2027 is the 50 year anniversary of Star Wars, and that’s gonna be a HUGE deal culturally. It would make the most sense to wait until then.

*My thoughts & predictions on this set:* - It's gonna be very similar to the 2008 & 2016 UCS Death Star but will have an upgraded interior & have panels around it. - It will actually look very similar to the planets featured in the Lego Rebuild The Galaxy shorts. It'll look like a proper sphere. - There are gonna be around 35 minifigures but less than 10 exclusive ones & includes a brick build Mouse - & Interrogation Droid. - The 2016 UCS Death Star was €500/$500 for 3896 pieces. Expect around 6500 pieces for it & around €0,15/piece. - There will only be an interior & laser beam. No Darth Vader's TIE Advanced as a side-build or other loose small builds. - Minifigure selection will be close to the 2016 UCS Death Star but just with more Imperial troops.

That set would have to have everything: -Bigger than the last Death Stars -Fully closable interior -No Sticker, everything printed -a brutal minifig lineup with basically almost every character seen on any Death Star My minimum requirements for the minifig selection: Palps, 2 Vaders (ANH version AND RotJ version), 3 Lukes (disguise, farmboy with stormtrooper belt, RotJ), 2 Hans (disguise, normal with stormie belt, legs dual mold and print like 2018 cloud city), Chewy, Leia, Ben Kenobi, R2-D2, C-3PO, Tarkin, all Death Star Conference members (them being Yularen, Tagge, Motti, Romodi, Molock, Cass and Bast), Jerjerrod (if Lego would be rly premium, they give him the correct rank bar of a Moff), Krennic, that blue imperial astromech, that black imperial protocol droid, that one imperial officer reporting to Vader that no one is aboard the Falcon, min. 2 black uniformed officers, min. 4 navy troopers, min. 2 imperial crew light grey jumpsuit with black hat, min. 2 royal guards, min. 3 imperial gunners, min. 6 stormtroopers. So at least 45 minifigs. Figs that can be added but do not necessarily imo: Full black uniformed imperial crew, more grey uniformed officers: normal and ANH specific with single breasted jackets and normal trousers without boots, officers with light grey jacket and black hat and trousers, the ISB officer with Yularen when they pass our heroes at the elevator, the 6 advisors of the Emperor, the space stormtroopers seen outside the hangar in ANH, TIE pilots and ofc always just more troopers/crew. Ofc the figs are highest standards, imperial crew and pilots with arm prints, officers when they wear boots and non black trousers with dual mold legs and so on. What did I miss? With all that being listed I am already prepared for some big disappointments considering how Lego went on the last big sets. I can kind of live for example when the set still only has the currently normal Vader, they do not include a couple of the unnamed officers and crew I listed and do a few less troopers and crew. But I am afraid Lego will also not do the full Death Star conference and give us at max two of these participants additionally to Tarkin and Vader considering we never got them in the two predecessors and this would at least for me be a huge letdown. Same for characters like Krennic and Jerjerrod, especially the latter. Knowing Lego I would even calculate the probability higher for them making a Death Star without any interior and just 2-4 figs than that Death Star with fully closable interior and somewhat satisfying minifig lineup.

45 minifigures is an insane wish. I think your trooper numbers and some of the misc like the droids is a stretch by Lego’s history. I could see 30. I think you’re right on that this is the perfect set for all those named characters from the conference room that otherwise don’t get the chance to be made. And if there aren’t minfigs/interior builds for this set, it better be exceptionally massive

The droids were the ones the 2016 also already included, I did not add anything new here. Also no excuse this time to miss Krennic and Jerjerrod. One could argue to get a few less troopers to still being able to call the minifg lineup "ok". "Ok" is not "good". "Only the best is good enough"? $ 1000. Four digits. No excuses for Lego anymore.

I feel like, for this to work, the only downside has to be the cost. If they cut any corners with this set, like doing sticker sheets instead of printed bricks its gonna cause a backlash. If price is the only reasonable reason not to buy it, then I think it could do alright

Lego just keeps pushing it and pushing it and for someone who grew up on this brand, not gonna lie, it’s becoming hard to support it and enjoy the hobby. Lego just doesn’t feel the same anymore or at least the same way it felt when i was growing up. Feel like in some sense, they’ve kinda lost there way, that touch if you will. All i keep seeing are overpriced redos on thing’s people would love to get but are nearly out of reach for some. I’ve been blessed to be able and pick up a set here and there but it’s getting much more difficult now unless your an influencer and apart of LAN, then you’ll get that for free lol so yeah.

Everyone who wants a Lego Death Star is absolutely tapped. It's a grey ball. You'll get none of the detail you want on the outside, nothing in the trench. God, that 2005 model is ugly. For a grand it better come with a working planet destroying laser. It needs huge interior cutaways and a bunch of minifigures. It has to be incredibly modular/open on hinge pieces at the very least. Oh and a Falcon and Vader Tie Fighter sidebuild. A grand? JFC.

I'd glad I'm not the only one that hates stickers in Lego. I've paid an arm and a leg over the years (as I know the rest of us have) so I think the community has paid more than enough for custom prints. I bought the Droideka set and one of the stickers wouldn't stick. Ridiculous.

In all honesty, I'm kinda torn on this. On one hand, the Death Star is the largest vehicle that is iconic in Star Wars, so having it be massive is amazing. On the other hand... 99% of us don't have the money OR the storage for that. It would fit well with the mini ships like the Executor and the Home One, but yeah that is very expensive.

$1k for any kind of Lego set whatsoever is going to set a dangerous precedent for the future, and the fact that many in the comments are so excited to spend that kind of money is even more so. This is Lego finally dipping their toe into the water to see if fans will eat up such an absurd price tag, and when they do we're going to see many more sets at that price in the coming years. One set for that price might seem like a good idea, but Lego getting away with this will send ripples throughout the entire company's collection of product lines, not just Star Wars. "It's the biggest, baddest thing" is not a good enough justification for demanding that kind of money, and paying in installments is not an excuse to charge it either, at the end of the day this is a plastic building toy, not your house or car. No matter how the set itself is executed, it's going to recieve mountains of backlash on release solely for the price tag alone, and any possible nitpick will only add to that. Be it print quality, figure count, lacking sufficient interior or exterior detailing or god forbid a sticker sheet, fans will use any excuse to turn on Lego even after willingly spending that kind of money. Even if all of these aspects are done to absolute perfection, I think this will be a make or break set for many Lego fans. Lego being a collector's product is not a bad thing, but pushing way too far into that direction shows for a fact that the company is losing sight of what they started as.

Once they break the $1,000 frontier there is no coming back - it will happen again for sure. I'm ok with not owning every LSW set and I probably won't ever own one of the super expensive UCS sets. Not every set needs to be for every customer. A $1,000 Death Star simply must be a cross of a UCS and MBS set, so I agree with all the comments about having loads of high quality minifigures. It would be interesting if you could build either the Death Star I or the Death Star II from the parts, although that may feel like wasted money if either way you end up with lots of parts in the box.

Man, I really don’t want to spend $1000 on a Death Star, but the Death Star II was my dream set when I was a kid. It’s going to be really hard not to pick this set up, especially if it’s going to be as detailed as I’m hoping it will be. I can imagine that there will be minifigures with this set, and if there’s minifigures, then hopefully there will be an interior where you can take off the panels. Definitely hyped for this one to see what it’ll look like, I as well hope it’s a Death Star II so it’ll have more character to it rather than a gray ball. But I’ll be happy with either to be honest.

Man I can’t wait for this genuinely I didn’t ever get a chance to get the older ones as a kid it’s always been my dream set it’s gonna be super hard not to get this I rlly hope the minifigs have like 25-30 and a lot of printed pieces I also had to have a full interior or it’s a instant skip for me but probably not gonna get any other sets for the whole of 2025 as the only sets I want is the Arc 170 and Jango Fetts Slave 1 but ima wait for this set and see how it is before buying and gonna start saving to get this if it’s very good.

My predictions; it will be a more highly detailed and ‘rounded’ version of the previous one with 18-24 minifigs. It won’t be bigger in size. It will have stickers. It won’t be more than 10,000 pieces; the UCS Falcon was $800 (now $850 rrp) for 7500 pieces with ~ 8 minifigs and was released 7 years ago. Do you honestly think in 2025 Lego is going to release a better ‘value’ Star Wars set?

I personally don't care about what minifigs might be included or having an interior. I'd rather it be like the death star 2 and just be a highly detailed MASSIVE set that i can display proudly. The focus should be on the set not accessories
