Mazda's Crosstrek rival just got better and way faster this year with a turbo engine that makes it quicker then most of its luxury rivals from Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz. Would you guys consider buying this over a far pricier luxury brand?
@OldThomMerton3 жыл бұрын
I'm not a luxury brand guy . . . I'm more interested in performance, especially handling, and I've owned and liked Mazda vehicles; the steering feel is usually great and previous vehicles in their line always had a fine suspension even in base vehicles. Sadly, Mazda is pushing towards that 'white area' (A|A reference) with the Buick and Cadillac and the semi-luxury types . . . and they are being forced there because the leadership at Hyundai and Kia have out-Mazda-ed Mazda, bringing really sporty and fun cars to the market; meanwhile Mazda can't seem to keep up and their products are not as sporty and fun-to-drive as they used to be.

@Ayush Malpeddi because at the time, Hyundai and Kia had a reputation for making garbage cars (of course today is a different story) but Mazda doesn’t have such a history or stigma, their worst was probably the 00s when Ford was at the helm but even then they were still decent. To me part of the eloquence of the CX30 is that is retains simple, clean, easy to read and operate gauges and controls and allows you to easily focus more of your energy on enjoying driving it. The gauges remind me more of European cars of the past, with few gimmicks; and the shifter, remaining a traditional stick is something that everyone I speak to agrees needs to remain in vehicles -- nobody like these rotary dials, and it's the one big thing I don't like about my Ram truck. And there's nothing wrong with the 6 speed transmission. I've had some 6 speeds I've loved, and had no issues with the 9 speeds I've had on our Cherokees -- they performed very well; but didn't offer the traditional sensations and sound effects a 6 speed still provides. And is someone looking for this sort of performance in this segment -- Heck yeah! I actually had an older customer with a 2.0L Ecoboost boasting to me about how fast it was. Is it something I'm interested in myself, too? Heck yeah!

I don't think it should've been the standard engine on either the CX-30 or Mazda3, I have the Mazda3 turbo but I've driven plenty of the nomral 2.5 Mazda3 and CX30, their performance is plenty enough for most. Only power hungry people like me (or Sofyan) really need the turbo.

@Keith Rogers The Jetta has a 1.4TSI (C&R tested it and did 7.6s to 60mph), not a 1.6 (it should be getting a new 1.5 with pretty much the same torque and power numbers). And I don't think it can feel weak when compared to that car, the Mazda3 with the 2.5 NA is actually faster (7.2s in AWD form which is heavier and has greater drive train loss) and does not have the classic 1.4 TSI turbo lag (and no one is brake torquing their car at every stop light). I've driven both cars extensively and I couldn't disagree more with your comment. Although both are great cars, I don't see where you get your information from. Also, Corolla, Forte, Elantra, base Civic have NA engines, so not most cars come with turbo engines, for most people who just want or need a commuter car Turbo is not essential, and not all turbos are faster than NA engines.

I've had this car as a rental for a week now and cannot wait to give it back. Pros: rides good, looks good, quiet, handles great, decent power from the base 4 cylinder. Cons- way to much tech for me. Auto wipers came on at odd times or would go from low to high for no reason. Auto high beams blinded people. No touch screen, took forever to figure out the knob. Radio control not on the dash, I have turned the ac up and down so much. Minus the tech and I would like the car

Have you driven a new Mazda? Mazda now has some of the quietest vehicles in class. I’ve owned a 17 6, 18 CX5 and now a 20 3 hatch and 20 CX5. I can literally see/hear the improvement year by year as it has been that dramatic. Mazda engineers made at least 49 refinement changes to the Mazda3 when they launched the latest generation in 2019. People need to test drive a new Mazda and see..... my new 3 has the interior/quietness of something you won’t find elsewhere in its class.

Why does this guy continue to review Mazda cars? Almost every comment he makes is negative. When he actually does say something positive, he follows up with yet another negative remark. Even when he was driving and testing the turbo engine it looked like he was fighting himself to keep a straight face and not enjoy the “zoom zoom”. So disappointing.
@thinkaboutit60293 жыл бұрын
This guy is hell bent on the idea that adding more power and speed is the answer to everything. That's simply not true. Did adding a turbo to the 6 cause sales to skyrocket? NO! And sales of sports cars have remained low for several years. People want SUVs. That's the 1 message that every manufacturer has gotten loud and clear.
@khronin2 жыл бұрын
Just sold a stinger and folks want performance SUV and CUV--go look at any car that sits low--the front skirts are all scuffed up.I just sold a stinger and loved everything about it except sitting too low.I would have never looked at a CX-30 if it did not have a Turbo.BTW I let the tank gas tank get almost to empty and now only use premium gas and this thing is very fast.There were a lot of porsche 911 and BMW M car owners that were in my stinger club because they did not like sitting so low and also did not like the reliability and cost of a German car.I set a budget of 50k and last year when i got a new car this mazda was not out and the AMG 45 GLA were 60k and had low warranties--stinger was the fastest thing with AWD under 50k that i could get--it just sat a little low also--not as bad as a sports car--but it is a pretty low car and it even scraped on some speed bumps.Big relief to have a vehicle and not worry about skirt or undecarriage damage.

3:50 are you sure this car has 8 inches of ground clearances and 5 more inches than the Mazda3? Official website states Mazda3 has 5.5 inches. 4:12 seems like Mazda's love of skinny tires continues. A top trim, fully loaded premium compact SUV/CUV with 250hp uses 215 tires...A Corolla XSE 2.0 with 165 hp uses 225 and a civic sport with 180 hp uses 235. Same width tire as the regular non turbo Mazda3 and same wheels...and everything reminds you of a Mazda3.
