They try to give me one over my Hyundai Elantra and has a travel nurse doing covid-19 clinics I had a lot of equipment. I kept trying to tell them that the design of this vehicle would not combinate all the supplies I had. And it shows in this video. if it was a Mazda CX-5 that be different maybe they'll come up with a CX-50
@stephenhendricks103
@stephenhendricks103 3 жыл бұрын
@@gsxellence Bingo! I've owned four Mazdas over the years and I'm fond of the brand. But the problem with each of their SUV/CUVs is the cramped interior space compared to rivals in the same category. The deficiency is most obvious in the CX-9, a vehicle that's longer than a Telluride, a Palisade, and even a fraction of inch longer than a Ford Explorer and a VW Atlas with less overall cargo space than a Honda CR-V. Less extreme but still obvious is the CX-5 where cargo space sits at the bottom of the compact SUV category. In the subcompact group the CX-30 has 20 cubic ft of cargo space behind the second row and 45 cf overall, the same as the Mazda3 hatch. On the other hand, the KIA Seltos, about an inch less than the CX-30 in overall length, provides nearly 27 cf behind the rear seat and 63 cf overall, several cubic feet more than the CX-5, let alone the CX-30. Granted the CX-30 is attractive for a subcompact SUV as are the CX-5 in the compact group and CX-9 in the midsize category. But the "U" in the category name presumably stands for "utility" and none of Mazda's offerings are competitive on that score. Don't need or want competitive interior space? Then why opt for an SUV in the first place. A GTI has more cargo space and a considerably more "fun" driving experience.

I bought a CX-30 Turbo, Soul Red Crystal Metallic. You reinforced my impressions. I’m coming from an Accord Sport. I didn’t need a new car, the Accord appears to have amazing longevity, it continues looking good for years, and it can bring me smiles when it hangs on tight to a highway on-ramp. But I want the convenience of a hatchback. We do still get snow here in Virginia. I’ve replaced all four ContiSport tires as each experienced a blowout on the sidewall when hitting a pothole. I even had to replace a rim for that. Now I’m moving to another city where the roads are in even worse shape, so I appreciate the higher ride height of the CX-30 and the taller sidewalks should be more durable. I didn’t love this car until it got the turbo. Now it has the power of a hot-hatch if I want it without the nervousness, and I get to enjoy the prettiest interior this side of an Audi and an exterior that has that Jaguar-like front end along with complex curves. I this this car will still look beautiful in 10 years. So I brought one home. Thank you for the review.

I bought a 2019 Toyota Yaris, (Mazda 2, made in Mexico), in Pulse Red color. It has a similar dashboard, shifter, steering column stalks, center console knobs, side mirrors, exterior styling, (minus the plastic cladding), etc. Very pretty. Downside is no center armrest or leather wrapped steering wheel. It had only 8,050 miles and cost only $9,400 because of very minor hail damage. It doesn't really compare overall to the CX-30 but the dashboard does look very upscale to me. It has sporty wheels but the stereo could sound better. As a city car with short commutes to work and grocery stores, I love it.

Congratulations. I had CX30 premium for a week as a loaner, while my cutomized, Corksported tuned 2010 Mazda 3GT manual was being serviced. The Mazda cx30 drove like 1980's Mercedes. Solid, quiet, relaxed , with power when u need it. I would have traded my '10 mazda 3 in if the CX30 had ambient lighting in and out, overseas only power folding mirrors, most of all 8 way+ power passenger seat. The reaction of my wife when she realized the passenger seat was manual killed the Mazda CX30 sale. She sat in car, said it has more room in front than cx5 and cx9, but no power on passenger seat. Bye. End of CX30 turbo dream. Mazda , please simply switch out the manual passenger's seat for the right/left hand-drive markets, powered driver's seats. Nice if u could put the position presets on side of seats for easier switching ability.

The horror of manual passenger seat in Mazda's premium $30k vehicles. Really, with no Badge snobbery...yet, Mazda must add features, especially features they already have in their vehicle line-up. Called "trickle down" luxury features. Google; 1995-2002 Mazda Millennia luxury sedan & 929, aka: Mazda's stillborn luxury spin off brand, AMATI. Mazda knows how to mass produce a sporty Lexus. Mazda is revamping all their dealerships for the total luxury experience. Warranty coverage updates coming...I hope. Mazda put in the extra 15% to standardize all your sale markets to the Chinese markets vehicles, plus a Telluride interior sized CX9.

Savagegeese is absolutely the best for me. His thorough, detail oriented nature, and knowledgable information brings me back. Putting the car on the lift and talking about more than just the engine was refreshing and stays refreshing. Been watching this guy for about 2 years or so when i was car shopping and even though I only like older cars, I stayed for the knowledge gained. I can actually learn the differences of suspension design between manufactures for ex. and see the patterns used by each brand in their development of new models in general, not just the cool cars car guys like. The guy is a class above in everything about making a car review video. The other car reviewers sound like they dont know what they are talking about after watching this guy. The dry humour is a tasteful touch. The guy is smart.

@@funkingitup1805 Doug's enthusiasm can make him entertaining sometimes, especially when he gets his hands on something weird, but there's not much reason to watch him review something like this. $25-35k CUVs don't have interesting quirks and features; they're automotive appliances. Base model (2.5 S) doesn't have climate control, rear A/C vents, rear cupholders, and manual driver's seat adjustment. @@kevindlv I doubt my comment still applies three years later lol. In that time they dropped the 2WD model, starting MSRP has gone up like $4k. Not everyone needs the features you describe. My 2019 Miata Sport has manual seat adjustment and manual climate control, which I do not mind for how much money that saved when new. Hell my 2023 4Runner TRD Offroad Premium has a heated steering wheel… but still only has manual climate control.

The Adaptive Headlights in conjunction with auto high beams is amazing. Night driving is now lit up like Yankee stadium at all times. Should be mandatory. Would save many lives. Rides like a luxury car. At 80 MPH almost as quiet as a Lincoln Continental. Handles terrific. Plenty of leg room in the rear with the front seats set at the mid-way point. My 6' tall son got in back & his knees were 4" from front seat. Why some dummies get in the rear with the front seats all the way back is beyond me. Bose stereo sounded rich & deep. Have had my base model CX-30 for about 5 months so far. It is my first car and worth every penny. Saved me from 2 wrecks from the standard emergency automatic braking. rides like a dream. Not fast compared to sedans but compared to Kona, CHR, HRV and other crossovers it feels leagues better in terms of ride quality, comfort and performance. Plastic is the biggest problem for me but I’m thing of wrapping it with a hearty vinyl to offset the cheap factor and scratch issues. This plastic scratches way too easily and that has to be the biggest pet peeve of mine. Also rented out a 2021 CX-5 premium and didn’t like the way it drove. felt too large for me and I was always worried about the sides of the front bumper knicking other vehicles. The seats in the CX-5 were very comfortable and it had more than enough cargo space and head room. Still felt slow compared to the CX-30 and possibly not as quiet in my opinion. Either way, both are amazing cars for their price points and should be considered if budget is an issue. Base model CX-30 Rocks

I've owned and driven many vehicles. In terms of purchases, I just feel that the CX-30 is probably the most satisfying purchase that I've ever made. It is obviously not perfect and there are luxury vehicles that are better overall (for a much higher price). But, there is a value to this CX-30 where I feel that I am getting the most out of every dollar that I've spent. It drives soooo well. It oozes of a premium quality level that actually surprises you (i.e., "Wait. This is a Mazda?!?"). The combination of price, quality, drive engagement and safety is just something that I would expect at a $45K price. Yet, you can get this vehicle for less than $23K. In other words, the quality (especially with the Select trim and higher) that you're getting TWICE the car and features for what you're actually paying for. It's not for everyone. It is a subcompact crossover. Yet, apart from size, I don't know anyone who would be disappointed by it. For the class, it is the best value by a wide margin.

I've driven the regular 2.0 Mazda 3 once, and honestly, I specifically remember thinking "how is this 4-cylinder so smooth?". I've always respected Mazda for what they've created, but since the ND Miata I've pretty much been a fanboy. They're safe, reliable, they're relatively fun to drive (more fun than capable), and the quality (not only the interior) is spot on. And lets of course not forget the design, because they are amazing to look at inside and out. I'm really curious to see how the next 6 and CX5 turn out with the now more than rumoured 6-cylinder engines.

"...I'd rather be in this than my own cars..." I guess that really sums up what a solid vehicle it is. In every video I've seen the engine sounds wonderful and responsive. Handling is always portrayed as being sportier than average, with a nice overall ride quality. Who can argue with that and 200+ horsepower? I've got a Ford with a 2.0L Ecoboost on order, but with Ford's continuing quality issues I'm thinking opting for the Mazda would be a far better bet, especially since the Mazda has a much nicer interior and more content at nearly the same price.

You'd be surprised how many people have two Mazdas - an MX5 and a quiet daily driver. Let's face it, you don't see nearly as many WRX Subarus as you do Crossteks or Imprezas. Mazda makes what people want. Their CX5 far outsells everything else in their lineup. This CX30 is great for a small, younger family or an older couple who use the back seat for temporarily storing things to transport. Lastly, Consumer Reports once again placed Mazda in the top three most reliable manufacturers. The latest ratings are: 1. Lexus 2. Mazda 3. Toyota Earlier this year, Mazda placed first in overall ranking (performance/quality/reliability) That says alot about this very small car company.

Auto journalists drive a LOT of different vehicles in quick succession, and there is always something new, and all that. That's certainly different than a typical owner's experience. This car would be plenty entertaining if you weren't constantly comparing it to some of the best driver's cars in the world. And it's incredibly good at everything else. I'd actually buy one of these, as a regular guy on a regular income, and be happy to have it. For about the price of an equivalent German car, say a BMW X3, you can have this AND a used ND Miata. If you care about your money, that's hard to beat.

I've driven both. CX-30 cabin feels more isolated from wind noise, both are similar for road noise. CX-5 feels a touch louder, but it's splitting hairs. The bigger difference is in the interior design language - where the CX-5 is very obviously dated. Last generation switchgear mixed with new infotainment technology. CX-30 is a nicer space to be. The CX-50 is more equivalent to the CX-5 in terms of size, and I really like that product more than the CX-5 for the same reasons I like the CX-30. Also side note - CX-5 Turbo does not have the fake engine noise

It's basically a 4 door sports car (Not performance car) and with SUVs becoming the new default economy car, I really see how the people wanting a sporty hatch aren't looking at Mazda anymore. I wish they had the mx5 identity for the cars, and the luxury identity for the SUVs because that's how buyers are behaving anyway. They're not going to sell more hatchback if they cater to people who want SUVs, and they're losing their hatchback customers too.

Honestly you hit the nail on the head with the "your expectations are based on the car's category, not the car". You really do have a tall hatchback here but absolutely no one cares if its sporty. Look at dodge and the trouble they had to go through with marketing to make the durango appear as a muscle car and not just another family hauler. Hell look at pickups, most people still have issue with the fact midsize and halfton trucks are used as family vehicles with working capability rather than work tools now. Marketing and market expectations really do make or break a vehicle.

Everyone gets them in red, or in some dark color, trying to blend plastic cladding with body color. But in fact, this car looks the best in white, unexpectedly. In my subjective opinion, the white CX-30 is one of the best-looking cars on the road. Not just crossovers, but all of them. It is amazing how they conceived it in this age of super-ugly cars. The interior styling could have been a bit cleaner (the top of the dash is rather overloaded with layers of that leather), but the exterior is practically flawless!
