Good video, but you have the functions of upper and lower lats the wrong way round. Lower lat fibers are almost completely vertical and thus align perfectly with your elbow path during shoulder extension, e. g. straight arm pulldown, close grip lat pulldown (keeping your elbows strictly in front of your body, not letting them flare out and pulling in a frontal arcing motion). Upper lat fibers are almost completely horizontal and thus align perfectly with your elbow path during shoulder adduction, e. g. wide grip pulldowns (starting with elbows away to the side of your body and pulling them towards your body).

I dont approve of differenciating rear delt and mid traps. For me its not functional, meaning its goes againts the natural way our body move, both are supposed to work together! Imo you should just do horizontal pull and it both work the trap and the rear delts since the trap does the scapula relative to the rib cage movement and the rear delt does the humerus relative to the scapula movement, both combined to do the entire movement of the humerus relative to the rib cage. You already have the mid traps working without the rear delt on bent over work if you are parallel to the floor and the rear delt working without the traps on external rotation work anyway.
@chilldoc9638
@chilldoc9638 4 ай бұрын
The reason to differentiate them is to be able to identify rear delt isolation exercises, and because it is part of the shoulder, not the back

I'd say another big thing on the lat pull down is really controlling the eccentric, personally I feel my back more when I let my arms go up as much as they can with the bar. I had to humble myself and decrease the weight but oh man did that make a difference for me!
