Literally nobody is. This will be yet another box office disaster and everyone knows it. Hollywood is out of ideas and can only do half-assed reboots of things that were great twenty years ago entirely because they were well-executed ORIGINAL IDEAS. Now we're getting the discount Wish versions because nobody knows how to come up with anything original anymore, and even the production values are somehow plummeting. What a sad situation.

Then an alien will burst out of them and each crew member will get picked off one by one with one surviving at the end (probably a woman)and some kind of cliff hanger where the alien is actually still alive

the real problem with prometheus and covenant is that the movies (especially Covenant) didn't make much sense because there was too much conflict of interest when it came to what would ultimately make it into the final cut. Scripts were changed, scenes were deleted, and all of it made the story more confusing by basically gutting the big ideas and plot points. I mean the whole story with the black goo and the origin of the alien and the engineers wasn't supposed to be such a mess but they had scrapped their original story for these things without much of a new story to fill in the gap and so it was just a weird blend of different creative input, like the shell of a good story but with loose ends and discrepancies within the details. I hope this movie can bring back some hype about this series because I thought prometheus and covenant had so much potential that went to waste
@maylene4212 ай бұрын
I don’t think that was actually the case with Prometheus. If you think about it, alien 1-4 is essentially the same movie, as to what the actual plot is. Prometheus felt much more fresh and had something new to offer, they could have expanded the lore in so many different ways. Instead we got covenant, which was such a mess, just all over the place trying to please everyone and mostly trying to be an -alien- movie and crow pleaser 😢… such a wasted opportunity. This one tbh looks super generic, but lets hope that’s not the case
@Fatpie422 ай бұрын
I don't think there was as much question over what to leave in Prometheus as you make out. Ridley Scott is well known for re-cutting his movies. Just look at Blade Runner, Kingdom of Heaven and even Alien! The thing is I loved the Engineers, but the studio told him that fans didn't want that, so in Covenant he kills the engineers off. I was so disappointed because he'd set up this exciting new element and then immediately removed it.
@VoicesBeyondPages2 ай бұрын
Covenant's main issue was trying to appeal to more traditional Alien fans while trying to be a sequel to Prometheus. Prometheus does a really good job at standing on its own and not trying to be just another Alien film - to the point that the "aliens" are in fact progenitor humans... that's truly terrifying. And I like it for that reason. Covenant's most interesting components are from Prometheus, and as a result, the way that it tries to be a traditional Alien film don't really mesh well - and while I love Michael Fassbender (he is an AMAZING actor), I don't think David was strong enough as a villain in Covenant to carry the film on his own basically.
@RobAngol2 ай бұрын

I really liked the lore aspect of Prometheus. It was the 1 dimensional characters and the plot that really let it down. I wanted to know more about the engineers and why they wanted to create this other version of themselves (us humans) and then wipe us out. But, we didn't get to because all of that was discarded in the making of Covenant. The engineers called their home world paradise. I wanted to know what that meant and how they were living to make it so. Maybe then David could have gone completely rogue and do something drastic but wiping them out straight away ruined the set up at the end of Prometheus. The questions about where we come from has not been explored that much in movies. We don't know how life came to be on earth, whether it evolved here or was seeded by a comet. Exploring this in a movie was super exciting as it probes our existential longing for answers about our own existence and purpose.

it's been 45 years since Alien (1979) found it's way into our imaginations, and fans of that film have been begging for a proper sequel ever since. Aliens (1986) was a great follow up, but it was a different kind of movie and didn't do much to scratch the pure horror itch that many of us had after the first movie. Every other entry after that has been part of a downward spiral, and the modern "Prometheus" era films (while also quite good) might as well be a different franchise as the only connections to the original story are loose or shoehorned in at best. The hype is so real with this trailer, and I really hope it lives up to what it is promising here. Fans have been waiting patiently for so long. We have been loyal. We have never stopped supporting everyone involved, even through the garbage, which is sadly quite a rare level of loyalty among fans of other sci-fi franchises. The formula is right there in the first film... That formula was proven to be effective again, even with modern audiences, with the success of the game "Alien: Isolation". just follow that, throw some real passion behind the work, and I really don't see how it could fail!

The Alien franchise has never been as good as it was in the first two (and I'd add the third because I liked it) movies. All the others were sub-par. The franchise needs to embrace the horror and colonial (marines/war) aspect.
@SpecialOrder9352 ай бұрын
YO some Alien3 love 👍
@DemonKnight852 ай бұрын
While I mostly agree with your statement, I don't think it was the marine/colonial aspect that makes those earlier movies good. I mean it's something unique and definitely made the 2nd good, but there is more at play as to why those first 3 films were good (and I mean the director's cut of Alien 3 btw). The alien creature was respected more, and the movies embraced the horror a lot more on top of being pretty bleak movies. I think that was actually the key. They should be bleak movies, and if anything Aliens 2, got away with not doing that. These movies are at their best when the situation feels a little hopeless. That's when the creature is at it's scariest.
@danielwickman752 ай бұрын
The thing about the 3rd though is that end chase scene when the prisoners are luring the alien by having it chase them and closing the big doors behind it……they used cgi for the alien and it looks horrific now!! Ripley (not the clone), played by Sigourney Weaver, was the reason the originals worked (and why all the rest were bloody awful). I look forward to Romulus, hoping it will continue to build the lore. I was saddened by how Covenant had abandoned Ridley Scott‘s original plan to explore the Engineers and the beginning of life. Scott stated that he had grown bored with the creature and therefore delved into the story of the derelict pilot everybody else had "missed". Prometheus then did half a billion at the box office and the sequel was greenlit. Internet complaints concerning the absence of said creature may have caused Scott to drop the Paradise Lost story and kill Shaw. Covenant made only half of what Prometheus did, with yet another alien outbreak.

Alien isolation for the ps4 was a very good underrated game, it also took place between alien and aliens. You play as ripleys daughter is it possiable the lead role is amanda ripley? Its interesting to see if they can still keep things fresh and scary in this long running franchise. I thought the new evil dead films were pretty good. If its any like the evil dead movies or the alien isolation game i think it will do good. dead

I truly truly HOPE that this movie will convey the atmosphere of the ORIGINAL movie "Alien" (1979) and NOT any of the sequels. I want something that portrays the Alien as and incredibly creepy and horrifying monster of the dark, just like the first movie or "Alien Isolation" did, and NOT some all-out action shooter movie..
@kiesbett2 ай бұрын
are there aliens escaping from a laboratory? wow, that seems to be a whole new story, i did not expect this! alien hiding in space ship, eating one after another of the crew members? holy shit, i have never seen something like this. maybe adding a strong female character killing all those beasts could make the story even more horrifying? no, seriously, the first two alien movies: great stuff. the rest...i do not think so. they missed the chance to make the alien saga a coherent story, like they do now with dune. like that every movie seems to me a different universe for itself, repeating however more or less the same story. but i am going to watch in anyway....

completely disagree with everyone on Prometheus and Covenant. Those movies were great in their own ways, the opening of covenant is brilliant, setting the plot for David and Prometheus was great for the engineer lore and giving us just enough to ask questions. The Aliens story needed those movies to give new life to the overall story. Fincher's Alien3 was not bad but felt unnecessary, and Alien resurrection was pure garbage. aliens is doing fine and my only worry with romulus is whether or not it tells a good story, the aliens and the facehuggers are not new.
@SpecialOrder9352 ай бұрын
Prometheus was ok but it went nowhere, Covenant was just a movie full of tropes , 0 suspense, lack luster creature design, 3 good characters, David became a straight up Bond villain Oh and the Engineers where inconsequential , the Great Creators of our species where 100% useless to the story Oh and a android “created the Alien” 😂 trash
@AS-rr9km2 ай бұрын
@@SpecialOrder935Lots of Easter eggs in those movies, it’s cool to connect them. For people who watched them all as a kid like I did, it at least brought interest back into a continuation of the franchise for the masses. It was probably a way to…make money for the official new stories they wanted to make later 😂Who knows? They can CGI these movies in 6 months nowadays. At least we are getting some quality with these, mostly.

Let's hope it isn't just a fake reboot just like what happened to Star Wars with The Force Awakens. Anyway, I liked Prometheus and Covenant. Problem is Scott switched the cosmic horror with the AI treath. Perhaps the mysterious origins of the xenomorph infestation should have been left uncharted. But in the end, the Engineers mythology is pretty fascinating. Also, there's still room to explain the link between the Deacon and the Engineers, and why they worship it as a god. Is there something far more sinister on the void between the stars?
