Mr. Johnson is brilliant. I don't understand why the interviewer could not grasp that controlling others is not needed for alignment. This guy has fascism on the brain. There will be incentives to participating but it will always be up to the individual to decide for themselves.

What's good about this interview - Bryan's enotional intelligence, patience and likeability are showing through. Being interrupted all the way and letting the interrupting person going on with such grace, never showing displeasure.

Not only allowing a change in topic, but providing new information based on what's said. That's what a true listener does in a conversation and you rarely see it in person, sadly. I respect Bryan a lot for this trait. Conversations are supposed to branch off, not overlap each other.

My grandma's sister in East Africa lived to a healthy 120....she kept peace with everyone and always laughed...her only surviving sister is 103 years old. She still walked,had all her teeth and sharp mental health by the time she passed. 2 weeks before she died she called her sister and told her she was about to leave and she didn't want her to cry. They reminisced about their childhood and lives and one morning 2 weeks later she didn't wake up from her sleep.

@1:23:04 Tom interrupted Bryan for the millionth time and Bryan had to say “I need to get to the punch line” and that was the first time he spoke for a long time. This podcast was really frustrating because Tom kept interrupting and displaying the knowledge he knows or what he thinks when we are here to learn from Bryan, not learn what Tom knows! (This is meant to be a constructive criticism for future videos. Please Be mindful when you are asking the questions. Wait for your guests to finish their sentences. Also, make sure if your questions are leading the interview or you are asking the questions to show what you know. If you want to go the other route, you can make documentaries instead of interviews)

This is the third interview of Bryan Johnson that I see. I have noticed that he seems to be after something that is far beyond the staying young just because it's cool. He goes into trying to explain his philosophy of why he does what he does, but the interviewers bring him back to the very shallow aspects of his project.

Hey Tom genuine feedback, you need to let your guests speak longer. 1:23:10 is a good example of this, you can see his frustration from the consistent interruptions and tangents the conversation takes. This is new as your old interviews used to be quality. In any case thoroughly enjoyed this episode 👌🏽

My father died when he was 98, never sick until the end, never played sports, just walking every day, and eating a Mediterranean diet, wine and beer occasionally.

My grandfather use to walk too. His diet was white meat mostly. He never smoked and he would have occasionally a drink. He died when he was 96.

My grandma lived to a 100. She never kept any particular diet in her life, she ate what she enjoyed, often looked for things on sale even if it wasn't the best food (she lived through both World Wars so learned to be very thrifty and couldn't unlearn being very frugal, she always kept saving what she could from her retirement money and then would give away money saved to her kids and grandkids). She loved to walk and walked every day, she was very active, we often laughed she was the least lazy out of us all, even in her 90s when we needed something from the store she was always the first one ready to get up and make the run no matter how far (in Europe you walk to stores). She had a hard life, raising 3 kids by herself (her husband died early). It wasn't the diet that gave her a long life, it was probably her attitude. My mom often tried to change her ways and convince her to buy better food because my mom was into healthy eating and wanted my grandma to eat better but my grandma was stubborn and always felt she knew what was best for her and stuck to her ways. Occasionally when she was convinced by my mom to eat something my mom suggested ( some 'health food') she would then complain that that particular food didn't make her feel good, and that she feels better eating whatever she always has. My mom who was very strict with her diet and always watched what she ate passed away at 70, just 2 years after my grandma passed away. I think the difference between my grandma and mom was in their mental state, my grandma was at peace and was able to shake off any stress very quickly. My mom on the other hand had that worry personality, she stressed easily and internalized a lot of negative emotions and stress. I used to be very strict with my diet when younger too, it was my passion to eat healthy and live healthy. While I still try to eat healthy I no longer obsess about it and I am much more relaxed about what I eat. I now believe that a strict diet is not the most important piece to a long and healthy life. Also, watching videos on centenarians confirms this, none of them have been strict with their diet, all ate something that would be considered bad (some drank a lot of coffee, many drank some alcohol, some drank milk or ice cream every day etc) but all had one thing in common and that is having a sense of purpose in life, a strong will to live and feeling positive about life, being active, and never letting stress get them for too long, being able to let go and stay peaceful.

That's amazing about your grandma. Statistically, I believe only 0.03% live to be over 100. I guess age scientists are attempting to determine how to increase that percentage.

And genetics and luck. Low levels of inflammation seem to be a common denominator in centenarians, so some sort of genetic predisposition to low inflammation is probably going on here.

For some with negative comments on how he looks I guess perhaps how we judge/perceive him based on looks is subjective. Tom says the camera doesn’t justify how good he looks in person. His testament of willing to embark such protocol is a takeaway that Bryan’s been doing something breakthrough here. Second, also based from Bryan’s other podcast he looks perfectly fit and have toned muscles. I would definitely want the same health and fitness results for myself!

Especially, because this guy has SO much to teach us; his thinking is way beyond 99.999% of the people on this earth, a visionary- whether we agree with him or not. 24:22 the laugh didn't meet his eyes. I believe this is bigger than him, I have an uncomfortable feeling that it's to support agendas. E.g. all the recent political talk about SHIELDING THE EARTH FROM THE SUN. Why does nobody know about this? Crazy. He takes about 100+ supplements a day. Seems geared to make us dependent on a system. Sunbathing isn't good for people, but having 0 sun *screams* agenda to me. Knowing the vitamin D crisis and it's significance in many many many diseases.

I’ve been low fodmap and vegan for years. I still have included some self destructive behaviours like sugar, cookies, chips etc regularly. But I want to be more like Bryan in my eating style!

I had the worst PTSD episode I had ever had a while back. *side note which is interesting per Bryan also being an ex-Mormon: the PTSD was from my childhood trauma from being raised in the LDS church and ensuring SA from my chilhood bishop during "worthiness interviews". I, like Bryan, found my way out of that toxic cult! *The PTDS episode was so intense that I completely lost my appetite. *side note: I found an amazing PTSD therapy who used A.R.T. (Accelerated Resolution Therapy) and I finally resolved the PTSD that had been plaguing me for years. * through losing my appetite, I began eating only healthy foods. *the sugar detox i went through was uber intense. I got very sick as all the gnarly gut bacteria that had me addicted to sugar died off and made me very sick. After this sugar detox, I began feeling so good that even the thought of eating sugar is nauseating! *I then stated eating oy healthy foods. It's fascinating that through my research I have come up with some of the dame protocols that Bryan has come up with. *I now get 8 hours of sleep consistently! I used to only get 5-ish hours of sleep. I can attest to this wisdom of getting good sleep that Bryan is sharing has changed my life right along with eating healthy food! * I have come to the conclusion that sugar is a poison. *Do yourself a huge favor and just quit sugar. Period! The cravings have completely gone and the thought of eating a bowl of ice cream makes me think, yuck! If you don't have that reaction to consuming processed sugar, you are likely addicted to this potent poison. *I do not have the monetary funds to do what Bryan has done. HOWEVER, I have been able to buy healthy organic food and eat only healthy food! *eating healthy food has given me the gift being free feom brainfog, zero cravings for the toxic poison of refined sugar and processed packaged food. *I didn't have enough energy to commit to exercising. The sugar detox gave me the energy to start exercising. I'm 62 years old. I got myself a mini trampoline. I now jump on the trampoline for 30minutes daily with wrist weights. I had lost a lot of my muscle mass and the trampoline and wrist weights have restored my muscle mass. *If are struggling with feeling like crap and addicted to sugar, you can really do this. *Start with detoxing from ALL refined sugar. I had a fatty liver diagnosis. Sugar is killing us. Quit sugar! I needed the help from a PTSD therapist because of all the trauma I experienced in the Mormon Church! And that trauma PTSD ruled my life for way too long. *However, I had a deep desire to feel whole and happy and healthy. I have achieved it and so can you. Bryan, thank you for all that yoy are doing to help promote healthy lifestyles for all of us who find your work!

This guy sound legit. Now I have a similar story but without the ptsd. My grandfather was playing with these ideas back in 1970 and people thought he was crazy. My mom blessed me with all of these stories and now i can see what he was talking about. I was born and raised in mexico. And the culture of “pair your tacos with a coca-cola” makes me sad. My grandmama died because she couldn’t never put the coca-cola glass down. While my other grandma stopped taking insulin and now controls her insulin and lives a pretty happy life. Perspective saves people lifes. Bryan if you get to see this. I am willing to take this to mexico. Not just translate but apply this blessing knowledge to a culture that has been forced feed baad food❤

I’ve had fibromyalgia for the last 20 years, and depended on medication to sleep but I stopped taking sleeping pills and walk or do some form of exercise daily. Cutting out sugar and processed foods. I feel much better.

I also have this and once I went carnivore and cut out all sugar and cabs .. I haven’t had any pain in over a year, I’m working again and riding my motorcycle again…I suffered for 15 years every day.. I also added raw A2 milk and it takes all inflammation out of the joints❤ it’s the best thing I’ve ever discovered…I know it’s not for everyone’s lifestyle but it definitely won’t hurt to give it a try

When they study centenarians in the blue zone, most people ate a lot of organic, home grown vegetables/legumes/ fruit/ leafy greens and were regularly physically active through walking and gardening. But the most profound commonality was they had a strong connection with their community and the elderly. Nobody was excluded or left out to feel lonely. Sometimes we get lost with the goal of trying to live as long as possible and forget to actually enjoy the journey of life which is only meant to be for a certain time so we appreciate the important things. I can't imagine foregoing family celebrations and meals that connect us and bring us so much joy and happy memories.And staying out of the sun and not enjoy the inspiring presence of nature.

Correlation is not causation just because they were forced to be around people that they hated in order to survive in communities doesn’t mean that it prolonged their life or that it didn’t actually lower their total life expectancy. Let’s not pretend like going to family celebrations is a fun and positive time the majority of it is very high stress and let’s not pretend like socializing is not 90% stressful. Avoiding socializing, and being grateful for having the ability to avoid it will drastically increase your lifespan because it will reduce your basal stress levels. The number one cause of the majority of peoples stress comes from socializing and from having other people in their life for every one good interaction, there are like nine other in interactions that are extremely stressful. Only people you should be socializing with are your pets and that’s about it. Everybody else is just full of crap and most likely going to cause you stress either through their incompetence or through nefarious reasons. Also, there is no such thing as a community unless you somehow win the lottery and you found everybody in your life to be just so amazing and helpful and never screw you over which is probably a one in 1 million chance of happening. The reality is that the majority of people in the so-called community are just trying to benefit themselves and couldn’t give a crap about you and if you say otherwise, then you either won the lottery or you have not grown up yet. Either way I don’t like gambling.

@@ZxAMobilewow. You are so insightful and positive! But for real… I really don’t like my family. Total narcissistic parents. Terrible parents. Not directly abusing but a ton of neglect both physical and mental/emotional. I had a bmi of 13 and would dip into the 11s when I got really sick which was at least a few times a year. Back in the 90s. Shocked docs didn’t take action or at least start a conversation with me about it. You’re right about your assessment but at the same time can find great people. Please keep trying. They’re out there. Join groups that are doing good in your area and just do some good with them. You’ll meet the right people if you’re one of the good ones. Animals are 100x better than humans in general for sure. Got my first dog a year ago and he’s changed me for sure. Snuggle all the time and he’s always up for whatever. Border collie. We don’t choose our family, but we can make our own and be the parents we never had that we wish we did… 🍻

If youread the original blue zone studies it's not like that tbh. Sardonian people ate mostly goats and dairy. The Medi diet was mostly goat + goat dairy until about the 1960s Okinawans ate mostly pork - 65% of their diet was pork. Save for around 1943 to 1947 because they were bombed out from World-War-Two. They ate more veggies then but had gone to 60% pork by the 1960s.

I had skin like that too when I was young - until about 27-28. My skin actually glowed in the dark! Turned out I have pernicious anemia. I'm on daily shots of B12 and now my skin has some color. I actually look alive now.

Well, to be honest, I never comment seriously on anything. But Seriously, there is something about this guy looking like someone from 200 years into the future. It's just the whole thing. His articulation, the way he does everything in such a calm way. It seems like he has somehow managed to annihilate all the primal instincts, needs and replace them with a totally different set of things that are much more important and powerful. I would compare it to an 90 year old totally understanding a teenage kid in todays time, which is allmost impossible. But this to me looks like someone who hauntingly has figured a way to travel back from the future to give us a glimpse on how people look 200 years from now.

The fact is that whether we want to recognize it or not, our survival is always at risk. I found that following a system is relatively easy when you realize this. Every decision I now make on a daily basis (Relationships, food, work, exercise, sleep, preventative/diagnostic testing, etc) is with the sole purpose of optimizing my health and increase my chances of survival. The strong motivation allows to easily eliminate anything that conflicts with the objective of attaining optimal physical and mental health. I agree with Bryan , I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything, in fact, I have never felt more balanced and focused.

To people who say that he looks sick, he is protecting his skin from the sun and it has taken on a translucent quality like old school Korean women who view freckles as something unattractive and to be avoided. In our culture, a lot of people are all about tanning, Hell my own sister looks like a real-life Brownie from mythology - a walking brown raisin. I don't tan but I don't avoid the sun either and I do a lot of gardening, I have noticed as I have gotten older having a lot of spots on my skin. So I would not say that he looks sick but rather that his skin looks undamaged.

He does! He does! A Lord of the Rings elf, indeed. Great description. As I grow older, my health is becoming more important to me. I have eliminated all sugar, and all processed foods, from my diet. I make everything from scratch, and it is actually very easy. I stopped drinking alcohol a little over a year ago. That was my last source of sugar and empty calories. In fact, I lost a notch in my belt within a couple of weeks. I am in my late 60s and my body is back to where it was in my 20s. I expect that my caloric intake is probably less than 2,000 per day. I eat two meals a day and one "snack" consisting of either nuts or olives, and sometimes cheese. One thing I notice is that I never feel hungry or unfulfilled after eating. My blood pressure is down to normal, my joints are pain free and my stools are good. My mind is also very clear. The change has been dramatic.

My grandfather was 104 when he died a few years ago. He was a farmer in a rural area in Bangladesh and worked hard all his life. One thing I heard from my father, that stays with me today is that he was always an early riser and slept early every day. He didn't have a significant health issue. As a fitness coach, I now see those who are sleeping well at night have fewer health issues because they have better bodies.

This interview makes me uncomfortable. On one hand, Bryan is a very fascinating person. and it is good to bring awareness of healthier ways of living. . On the other hand... I used to experience extreme OCD related to health, and Orthorexia. I became addicted to the feeling of superiority of "being the healthiest person". If I had the money. resources and yes men that Ryan has, I would have most likely done a very similar thing to him, in the name of "science". Deep down I had to confront my fears of aging, death and that I was no more special than anyone else. Three things Ryan seems to miss in his health journey are his relationships, happiness and community. Also, it's good that he wants to promote an alignment between society and health.... but I don't see much evidence of that? As he said, he lives an unsustainable lifestyle. From his discussion, it seems as though he is not promoting betterment of health for all, just for a unique few with a similar lifestyle to him.

Yes, I agree. Especially when he said he’s 3% body fat and believes that to be healthy?? That’s just bulimia, or severe body dysmorphia… I think he has serious self loathing for his own thoughts and happiness. He doesn’t add sauce to his food, he doesn’t like to have a “broken brain” which tells him to have fun, and wants a robot to think for him… He talks about fixing mental health issues like depression and whatever else, but he thinks a robot system should do this for us rather than something human like positivity or meditation. He’s strange

I really admire Bryan's dedication to researching the topic of living forever with his own body as the testing mechanism. I am curious to know if he's compared his genome to others. I feel that in order to expand this lifestyle to the world, similar to clinical trials, we need to see data on how different people react to similar circumstances. The data might also help in understanding how CRISPR technology might improve patient outcomes. Just to mention, regarding iodine, when someone doesn't eat enough salted, prepared foods, you need to supplement with iodine because of the general lack of sodium with iodine in the diet. I had the same deficiency when I removed ALL processed food from my diet years ago. I have to add sodium and iodine purposefully to keep labs in the proper range.
