Dr Mindy, you have no idea how timely this video is for me. About 2 weeks ago i had a CT scan of my lungs, it also found "Moderate coronary arterial calcification"!!! My guess was the next was severe calculation but in a panic mode, I was hoping I was not one step away. I went to my primary care doctor today and he confirmed the next step was severe. I asked what I should be eating. He said it was controversial. Basically, he had no answer. I told him I read about the Mediterranean Diet and that it could reduce the size, nowhere in that article did it mention high fat nuts and what it could do. I felt even more defeated. I hate to sound paranoid but there is big money to be lost if we could actually fix or stay healthy by eating the correct foods. Now, I have my answer -- thank you with all my heart. I am going to Stanford Cardiology in October because my former cardiologist in Sacramento never gave me options to treat my AFib. He scared me to death and said I will be on blood thinners the rest of my life. I have self correcting AFib so there are different options. Thank you for giving me hope again.

@@deborahd4310 the Mediterranean diet is a myth invented by Americans. I hope you are taking vitamin D and K2 separately in the right doses. My left coronary calcification reduced from 50% to 20% in 8 months . I was on a Keto diet now moved to Carnivore. No more oxalates, antinutrients and pesticides (natural and man made).

Well, I didn't realize there is a difference between plaque and calcification. I have no idea if diet can even touch calcification by at least reducing the size. Diet will help on some level but I fear once it has calcified it's there to stay. Honestly, I hope my conclusion is incorrect. I don't see a cardiologist till October...

Dr. Mindy, thank you for your wonderful teachings. I have gained hormonal weight due to menopause. I have lost weight with intermittent fasting, but for some reason I can't lose the weight in my shoulders, breasts and upper stomach area. Actually my shoulders have become broader. I excercise, do Keto & IF but nothing seems to help loosing weight in these areas. Any suggestions? Thank you

I watch many of your vids and they are informative and the info is trusted. The use of the term “grass fed” eludes me however. As a teen, my family bought and ran a dairy farm. All cattle eat grass as their major food source. It is usual for farmers or producers to feed grains in order to improve meat quality and milk quantity. ALL cattle eat grass as their food supply! The next issue has to do with knowing whether meat or dairy suppliers exclude feeding grains-highly unlikely and likely not confirmed by an independent review. So, except for the implied health benefit and the profit derived representation, why use “grass fed” at all?

I was told recently that keto has messed up my galbladder because of keto. My galbladder is low functioning amd the doc wanted to remove it. I was like ummm no!! The issues I was having was before keto and it had reduced soooo much since going keto. He was so upset at me that I didnt go through with the surgery. He treated me extremely rude when I asked him a ton of questions and his answer before he left was "you'll be back." What a jerk. I havent had the crummy feeling of galbladder pain in quite some time when I stick to my guns on keto.

Hello Dr. Mindy, I've been doing IF for a year and just got your book "Fast Like a Girl". I went to the doctor yesterday and got my bloodwork done, and my LDL cholesterol came back at 123 (23 points above normal range) and my doctor said I need to eat better and exercise, but I've been doing that for a year and have successfully lost 30 pounds!!! I'm scared my cholesterol will be higher when I'm scheduled to see my Dr. again in 3 months if I keep IF. Anyone else struggling with this?

You talk about dairy as a good source of nutrition. I recently heard a functional medicine Doc say because of the high caesins In dairy it is inflammatory. Thoughts?

I’ve read that too about casein. I was dairy free for a year and felt like a million bucks. No brain fog or fatigue, no pain, 20 lbs lighter. I think there are specific sources of dairy that are beneficial in spite of the casein? But yeah I only eat fermented dairy now but still don’t feel as great as I did being completely dairy free.

There is a difference between A1 caseïne (usually cow milk proteine) and A2 caseïne (usually goat, sheep and or horse milk) A2 caseïne will be digested in the human body differently then A1 caseïne. For example: I have hashimoto's disease. A1 caseïne will trigger my auto immune disease and will cause me new anti bodies against my thyroid. While I can use goat milk safely without any problems. ( I do ferment the milk for extra pro biotics though, and no lactose left in the milk so no rolling over the floor with gassy pains)

I didn’t think plaquing was due to the actual processed food being stored in the arteries. From what I understand, the plaque is your body’s repair mechanism when inflammation happens due to the chemicals and sugar.
