I have one of your Kegerators and I was wondering if I change the taps to these can I use a shorter line instead of having to have 2 metres or so of line that takes up so much space and is a real pain

Yes you can use shorter beer line if you choose to use the Nukatap FC taps.

No, the good thing about this new design is you can use any standard shank. As the tap spring is held captive within the tap body it doesn't rely on the cavity in the shank to accommodate the spring and can therefore be used with any shank you like.

The shanks I have are angled from the sealing face to the ID...it looks like a cone/funnel, not a cup like intertap shanks. With the intertap FC, 'wide open' actually chokes flow because the shuttle presses into the cone of the shank. Will I have that problem with these too? Do I need intertap, cup style shanks?

No. These work in a completely different way. These move the outter sleeve back and forth (the female piece). These are really a better design than the older intertap FC.

Just received 2 of these. Without the oring between the shank and tap. They do not seal. To confirm this was the issue, I pulled the oring from my standard Nukatap and they seal fine with the additional flow control parts. Think you need more engineering work. Also even with 10' of beer line. They create extreme amounts of foam in any position except full open. Since the seller cant be reached, I will ve returning both tomorrow for the standard type.

Hello Jim. This tap has been designed to seal with the tap shank directly onto the hard POK plastic flow restrictor device. The o-ring is not really a good idea. If you do the colllet up tight it should seal. As it's a hard plastic the shank face needs to be in good condition to seal against the hard plastic. Sometimes if the shank has been thrown around against other metal parts the face can get a little dent. If this is the case the shank needs to be replaced. The reason we use the hard plastic seal is because it's necessary for this design to work as it means we have tight tolerance with the flow restrictor device and the tap body. If we use a soft o-ring we cannot account for the "squish" in the o-ring.

I think Jim is referring to the seal which is sitting in a recess on the shank under the collar. Without this, they do not seal. KL22859 (Ball Lock Disconnect with Integrated Tap Shank and Collar) has it, KL03247 (Stainless MFL Tap Shank Adaptor) has it - they seal just fine. My two KL11945 (Nukatap stainless long shank) came without this seal - shurely enough they leak. Swapt the seals over from KL22859 & KL03247 and violà! they don't leak anymore!

Hello I have Just purchased one of these taps but have yet to fit it. I also have 2 Intertap faucets. Could you please tell me, are the new bushings compatible with the intertap faucets ? The reason I ask, I have never been able to get the spring back function to perform properly - too slack and they leek - too tight and they wont spring back. Am I doing something wrong? as other people don't seem to have this problem. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks Geoff. UK.

After watching this nice adverstising here, I bought a Nukatap Set-up for my mini keg (Nukatap direktly on tank shank adapter, connected diretky to the Disconnect on the keg). Now I have a lot of problems to tap my beer, only foams comes out of the tap. Even at nearly closed FC. Some homebrewers, using the nukatap, advice to go for a pressure of 3-4 PSI. Now this is not what I want. my beer is carbonised at "normal" pressure at "normal dringin temperatur", so let's say 15 - 20 PSI. (1-1,5 bar). I hope Kegland reads my comment and can tell me for what pressure the tap is designed for?

If you are using good quality taps that are correctly assembled then 90% of the time it's an issue with the temperature. To pour a beer with little foam you should aim for beer temp of 2-3C. Can you pour a beer into the glass then put a thermometer into the beer and check the temperature. I would be guessing your beer is not in this temperature range.

@@KegLand Hi Kegland, thank you for your answer. Surely I am not pouring beer at this low temperature. I want to drink it, not freeze my mouth. And I like to taste the flavors in my beer. Anyway, my temperature in the Keg is close to 6 °C. Even too low for drinking, but is will slightly get warmer once in my glass. With you answer you say indirectly that I need lower pressure. With "old fashioned" tap I really have no problem with foam. In my opinion this is a problem of the small design. I really like your products but I am disappointed from this Nukatap.

@@michaelweel2920 Hello Michael. We rate all our commercial taps with a spout that is 10mm ID and to fill this spout correctly the beer should be flowing at about 300-450ml per 10sec. You simply will get a lot of foam if you are going to serve beer at above 4C. If you like to drink beer at 6C you will find if you use a warm glass your 3C beer will end up being 6C in about 20-60 seconds anyway. In addition to this your beer will store better and stay fresher for longer if you store at a lower temperature. So storing your beer colder will simply improve the quality of your beer and extend the shelf life. You can easily use this tap with 15-20psi and in this instance we would recommend also using about 1-1.5meters of 4mm ID beer line. This way your line will take up half your pressure and the other half would be adjustable with the flow control device.

Just placed my new tap on my keg and it will not seal. It is leaking through the holes on the collar that screws the tap and shank together. I have removed and retughtened several times. Any advise?

It's most likely that your shank as a small dent in the face where it seals. It can be solved by using an o-ring and out customer service guys can send one out to you. With that said if the shank face is machined well and it is free of dents then this seal is not generally necessary and the hard plastic will seal directly onto the shank.

You can put in an o-ring but it really should not be necessary and as long as the face of the tap shank is smooth it should seal. Many retailers have shank stacked naked in a bin and if they knock against each other the face of the shank can get a small ding and cause it to leak. Firm tightness with the tap tool is also required for the tap collet.

Do you mean the o-ring broke. We have seen this before and to be honest the tap will still work fine without this o-ring. It's quite unusual for the actual sleeve to break. I have not heard of that before. Can you please email us a photo so we can give you more accurate advice.

We have been considering to change to a smaller o-ring as the current one just has slightly too much friction and can get chopped when the sleeve is forced into the bore of the tap as you have done.

At first, that's all I saw plus verbally, he said "it's the only one with a spring return". I see in the description the spring return is described as an option. And let me add something. I almost bought an Edgestar or similar keg and thank goodness I found Kegland. It's like having your good friends who are amazing engineers make beer stuff for you, but who aren't looking to just get rich. I think Beermeister is comparable in quality but at almost double the price.

Two leaking Nukataps FC's on 100mm stainless Nukatap long shank(KL11945) say the POK flow restrictor doesn't seal enough. Screw them as hard as you like - it does not help. No problem on the KL22859 (Ball Lock Disconnect with Integrated Tap Shank and Collar) and KL03247 (Stainless MFL Tap Shank Adaptor) because they come with a seal which sits in a recess on the back of the shank. Swap these seals to the 100mm stainless Nukatap long shank which came without them - surely enough they now seal just fine. I do wonder, however, why the flow restrictor has been designed with a relatively thin sealing face and these protruding tips. I had signs of flashing around these tips on both my Nuka FCs which indicate problems with the mould and might be the part of the reason why they are leaking on the Nukatap long shank without the seal. But since I can't change the design of the flow restrictor, the back seal is the way to go.

How’s the flow control functionality?

@@cameronbeare8086 Flow control is working nicely - from almost no flow to full flow. It is quite easy to disassemble and clean. What I would recommend is to get a bunch of food grade silicone seals (Outer Dia. x Inner Dia. ): 16mm x 14mm / 1mm Cross-Section. This is the seal for the FC mechanism and that was so far the only one to wear out relatively quickly.

The only time we have seen issues with the Nuka FC not sealing on the shanks is when the shanks are slightly dented. The Nukatap FC should seal very reliable with the POK directly on the smooth machined face of the shank. The only issue is that because we use a hard POK material if the stainless shank is dropped or even has a small dent on the face it prevents a good seal from taking place. It's possible to use emery paper and polish the face sealing surface and this will fix the issue too or adding a silicon seal but when the POK seals directly on the stainless this is the most reliable seal and it's also got the least oxygen transmission too(compared with silicone).
