Honestly what tf is up with young adult fiction? Why are most of the books that sound so interesting and actually worth reading actually such trash? And how tf do these books get published? Like honestly, as an aspiring writer, the amount of trash stories becoming books and TV series and movies is mind boggling.

I think the standards in YA publishing are so much lower. It's sad. YA readers shouldn't have to wade through trash to find a good book. This is why I don't read YA usually. I don't want to waste my reading time on shit.

*_Seasonaires High_* --------------------------------------------------- It’s midday. Hot as hot gets, the sun punishing all who dare to venture a foot outside of the reach of A/C. For some, being out in this heat is just part of the job… but that doesn’t mean they’re exempt from its disorienting effects. “Are you sure about this, Case?” Paul says as he stops on the bottom steps. “You’ve seen the same data,” Casey says, squinting at him from the top. “Where else could it be?” “Yeah, but….” “But what?” “Busting into this place seems kinda….” “Paul, you in or out? You need to figure that shit out right now.” “ _(sigh)_….” He cocks his gun and runs up beside her. “Alright. On me-” _RIIIIIIIIIIIIING!_ “Shit, go!” Casey charges through the doors, her outstretched Glock leading the way, jerking the weapon around at the many startled young faces-the gaggle of kids halting before her wide-eyed rage. “Where’s the coke?!” “Huh?” a boy, Johnny, says at the head of the group. “Don’t ‘huh’ me, you little shit! Where’s the shipment?!” “Oh, I have to get my coke.” He turns. Casey’s eyes bulge-she leaps, tackling him to the floor, the other kids screaming as they careen out of the way. “AAAGH!” Johnny cries out as the crowd circles them. “Let go of me!” She yanks his hands behind his back. “Where’s the coke?!” Paul runs toward them, panic on his face. “No, Case, he said he was going to get his coat!” “That’s not what I heard,” she says through gritted teeth. “And why in hell would he need a coat in this godforsaken heat?” “I’m just bringing it home from a- _(sob!)_ -class ski trip!” “Oh.” She releases him; the kid bawls uncontrollably. “Oh, just walk it off, kid.” Principle Otero sprints down the hall, a flock of tattletales in tow. “What’s going on here?!” All the kids talk at once, decrying the assault on their wailing classmate. “She did what?!” He turns to Casey. “These are just children-have you lost your mind?!” “Children. Pbbbt! You’ve no idea what goes on in these places. And that’s what the runners are counting on.” “What runners?” “Drug runners,” Paul says. “There’s a shipment straight out of Columbia that’s stashed at this school.” “Your information’s wrong!” “Our info’s solid!” Casey says with a ferocious glare and her grip tightening around her Glock. “How can coke you out of this lunacy?” “What?!” She dives, ramming her shoulder into his chest, sending him slamming back against the lockers with a BANG. He drops to the floor; she stands over him. “Can’t believe you actually tried to bribe me-in front of all these kids, too!” Paul pulls her back. “No, Case, he said ‘coax’ as in convince!” The principal writhes. “Uuunh! Just because the school’s name is Koch High, does not mean there’s drugs, you sicko! I’m gonna report you!” “C’mon. We should get going.” Paul says, grabbing her arm. “But-” “We’re already out on a limb with this one. Let’s just call it.” “ _(sigh)_ ” She gives principal Otero the side eye as she and her partner walk down the hall that’s filled with kids preparing for their next class, gossiping about the crazy events of the day. Principal Otero walks over to Johnny. “Are you alright, son?” “ _(sniffle)_ Yes, sir,” he says as he walks to his locker. Otero pats his head. “Everything will be alright. Okay?” Johnny nods as he smoothly slides his hand across Otero’s… leaving a white packet behind. Otero smiles, winks, then surreptitiously places this packet in his packet and walks away. Johnny snickers as he opens his locker-his eyes bulge at the gun emerging from it, pointing at his nose. “Where’s the coke, you little shit?”

Maybe, since this book has such a good plot and idea, someone will grab it and make it into a show or movie. They did that with the "Vampire Diaries" and changed so much. As far as books with scandal, I've got nothing. Have you read "The Savior's Champion" yet? I heard that was good.

I read the book and got three things to say: (1) While I was reading, I thought Mia would discover her new sexual identity and understand she's a lesbian and that's why she's so protective of Ruby (and not because she's a "fixer", like her roommate Presley suggested), Ruby would be her first love, so maybe Grace'd help her through her transformation like a big sister, and also that's why Cole's been described so bland (because he'd not be the main love interest, just a cute boy) but it didn't happen... (2) I thought Presley killed Grant (the bi one), because she was abused at past and maybe accidentally/really thought Grant was forcing himself on Ruby and just shot him (like kind of "Thelma&Louise"), and that's why she's so cool after that and made Mia not to talk. Mia's necklace really broke at the crime scene and she told that (it's in the book), I thought Presley pretended she didn't care, but then she went to farmers market and bought a second one and planted in the car, but it didn't happen... we suddenly learnt that Grace has happened to have an abusive past like Presley and became a raper (even she has a healty relationship with Jill) and a murderer. (3) And after all of that, Mia just went to her little town, like she never designed a phenomenal dress, she just dropped her social media accounts and became a I-don't-use-social-media person like her brother. Really? I mean REALLY? Is that ALL you can do with your (supposed) talent and summer experience? You need money to take care of your mother and you can earn it with your designs and summer-time reputation and you have a new sewing machine, BUT that's it then, ok, nice... I think author doesn't know these things, doesn't have enough information about the themes in the book (lgbti, fashion and bussiness world, drug stuff, people with abusive past) and she just bited off more than she can chew and couldn't overcome. However, a good screenwriter or a group of them can adapt the book to a YA tv series, they will develop characters and have inside knowledge of these themes, it has potential of a new idea (it can happen in real life as you mentioned)

you should make a video of some of the things you like to see in fiction. For example, things you like to see in relationships, friendships, and plot twists and which books portray it best, if that makes sense. Also maybe like a book guide -- books for people who like a particular genre or who like scandal or a certain element in characters or plot.

There are moments i found kinda cringy but i loved it.
