I suppose they should have gave him a hot bun and promoted him.Have you any idea of what a pirate is???They still exist today

So surprised that the pirate thing isn’t going STRONG in modern day. You’d think it’d be a hugely popular movement, piracy on the unregulated seas!?! Pirates with modern weaponry and equipment, ships, technology…? Terrifying. Love your channel, btw. Your accent is everything. XxxooO

Piracy is alive and well in the modern world. Some parts of Asia Africa and South America are as bad as they ever were.

Modern pirates sail around in luxury non-dom yachts, and asset-strip struggling companies in preference to attacking other vessels...

A few years ago a jacket at the Admiralty in London (or Greenwich?) was found with a document sewn into it from the King confirming that the holder was a privateer & had the necessary authority. I cannot remember if it belonged to Kidd or Morgan but one of them had a raw deal!
@drstarrii2 жыл бұрын
The real difference between pirate and privateer, is privateers had a legitimate place to fence their stolen goods.

Seems like most things can be declared piracy

Politically, this was a very confusing time. Perhaps it is no better now, but it certainly was a mess during this privateer's lifetime. He was obviously a highly skilled seaman, leader and military planner. But he certainly did not have the ability to judge the people who hired him or understand them. It is likely that he also was felled by "demon rum" at times when his actions were particularly reckless. He could have retired early, but obviously loved the tumult of action at sea. It cost him his life. Sanjosemike (no longer in CA)

Anyone who thinks this is a London accent or even one from south-east England should listen to the pronunciation of the word "chance" and the words "bucket" and "others": completely different vowels from anything you would hear in those areas. I am going to guess Grimsby in Lincolnshire in the East Midlands which is 177 miles from London, a considerable distance in UK terms.
