The local station still broadcasts in 1080p. Cody does a great job no matter what he uses and he’s is a master at editing. Most fast lenses are actually a little sharper closed down a little. Still most of us have to realize there is going to be a skill gap between those who create videos in their spare time and those who do it for a living.

Yes we can. Have done a whole lot of project with this camera. Just need to know m50 limitation. Other than that the footage coming out of it (especially 4K) is great in my opinion
@Ritalie3 жыл бұрын
I noticed today watching a Z6ii raw footage video by DP Review, that a large aperture less than 3.5/f actually looks terrible for certain footage, because the person appears to be superimposed. I think it's because modern lenses are so sharp, and there is such fine detail, that it doesn't look cinematic (natural) to have a person standing in front of blurry trees, and blurry curtains behind them, when the curtains are only a few feet away. Having too shallow of a "depth of field" makes things look more like a green screen, and not like natural footage. The Human eye naturally blurs the background so you don't need to add additional blur to the background in a natural cinematic shot.

Ive recently done 3 paid jobs and been a cameraman on a TV pilot, all with my M50.. which ive mastered thanks to this channel. However, I worked with a much more established videographer recently on an outdoor late night event and he struggled to inegrate much of my footage due to the poor dynamic range and low light capabilities (even with the 50mm f1.8 on the viltrox speedbooster) he was using a Sony A7sii which is a low light beast. For that reason ive literally just ordered the EOS R with 3 RF lenses, soooo excited. I will be keeping the M50 for B cam though

@MossCoveredBonez3 жыл бұрын
On top of dynamic range issues, I've had color depth issues on several occasions with the M50. 8-bit 4:2:0 just isn't enough to separate skin tones from similar hues, and grading falls apart really quick. Even with super flat picture profile. The m50 works when you have extreme control of the environment, but run&gun is rough and will require reshoots from time to time

This camera sounds like it would 99% be more than I could ever possibly need. It's that 1% of limitation that scares me. Hi there, I'm hoping you can give me a solution to why my M50 randomly keeps freezing when I shoot video... really frustrating as you can imagine. I have had the camera for 8 months with no issues but for the past 3 weeks... it freezes on the screen and the on off button doesn't work, I have to take the battery out and put it back in to get to work again... the footage is lost I have three batteries it happens on all of them. I brought a new Sandisk extreme 64gb SDXC to see if the memory card was the issue but it stills freezes. Would really appreciate it if you know the answer as it is driving me nuts. cheers Dave.

So i thought I'd have to zoom in as far as I can with my M50 with the kit lens in order to get the most shallow depth of field, but you actually have to zoom out all the way?
@TheCrowleyCrew3 жыл бұрын
That really depends. When I say “shooting wide” in reference to depth of field I am talking about the aperture. Yes shooting at 6.3 at 45mm will have shallower depth then 3.5 at 15mm. The more zoomed out your lens is the wider the aperture needs to be to get shallow depth of field. The more Zoomed in your lens is the easier it is to get shallow depth of field, but the kit lens doesn’t have great depth since it’s widest aperture is 6.3 at 45mm. I do have a video though about how to get better depth of field with the kit lens.

Far less capable cameras than M50 have been used for professional work but I would no go so far as saying that the camera does not matter. What matters in practice is working within your budget. M50 is a capable camera with many limitations and what matters most is being able to work within those limitations. BMPCC 6K has limitations as well. There are a few things M50 is better at.
