After 20+ years on a high oxalate diet (spinach, kale, almonds, tea, dark chocolate, sweet potato , etc. daily) I went carnivore 2 yrs ago. I'm still going through oxalate dumping periodically. So angry that the dangers of oxalates are never discussed but so glad I'm finally getting rid of them.

What are your dumping symptoms? I have so much oxalate damage due to my YEARS of " healthy" eating! I am only 7 months carnivore and off of oxalates. But the damage seems to be never-ending. Any life hacks you have learned about oxalate dumping?
@jayhoggard92
@jayhoggard92 8 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, no hacks. There's nothing I can do to trigger the dumping and the only two options are deal with the pain, or curtail the dumping by consuming oxalates. I try to deal with the pain unless it becomes completely unbearable bc I know that the best thing for me is to get the oxalates out. If the joint or bone pain becomes unbearable I finally give in and brew a really strong cup of black tea. The oxalate content of the tea slows the dumping and relieves the pain.

I ended up having black, tarry stools and severe gallbladder attacks and an ulcer that burned and gnawed at me. I started carnivore/ketovore January 2023, and my stomach issues stopped and healed. I used to feel so hungry all the time. Now, I eat only once or twice a day and I’m never hungry. The only carbs I eat now are pickle chips , seasoning, and 1 cup of coffee. That's why people need to drink copious amts of water...to flush out the fiber.

Apart from oxilates, the information is not really about some vitamins and minerals in lettuce, but that if one is looking for nutrients, eggs, meat and fish is a much better source, and they contain more of them with the same weight of the product, I mean the quantity and density. And one can of course eat a salad or vegetables, at least on Keto, but if one only eats this food and not enough animal protein, one has vitamin and minerals deficiency - one just can't eat enough of those with lettuce or vegetables. That's true, and you can find enough tables on the internet.

I like how you present this as fact yet the science is not clear if oxalates are bad, in fact the general population have no issue digesting oxalates and considering plants contain many other effects that negate this anyway. I understand you want to uplift the diet you think is "better" (carnivore) but the reality is that whole foods plant-based diets are overwhelmingly favourted in the research (especially the larger studies). @@LillieKane
@audreygregis8721

@@Danuxsy Then you've never looked for the studies, because there have already been studies done about oxalates causing heart disease and causing cancers. Fibroids in breasts and the uterus are oxalates. Both Dr. Natasha Campbell McBride and Susan Owens (who runs a low-oxalate FB group), both work with children in the special needs community and have spoken many times how taking children off of all oxalates improves their brain immensely....and the moment that eat one bite of an oxalate food, they can tell immediately how they change. If you buy Sally Norton's book, Toxic Superfoods, just released Jan '23, she has included 58 pages of her research, which includes studies on oxalates. Oxalates have been known about for DECADES. They've used them in industry for DECADES. They've used them to clean machinery for DECADES. That's exactly what Bar Keepers Friend is...oxalates. That's why people who use Bar Keepers Friend a lot, end up with crooked arthritic fingers. There is also a study done on the Carnivore Diet that was published Dec. '21, which Dr. Shawn Baker was very instrumental in helping with, asking his followers, or anyone who wanted to participate, to submit questionaires about their CV diet and results they saw.....cdn.nutrition.org/article/S2475-2991(22)10608-6/fulltext. And just recently many in the beef industry have contacted Dr. Baker wanting to help in any way they can to get more studies done on eating a Carnivore diet. But, all you'd have to do is go to Dr. Ken Berry's YT channel and read the hundreds, if not thousands by now, of comments from people who are in their 20's to 80's...how Carnivore has changed their lives by getting off all prescription drugs, reversing all kinds of health challenges, as well as dropping weight they could never lose. There is no reality that a whole food plant-based diet is better. It might be better for you, but it's definitely not better for those of us commenting under this video. I don't need a study to tell me that eating a Carnivore diet is better. All I have to know is that after eating Carnivore for 3yrs, last year, at 68, my allergies of 48yrs disappeared...and then I had a scary oxalate dumping from my lungs. NO ONE will tell me that oxalates aren't a "thing." You do NOT "digest" oxalates. They are plant defenses, and the only thing your body can do is get rid of them via the urine, feces, eyes (morning eye grit is oxalates), saliva, or the skin.

@@Danuxsy Looking up the latest statistics on the condition of the USA health it is abundantly clear that something is wrong about your narrative if the majority of the population is eating the USDA guideline. Only 8% are metabolically healthy with 70%+ obese. These numbers of fat and unhealthy people should make most people stop and think:Is the diet they are advocating responsible for this.If a farmer is feeding his livestock when all of them became fat and so arthritic,cancerous or crazy and exhibiting symptoms of poisoning he would stop feeding them that diet . The rising number of homeless people should be alarming and most if not all have mental issues which are clearly nutritionally linked but our officials are ignoring the situation. Name me one major US city that you would feel safe to go to the center of at any time of day or night? How many businesses are open and operating in the down town? Why are the sidewalks covered in human excrement? Wake up,look around and stop advocating fake human diets. Mediterranean countries food for thousands of years was animal based and still is. Why are there so many sheep,goats,and cattle in these countries? Do they herd and keep them just for pets? Things like bread and vegs and wine are not a major source of nutrients because you can't live on them.Humans can and have lived on eating nothing more than meat. Lettuce is there to provide texture, not nutrients. The secret to a good salad is legumes and feta or goat cheese, pumpkin seeds, better leafy greens than lettuce and spinach - dandelion greens, Swiss chard maybe mustard greens (Greens that don’t taste like chalk). Other vegetables like radishes. Olives, maybe some chicken or fish. Salad can be great and extremely satisfying if you go beyond basic. My salads are so good that I don’t need dressing. Unfortunately a lot of dieters don’t fully understand that you’ve still got to get your protein and calories (outside of dressing) in, but that’s not the salad’s fault I personally suspect that a rough period in my life was in part due to too much oxalates. I definitely wouldn’t eat huge salads daily for more than a few days in a row but they can be very healthy and delicious

I was at a day spa in Vegas and I was talking with a fairly fit middle age guy who said he was recently diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. I asked him about his past use of antibiotics and prednisone and what diets was like. He said he tried nearly every diets but eats "healthy and clean". Lots of green juices and smoothies. I told him I couldn't wake up or get out of bed when I was drinking a lot of green smoothies and it was Vegas Buffets 10 yrs ago that revived me. He kind of rolled his eyes, but I did ask him to research oxalates and plant toxins. Hope he gets better as he said he didn't want to be on cortisteroids/pharma drugs anymore.

Liver is good. We soak it in milk overnight before cooking to ameliorate the bitterness. It’s mild. Just need to find a way to coat it with something other than flour, which is what hubby does. Served with onions sautéed in butter.

The whole idea of eating high volume, low calorie foods, like vegetables, while dieting to lose weight, is to fill yourself up with something that doesn't have calories, to suppress hunger, while you're dieting, to allow your body to use its fat reserves instead of whatever calories you might otherwise be eating. That's a method which can work. That said, I wouldn't recommend that dieting method, when ketogenic diets are proving to be so much more effective.

There's also lots of other micronutrients in certain vegetables like the polyphenols and antioxidants etc. Look at turmeric and its effect on India's cancer rate.
@HappilyCarnivore
@HappilyCarnivore 8 ай бұрын
But they're not necessary. I personally can't do turmeric, or any plants at all. I only feel good and healthy when I eat only meat, fish, and eggs. When I try and reintroduce spices or vegetables I get a return of symptoms. I've been carnivore for almost 2 1/2 years. If I required polyphenols and antioxidants I seriously doubt I would feel healthiest without them.

@@HappilyCarnivore I don't disagree. From reading thousands of comments to these types of videos, the common theme is that everyone is different. I feel fantastic after juicing fruits and veggies. I like eating them. They provide nutrition. I also love meat eggs and cheese. I'm lucky because I like and tolerate pretty much all real non processed food.

Wow, I didn't even know colostrum powder was a thing. As someone with severe gut issues from years of a grain heavy diet, I have been using Slippery elm as it is the only non-medication thing I have found to help at all. I will definitely give the colostrum a go, as I would prefer something not plant based. (Sadly, I can't use your link, as I am in NZ, not US, but). Thanks.

Lillie says in her videos to increase protein slowly. I ate 60g protein on Keto, then learnt one needs about 100g. Tried to eat that and failed. Went back and now it's got better, doing about 80-90g a day, and on some days even 110. And I added whey protein cocktails, and even plant protein cocktails for support. It's not forever, because not natural, and contains a bit of sugar, but that's less problematic for the moment, just one step after another.
