The Legend of Huma was the first book I read after finishing Chronicles. It helped with the with-drawls from visiting Krynn every night for weeks and then suddenly find myself stranded here on earth. I did play a Paladin with a silver dragon mount in the late 90s. He began as an Anti-Paladin but the DM grew tired of all the impaling.

You were baffled that it took 16 months for them to appear in the game.. I'm stunned that it took some 2 years to get the complete and official novelization of how the Dragonlance was retrieved from the ice wall.. Sure we had hints in the poem in middle of the second book, we had a tale in the tales books, a quick glance in the DC graphic novel.. But we really had to wait for the lost chronicles to get the complete tale..

I am glad they went back and filled it in though.

I like the idea of Dragon lances but I feel they are something that should be used sparingly during a game. I used footman's laces in a game back in the 90s in 2nd edition. The power against dragons was that it would do my characters hit points worth of damage to dragons or dragon like creatures. I felt that my GM wanted me to use it in every fight. The issue I had with the dragon lance is its forged for killing Dragons and blessed by the gods. It should be used reverently. Its a story device and should not be something that a character should wield as their main weapon in every fight. Thanks for the video, its makes me happy to know someone cares enough to make good quality videos about Dragonlance. I will be joining the hearos of the lance today.

Thank you for watching! I completely agree. Use sparingly and only when necessary for drama in game.

Of course the best version of Huma's story is the song by the band Dungeon.

there were also greater and lesser greater you needed both the blessing of paladine and the hammer of kharas/silver arm the lesser lances only needed the hammer and silver arm.

I just finished reading the legend of humor bno humor book for the 2nd time. I liked the first half of the book for the most part, but there are too many inconsistencies from the original bits told in Chronicles and the others. I was most disappointed about how the author chose to handle the character Magius. Huma following the stag is left out as well.

That's the case with so many Dragonlance legends. Look at the Greystone... there's like 5 different versions, lol. Lord Soth? I think there's 3. The IP owners pass it off as 'Legends' or 'Cultural Perspective', but in a fantasy setting it's nice to know there is a true story over a legend at some point. Perhaps the last story told is the true version... ?

@@DLSagaright! Do you know of a better version that does Magius more Justice?

Kinda makes Paladine sound like a jerk.

I preferred the story told in The Legend of Huma, by Richard Knaak. The novel feels more like what would have actually happened, while the version told in the chronicles feels "passed-down". They're all great stories, and like great stories they fit well where they are used. I don't think any of them should be the one "true" story.

I also don't mind variations on a story. We see it in comic books all the time. I can appreciate them because at their core they are telling a great tale about a hero and world I love.
