Erm what about the XJ-S! Now I know things got of to a dodgy start because the car was misunderstood, but a 21 year production run that outsold the e-type and help save Jaguar in the 1980s. I think it’s about time the XJ-S was remembered with rather more affection than it receives.

That V12 thing is a boat anchor for a garbage scow. In Ft Huachucha Az in c.1963-65 was an SS100 Jag. Officers quarters housing. In 1966 in Los Altos around the corner from me was beautiful XKC, it was in R&T. In 1970 I drove a 1965 XKE thru Big Sur. Some little car got on my butt, I thought it was a 356 I had passed earlier. It was sunset, for maybe 30 miles we screamed the down twisty part Hwy1. He would get close going into turns but lose coming out .... The brakes on the E gave up and a P1800 went by!

Okay, I haven't read all of the comments but two very special, lovely Jaguars you left out are - firstly my late Mum's favorite, a 19600 Mk 9 Saloon and secondly, MY favorite, the subsequent (after the Mk 10), the 420G Saloon. Both are lovely cars, space, pace and grace, there's just something about these cars that captures me. I've driven a collection of Mk Vs in my younger days and enjoyed them immensely, gently cruising around and so on, but the 420G Saloon is definitely my personal favorite.

@@funkysquirrel3120 I remember when they were planning to offer with the v12 and when they pulled back to the v6 the pre-orders were canceled by the truck load. Buyers wanted the 12 and the music it makes. I think they would have sold with a v8, but much like the Ford GT some customers got turn off by the sound of the v6. Personally I like the sound of the SC v6 and loved the sound of the inline 6 in my XKE. The 220 was well balanced and if offered to today's market would probably sell well enough especially with the advancement in engine tech.

I would have taken both the XE-SV & the XJR off this list, and added the XK-SS & S-Type (1950's Mk1 with 3.4L). Literally any S-Type from 1955-1967 with the 3.4 or 3.8 over the XJR. Since the C & D Types were race cars and not intended for the street any more than the XE-SV, none of those 3 should be here either, just road going Jaguars.

Had me until XFR-S and beyond… meh…. Even the F-Type put me on the fence, though I had to give kudos to the design which is a fabulous reimagining of the E-Type; that said, it should’ve only been manufactured with a proper manual transmission. To call any automatic transmission with their silly paddles (you’re not a Formula One driver, give it up) a “sports car”, is a travesty. And enough with the digitally produced exhaust noise loud enough to wake up polar bears in Antarctica…. that’s you too lil peepee pick-up-truck owner… 😁
