Oh, poor fuzzy friend. She's ex military, and the sole survivor of her 'clan'. There were a few gentler ways she could have handled it, but it's obviously still fresh to her. Hopefully when I look at the original, it will have more to the story.

She said her kind all went in the opposite direction, so it's more likely that her whole family is dead. The way I interpreted it was that they had a family business, working on spacecrafts on a colonized but not fully populated planet. There was an incident, maybe a ship's reactor blew up; no way to know. The event destroyed the business and killed her family, leaving her alone. A company of one A family of one
