About The Expanse:
The disappearance of rich-girl-turned-political-activist Julie Mao links the lives of Ceres detective Joe Miller (Thomas Jane), accidental ship captain James Holden (Steven Strait) and U.N. politician Chrisjen Avasarala (Shohreh Aghdashloo). Amidst political tension between Earth, Mars and the Belt, they unravel the single greatest conspiracy of all time.
About The Expanse Seasons 2:
In this noir thriller set two hundred years in the future, the case of a missing young woman leads a washed-up detective across the solar system to uncover the greatest conspiracy in human history.
About The Expanse Seasons 3:
As the Rocinante crew digs deeper into the search for Prax's missing daughter, the war between Earth and Mars turns deadly in ways the solar system has never seen. But a new threat in the outer reaches of the Belt could prove much more dangerous, threatening to test the very future of humanity.
About The Expanse Seasons 4:
Season 4 of The Expanse, its first as a global Amazon Original, begins a new chapter for the series with the crew of the Rocinante on a mission from the U.N. to explore new worlds beyond the Ring Gate. Humanity has been given access to thousands of Earth-like planets which has created a land rush and furthered tensions between the opposing nations of Earth, Mars and the Belt. Ilus is the first of these planets, one rich with natural resources but also marked by the ruins of a long dead alien civilization. While Earthers, Martians and Belters maneuver to colonize Ilus and its natural resources, these early explorers don’t understand this new world and are unaware of the larger dangers that await them.
About The Expanse Seasons 5:
In different parts of the Solar System, the crew of the Rocinante and their allies confront the sins of their past, while Marco Inaros unleashes an attack that will alter the future of Earth, Mars, the Belt, and the worlds beyond the Ring.

The star moment in 5.03 for me was when Amos (Wes) realized the genuineness of his mom's husband/lover. The look of real regret/compassion toward him...the hand moving to support the old man's arm...and the plea of his earlier offer of tea making everything better...Amos changed at that moment to do the right thing, even when everything is crap.

The staff at the WH and AF one get to know the leaders as they serve them every day. They know their likes and dislikes. When to interrupt and when to leave them alone. And when the leaders term is up the staff stay behind as it is their job. The WH Chef comes to mind as well as the stewards on AF one. They get to know the leaders and see their human sides sans their political personas. Very well written in to the script. It's little touches like this that make this show excel at storytelling. It makes it seem more like a real environment that you immerse yourself in.

I really do have faith in this production... and I hate it when book fans get too attached to be able to respect changes made in retelling the story... but I was definitely reeling trying to figure out how those changes will have to lead to others. That's something I've loved about the series. While they're mostly adhering to the larger plot points and character arcs of the books, they shake things up in smart ways that throw everyone off guard. Sometimes it happens because of an earlier plot choice that they made. But when they make a choice, they commit to it, ripple effects and all.

What Avasarala showed to the audience is if there is a will there is a way, she knows the important information and she is sidelined but when situation needs it you must do everything that you can think of to bring that information to the right people, try all even if it fails, most of us don't do that. In the end she does succed in saving lives and giving information to right people who are listening to her in the end, she is almost like reverse Dukat, eternal politician who falls down but always goes up, maybe the example is not good but in Star Trek, Dukat has same sideline situations but gets up from it, difference is Dukat is a villan and Avasarala protagonist who is not perfect but is more good than bad

I really enjoy these sort of aftermath show because it is more "inside the episode, inside the season, inside the actors performance" - than some flamboyant host hysterically gushing all over the place about a show he just saw with a comic panel backing up his shouts and wired up act with canned jokes and laughter. (See Talking Dead, among others like it I could not stand after seeing 3 or 4 shows) This is about how art is made, how commercial decisions, collaborative inputs, editing much good material to make a better final product, happens. The insight of the showrunner, the writers, and actors absolutely adds to the pleasure. Their enthusiasm is infectious. Their careful casting, creation of scenes, and collaboration together of making this a superb character driven Sci Fi show, with solid individual arcs and solid overall story direction for 5 seasons is key to why I love this show so much. And Wes and Ty bring that out so well. And gems and Easter eggs galore! How friggin' good was the Bobby and her dead rat tale!! Just another bit of genius.

@@m.e.3862 That is an interesting comparison that did not even cross my mind, I was so busy being stunned that someone would think killing millions of innocent people and destroying part of humanity's home world like that would be something someone would actually do. I really have to hope that in the 24th century we have something better going on than terrorism and disaster capitalism.

I really wouldn't say that Marco is a master manipulator, he has a pretty average normal manipulator and abuser, which is why his character is so real and so scary, because abusive and manipulative people can get someone who is otherwise strong-willed and sure of themselves to fall into situations where they doubt themselves or where they are hurt, even though the abuser is not actually that powerful. Marco is an extremely scary version of that, because he is one of those formerly relatively powerless abusers who now has been handed a great deal of power
@TheClever69
@TheClever69 3 жыл бұрын
The thing with Marco is he's saying what the majority of Belters are thinking. They hate the Inners, they hate how badly they've been treated. This is why people rallied behind Anderson Dawes and Fred Johnson, but now situations have escalated and Marco has been able to use that to create his army. He's saying the same things Dawes said, it's just that the state of the galaxy now is much different
