The year was 1822 and appeared in the Missouri Republican newspaper was an ad requiring 'One Hundred enterprising young men......' to trap beaver along the Missouri river for a period of up to three years.
One of the men to apply was Hugh Glass, a 40 year old frontiersman from Pennsylvania.

Another report says that Glass actually died but as Death came to take him he grabbed Death by the balls and squeezed so hard that Death became a woman (Hence why Death is a female in the Deadpool stories). Glass then used Death's left leg as a splint for his own leg and Death's scythe as a walking stick.

...do you think that American public schools are unjustly not teaching interesting but ultimately irrelevant details of specific peoples' lives? There's a lot of American history out there. While I would love to heard all of these kickass stories, there simply wouldn't be enough time to learn about all the high-level things, like all the wars, reforms, social movements, etc, etc, over our (still relatively short)! 250 year history. This is why we have cool youtube channels like this as well as documentaries and movies (a movie was based off this event, starring Leo DiCaprio!) There is no end to fascinating stories throughout history, so instead of blaming the already thankless and underpaid teachers, instead praise people like this youtube channel and other similar outlets!

Revenants are vengeful spirits of the dead that refuse to pass on due to dying in unnatural, often violent circumstances by the actions of other people, such as being murdered. The only way for a revenant to pass on peacefully is for them to get revenge on the person(s) responsible for their death. This is how the movie story of Hugh Glass came to be called "The Revenant". Revenants cannot be harmed through conventional means as they feel no pain, nor fatigue. The only way of truly, permanently destroying one is by burning it completely. In rare cases, Revenants won't always pass on from getting their revenge, and go on to terrorize and attack every living person they come across. Revenants are not like zombies. They do not crave human flesh and retain much of their intelligence, being able to use tools and perform tasks at a level of complexity expected from the average person. Many can even speak if their vocal chords weren't damaged when they were killed.

Voiceovers are professional, animation is engaging and the subjects are interesting. After he left the pirates with his unknown friend, he got caught by pawnee indians. They stuck pine needles into his friend and burned him. While this was happening Glass watched him die, and he would soon have the same fate. The day of his burning he gave the pawnee cheif a pack of vermillian as last resort. The chief saw it as a sign from the gods and adopted Hugh. That is how he joined the pawnee indian tribe. This is also were he learned the skills to survive.

I've always liked the story of Hugh Glass,. I had a cassette tape with a bunch of mountain men stories when I was a kid. The way they told it two men set with him after the bear attack waiting for him to die. He didn't so they got tired of waiting and divide up his belongings. He heard it all but wasn't able to do anything about it and was so mad he decided he was going to get revenge. So after they leave he finally comes around enough to crawl under a bush and eat some berries and things. He get enough strength to stand and start walking. He finally got back to civilization and get some things together one being a big Bowie type knife and goes looking for the men who left him to die going to kill them. He tracks them down to a saloon where they are sitting at a table, he walked in and over to the table stabs his knife into it and says" my name is Hugh Glass, and I ain't dead yet." Then turns and walks out. I listened to the tape till I wore it out. Not sure how accurate it all is but I never heard it told like.

I am surprised Glass had managed to survive from such vicious wounds like that from a bear, with those wounds he should've been dead, but this dude pulled through without any medical help, in the freezing cold, on his own, and had to trek 200 miles to a nearby fort. It's good that people are now talking about the Hugh Glass story, helped more by the 2015 film _The Revenant,_ I was even thinking of making a review about that movie. I also heard on another account that Glass had warned Fitzgerald to never leave the Army, or else he would still hunt down and kill him.

The survival stories of some of these mountain men are simply amazing if you bothered looking into them. For example, the one mountain man shot in the foot that had to do his own amputation with his hunting knife that somehow survived, and he even made his own wooden prosthetic. Considering how 'learned' doctors in medicine were at this time using mercury as medicine, these hunters and trappers became quite good at their own form that was probably better than actual doctors. (For example, doctors would have cleaned out the maggots with their bare, unclean fingers while the trappers knew that maggots ate only dead flesh.)
