I got the GL850 after testing 7 Monitors and returned them all, it has the best colors, best performance. it is just amazing. My test were all on IPS Monitors but this Nano IPS is in another level. based on my tests it has the best colors between IPS monitors, for me the blacks are OK. if you want very deep black the IPS is not the solution , but if you want extreamly vibrant and live colors the GL 850 is the best choice. also it has a bit light bleeding but differs from unit to unit and it is normal on IPS

A possibility to get the smoothest feeling in the monitor is to lock the frame rate to 3fps lower than the max refresh rate and enable vsync on that specific game in the nvidia control panel. It will make sure freesync and input lag is lowest possible with freesync/adaptive sync on. With 144fps it will sometimes not be utilized as should.

What settings do you use on your monitor? I’m using an HDMI 2.0 with 1440p @ 60hz. For some reason the colours, black lighting and contrast are so horrible I can hardly see, my screen looks nothing like the one in the video.

@@lyecon2771 Use the display port first off so you can get full 144hz as I believe HDMI limits you to 60hz. I generally switch between the presets depending on the game im playing too (Gamer 1, 2 or Vivid), then just fiddle with the brightness if need be. Hope this helps!

Joe Kirk I’m using an HDMI 2.1 now. I think the issues I’m having is the graphical capabilities of the xbox one X. The colours are overly saturated and the blacks are way too deep making the screen look really unsettling. I did mess around with the settings and I did make it look a lot better but the blacks are still way too dark making it hard to see certain things I would normally see on my older and much cheaper gaming monitor

@@iDTecKt Yes the contrast is a bit weak, even for an IPS monitor. But I wouldn't quite say it's "more like a TN panel". It's IPS and a good high quality LG Nano panel. It has other things like wide color gamut and it's still very vibrant etc. It just doesn't have the contrast of VA panels. In practise it's hard to notice a difference between the LG and a comparable IPS/TN panel in terms of contrast. IPS and TN mostly tend to have around 1000 contrast, usually falling a bit short of that. IPS aren't known for high contrast anyway. The LG falls short of that more than others but it's still 700 contrast minimum and on average about 800-850. It's not the best for dark movies/content but it's OK. Not a dealbreaker. Plus it's amazing for gaming. And to the other guy: Okay. Btw for anyone reading this: I ordered this monitor today to replace my main monitor and my current main will replace my secondary :). It's the best 27'' 1440p IPS 144hz monitor in its price range based on all the information I could find... I read many reviews and lots of opinions. PC Centric reviewed a ViewSonic monitor (February 2020, go look and you'll find it) and that one doesn't have HDR at all (even though it's a gimmick on the LG but still) and it's slightly better in some ways but it's 300€ more where I live... Much more expensive. +It's out of stock. So yeah this monitor seems awesome and the best choice in 2020... For the time being. The upcoming GL950 model is 4K, not 1440p so that won't help me... I don't want 4K.

This is fastest IPS panel right now and close to TN due to NanoIPS technology. Waiting for more monitors with it and better contrast ratio. 24-25" 1080p NanoIPS with very fast response time is what 1080p players wants. That LG is srsly really good for someone who like 1440p and can handle it. I'll buy it probably and first time test 1440p 27" and that really fast(for ips) response time. One bad think is 800~:1 contrast ratio,but it's depend on personal preference.

I have this monitor and the blacks are great as long as you are not in a dark room. The brightness is way more than needed. View angles are poor. I highly reccommend you use a GTX 1070 bare minimum.. otherwise this monitor will look like ass. If you can afford £400+ sure... I wouldn't recommend it if you are on a budget and expect to be wowed.

But the contrast bruh, the contrast! Literally the only thing that'd be a massive downgrade from my current 1080p 144hz freesync monitor ;p It's weird that you've seen tears using the adaptive sync though... The only issue I've ever had with freesync after extensive testing (mostly with AMD cards though) is screen-brightness flickering when viewing an evenly colored screen (like turning camera while looking down at a huge patch of grass in-game). No tearing though, if set up properly (which can be a bitch at first).

The part where he said screen tearing can still happen even though the monitor is gsync compatible made me lose all hope for this monitor. I really don't want to go G-syncless ever. When i first started PC gaming I unfortunately started with the AC franchise and I had just bought a MSI G70 Dragon Edition 2 gaming laptop - unfortuantely for me the UBISOFT game specs said may or may not work with laptop gpus. which sucked and i had to enable v-sync and i got so many terrible stutters in games like AC3. My workaround? cap the fps to 50fps with v-sync on. yeah that worked. it was smooth. no stutter nothing. Not sure WHY that works based on all the vsync/hz videos but ok.

Only difference between the two: the GL850 has the nano IPS display; so better colors and I assume better response times. It also has USB ports where as the GL83 doesn't.

A lot of people are comparing IPS and VA and saying VA is better because TV's look better, yeah... But VA have the WORST response time out of the 3 panel types, IPS, TN and VA. (We're not going to mention OLED but that's just stupid) VA is Perfect for a TV but absolutely terrible for gaming, ESPECIALLY at higher refresh rates, I guess a lot of you don't actually do your research and just look at a monitor/TV and immediately think if it looks better it's better. WRONG. VA have great blacks, pretty much the same viewing angles, same colour accuracy and are cheaper but have HORRIBLE response time, at 60hz, that's fine having a slower response time but if you are at 120hz+ you MUST have a response time better than 7ms, if you don't, you will enjoy a lot of smearing, ghosting, blurring and other horrendous things that come with high refresh rates and slow response times, something VA TV's do A LOT of, if you can't see it? You're not that big into gaming I'm afraid, or your eyes are just kaput so you really shouldn't even be talking about what's better, TN or IPS for 120Hz-144hz, (don't pick a 165hz IPS, the only one on the market capable of doing that is this LG because of it's fast response time and they kept it at 144 for a damn good reason, it just meets the threshold) 144hz+ has to be TN and if it's 60hz, use whatever the heck you'd like, response times for 60hz can be in the 12ms range and it won't cause blurring or ghosting, which is why a lot of 60hz VA TV's look superior to your eyes, but in reality, suck for gaming. Ya'll need to do some god damn research before you open your idiotic traps :)

i've got to save up for the 3080tuf to replace my non existent graphics card i have now first, but in researching screens (and of course i will not have anything but an IPS) this seems to be the front runner given that its $900nzd price is about max i would want to spend on a screen (if i can even go that high)...... I am bummed out that an IPS that has 144hz and has a resolution above 1920x1080 seems to only be available in 27inch tho..... I really wanted to go to a 32inch after spending like the last 12 years on a 24inch... but you just cant get that resolution/refresh rate and response time in a 32inch and have it be an IPS.... especially for the price i would want to be looking at! I guess size CANT be everything if you actually care about the rest of the specs..

More size means you need more pixels. For 1440p 27 or 24 inch is what you want to go for. 32inch would be for 4k.

You saw tearing in your monitor because you didn't enabled V-Sync.This is a requirement to keep the FPS bellow the maximum refresh rate of the monitor.

Isnt it enought to enable "gsync" in nvidi settings? Isnt gsync suposed to prevent tearing instead so you dont have to use vsync vsync?

@@dannje8405 enabling g-sync or freesync will eliminate tearing while your fps are below the maximum refresh rate of your monitor . When your fps will go above that you will see tearing. Either you enable v-sync or cap your fps to your maximum refresh rate maybe a couple fps lower
