I have questions for the CA State Bar. The primary one being, Where the hell were you?! Also, do you feel guilty knowing that all of those parties thrown and dinners you ate were paid for by victims of tragedy? The Bar overlooked so much that all of these clients might not have lost what they were entitled to. Edit: grammar

As someone who watched my attorney father develop Alzheimer’s and Lewy Body Dementia, you would be surprised what high-functioning people are capable of despite their executive functioning falling apart at the seams. Especially if it’s tasks that they learned a long time ago. For many, financial mismanagement is the first time the outside world can see what’s been going on in their heads for years. My father could dictate a brief in full blown legalese even a year before he died. If they have people around who have helped compensate, it’s completely reasonable to expect someone could teach CLEs immediately pre-diagnosis. I had a history prof who could teach his class for 3 years post-diagnosis (with a conservatorship) but only in a particular classroom. He could drive to & from home, but only to a particular reserved spot. His TAs did all the grading and all the office hours. When his wife died suddenly, it all came out how much she had helped work out accommodations for him. Honestly, when I first heard the accusations in the Lion Air case, I told my husband that it sounded like someone with dementia.

This happeneds with my grandma aswell, she started calling me the wrong name and didnt know what had happened in the last week or even if shed eaten that day, but if you asked her about something from 10-20 years ago she would light up and tell you it like it was yesterday! So if it was something he learned years ago that could totally happen! Also the timing of them mentioning it seems suspicious but it can be really hard to get a diagnosis as if its early stage and nobody is their legal guardian you cannot talk to their doctor (at least in the UK) and if they are a stubborn person they will deny theres anything wrong!

Whilst I am absolutely not defending his actions at all, & clearly they well and truly pre-date any potential mental decline; I have seen people with severe dementia who manage to appear perfectly fine in public, but once you scratch the surface it’s all just good acting & their personal life is in ruins.

Not sticking up for anyone because I no nothing about the case. Just saying my mum went downhill from living a normal life, got an infection and that was the catalyst for sudden onset dementia. Within 2 weeks she went from my mum to a very confused and scared stressed sometimes my mum. She set the kitchen on fire and didnt know what to do to put it out. Here in the uk she was still expected to stay in her home with drop in home help to give her her food. We had to fight tooth and nail to get her into a senior care home. So just saying it can be quick and stress or underlying illness can light the touch paper. It is iffy though
@kelseywillow81103 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing. That’s terrible. I have a similar experience in my family. My grandmother had to go to the hospital after she fell and then her dementia got very bad. Stressful situations like debt, divorce and changing homes could also change someone very much. My aunt already had some sort of amnesia when it comes to words to express herself. She had to go to a special care because it was not possible for her to live at home (her personality started changing and she was confused a lot). My uncle forced her to leave to live with special care but she was stubborn and didn’t want to. It seems like changing the environment and the habits she used to have ruined her. It literally took this traumatic event to completely lose it, she doesn’t have any memory or way to communicate and she doesn’t even remember who my mother is. I believe she vaguely recognizes her kids and husband but it’s not good. I haven’t seen her and doctors say it so better to not visit. It’s like someone died and it’s very difficult right now to process because she is still alive.
@kelseywillow81103 жыл бұрын
It’s difficult to know what’s going on inside of Tom’s mind. It’s difficult to judge. Also people with dementia can have clear focused moments when it comes to knowledge from the past, I think some people go back to the mind they had when they were 30. This man was a lawyer for so long he could very well have moments were he is able to talk about difficult subjects and cases, but the next moment be totally lost. I had very focused and detailed conversations with my grandmothers about the history of their hometown or traditions from the past. It was very rare, most of the time they were confused and lost. Others with very bad dementia can go back to being a child and want Dolls or stuffed animals.

YIKES!!! This angers me deeply. You’d think I personally had "a dog in the fight!" She’s out spending millions on making videos about being rich while the people actually owed the money are fighting to keep their bills paid! Absolutely ridiculous! And since she’s made it so well known that she’s so smart and she’s no one fool, of course she knew what the old man was doing! She’s as guilty as he is.

? QUESTION: Did TG run his business as a sole proprietorship (Schedule "C" on individual tax return)?
@duchessofdissent57283 жыл бұрын
I am not Emily but yes, assuming he filed federal tax returns, his gross income from his law practice would be reported a schedule C.

I'm with ya I kind of feel Erika had no idea how deep this issue ran with Tom, your approach is refreshing!
@brynndally98693 жыл бұрын
I think so too and I think he transferred money to his kids so they could put him in a conservatorship and pay off media to focus on Erika so she gets taken down with or for him

Hello. Not that I'm defending Girardi in any way (because apart from this channel, I was not aware of his existence, am not from the US if that makes a difference), but I think it should be said that dementia isn't as simple as "Oh, he's lucid so he doesn't have dementia." Patients have very very lucid moments where they really don't appear like they have the disease. So him doing lectures and people saying he wasn't acting strangely don't really contribute anything to the diagnosis. It could be that at that time his symptoms were still mild and he'd be primarily lucid throughout the day. The first thing to go in dementia is short term memory, as in he wouldn't remember what was said a few seconds ago. He would just ask "Sorry, what did you say again?" and it wouldn't come across as strange. As the disease progresses, he would start losing more long-term memories until he finally loses his earliest memories including his own name. It's a neurodegenerative disease and a progressive disease. Unless you have a trained clinical eye, you wouldn't really see the symptoms especially at the beginning of the disease. Sorry for the wall of text. Lol I just needed to clarify that for my own peace of mind. I just felt like it's doing a disservice to dementia patients and their families to keep saying (because I also heard it mentioned in an earlier Girardi video) that just because the patient is lucid means they aren't affected by the disease. So, uh... thanks for reading, I guess. Lol :)

So totally random, I asked my mom how to pronounce Ruigomez and she said the u is silent so Ri-gomez is how it’s pronounced, at least that’s what she said, then she did a grammar lesson 😂 to remind me that the u is silent in cases like Ruigomez unless the u looks like ü
