They're all moved by her singing - but she's not singing for any of them. She's singing for herself - and she's singing for her fellow fallen tributes.....I don't think any of them can see the contempt for them and the rest of the capitol that she is showing them in her eyes.

Let’s take a moment and appreciate the book version of this scene. It is day 4 of the Games. There are 7 kids left. Circ of District 3 and Coral of District 4 are eliminated by the snakes, leaving 5 tributes left to play. Teslee of District 3 and Mizzen of District 4 save themselves by climbing up poles and beams in the open field of the arena. Treech of District 7 is hiding in the stands and rubble because he ran quickly when he saw the snake, foolish kid thought the box containing the snakes was an extravagant gift for him originally, or at least that’s why Snow assumed he was walking towards the box before it opened. Reaper is still alive and Lucy Gray starts singing in the tunnels and walks out with snakes surrounding her. She is terrified but keeps singing all while barefoot, imagine the possible blisters she has and the radiation burns from the sun? After this unfolds I can’t remember if it was Lucky or Lepidus tells Dr.Gaul to take a bow for her amazing show. The Games then go on for another day and Lucy Gray uses one of the snakes to kill Treech when he nearly hacks her with his ax.

I read somewhere once that she's not singing for the snakes in the arena, but the ones in the capital watching her
@joewhitehead34 ай бұрын
I’d say that’s accurate
@GG_Trevor2 ай бұрын
I must disagree, to me I think who she is singing to changes throughout the song. The beginning of the song she believes she is about to die. She is saying farewell accepting her death in a way that is true to her. She is a song writer and a singer, so in the end what's a better way for her to sign off then with a song. I get this impression from her voice, at the start it is soft scared and shakey. Then in the middle when the snakes aren't attacking her but moving all around her she gets a little more confident in her song, she believes the singing is helping, so she is singing to the snakes. I don't think she is singing to the capital yet because she never looks at them, she is looking at the snakes and or the distance. But at the end of the song when she looks right at the camera with a look of contempt she is now singing towards the capital a small hint of defiance and hatred but of course the citizens don't see it that way. It's a journey throughout the whole song for her aswell for everyone watching. It's a touching scene because of the way it changes throughout the song, her voice her body language. It's really well done and rachel did a wonderful job in this performance 👏

@@Celeste-bx8my it was just so unrealistic like any sense of immersion throughout the entire film was just consistently thrown out the window, it was so unrealistic to the point where even the first film, with all its leans into fantasy, seems like a documentary in comparison

I guess it could be because they were trying to make it somewhat realistic because she was in obvious distress so she might not have been able to sing at her full potential. Just a guess though 😮

It really was, the chanting wasn’t in the book and this wasn’t even the grand finale in the book either. In the book after the snakes make their attack there are still 5 kids left and the Games don’t end until the following day.

This is so hilariously bad. Bad singing, bad special effects, bad coloration, bad acting, bad sound design, bad editing. This is just one big pile of poo and yet I can't turn away and I can't stop laughing. The grungy wailing that borders on yodeling at 1:44 where you can LITTERALLY SEE where people stopped watching the clip in the retention graph... is so bad that it's a masterpiece. Also... Unless these snakes are robots this is just stupid. Snakes don't act like this... Even a child knows that.
