And on that note...... not watching it. Since I've had children; that kind of stuff wreck me. I can't even begin to imagine the pain. I wish that no parent ever would have to bury their child..... it's the absolute worst case in my opinion. I really don't know if I would survive. My heart might just quit. When Cary's brother Steven died 10 years after he escaped, one of his pallbearers was the boy he had rescued, Timmy White (now 14). White later became a Sheriff's Deputy . . . and died at age 35 of a pulmonary embolism. His parents outlived him and he left behind his wife and children. This is a heartbreaking story all around. Both boys deserved to live long, happy lives.

Sai has the right family, and video, in mind, @Last Chance . Kay Stayner (d. 2021) had been molested by her father. She kept him away from her 3 daughters, however couldn't stop her husband, Delbert (d. 2013), from reportedly raping them. ☹ Add-on their son Steven's abduction, and Cary's subsequent horror shows ~ I'd say, poor family, indeed! 😐😑 It's a crying shame, for 💞everyone💞 named in this video, and all surviving relatives, and friends. 😔

Those boys needed therapy, but back in those days, seeing a therapist held a huge stigma. I grew up in that situation. Never was allowed to seek help because boomers are obsessed with appearances and maintaining the status quo. But you can't say that he didn't love his sons. You can love someone yet still do wrong by them. That said though, do you know how many young boys go through something similar and DON'T become serial killers? This wasn't a nature vs nurture thing. Omg, I remember so clearly when this happened! I was in Middle School and my Mom & I visited Yosemite two weeks before the first three women were kidnapped. I remember it really shook my Mom up because she was a single parent and fiercely independent. We lived in Washington State but would go on road trips all the time. Being a big fan of the outdoors, we would often stay at State or National Parks, usually in the lodges because they were cheaper and family friendly. After this happened, we would only travel with other families or friends. Thank you for covering this story. I knew they found the killer, but I didn’t know who his family was or that he had other victims. Super scary!

This story is utterly heart wrenching! Thanks Mike. You are truly gifted in the art of story telling. Respectful and yet finding humor in the dark moments. How rare a gift it is. Blessings and peace to this poor family who endured so much. Unfathomable.

Omg that precious dad. I lost my dad in March and this gentleman reminds me of him. Not looks but the love he shows. There’s something special about dads. My prayers are most certainly with all those facing circumstances such as this. ✌️❤️☺️

I'm truly happy you had a good dad. Unfortunately mine is a POS, so not all dads are good, but my heart really aches to have had a loving relationship with my father and have had a man as compassionate as that guy. I became homeless as a teen through absolutely no fault of my own. I had always seen my dad, every week of my life, but I was going through somethings and didn't see him for about a year. That shouldn't have made any difference to a mature person. When I told him what had happened to me, he told me to stop calling and bothering him and my grandmother, his mom, even though I had only called once. He hung up, essentially leaving me to die. Thankfully I got out of it, though my PTSD is through the roof still, though I'm nearly 40 now. I could have killed or sexually assaulted and he just... didn't want to deal with it. Typing this was painful enough.

I've only recently discovered your channel and I've been binge watching episode after episode for days now... with seemingly SO many more vids to go (which is perfect.. I never want to run out - your style, humour/self deprecation/authenticity, and lighthearted yet poignant insight into all these cases is fantastic work). Anyway. What got me thinking is... how many murders and serial killers have been around and still are. It's mind boggling.. and channels like these really make you realise this stuff is more common than we tend to imagine. Scary stuff.. and so sad how many lives have been taken for so little (not like there's ever any justification for murder). Anyway, keep it up man. Love it.
