The 270X is capable of playing games at 1080p. By turning the resolution down to 720p, the CPU becomes a much bigger bottleneck, thus the GPU is not able to perform at it's best. This would explain the lows being under 30FPS, and why there was likely stutter during gameplay. Mind you, the Q8200 is a bottleneck for the 270X regardless, but I don't understand why 720p and low presets were the chosen settings for the benchmarks.

He is trying to run Doom at half the recommend memory, same for GTA V, Fallout 4, the Witcher 3 needs 6gb of ram, and overwatch minimum requirement is 4gb of ram.....but for some reason I cant believe this myself. Personally I think one of the cpu cores half way fried itself, and or is dying. Which would probably be the most likely scenario.

the 8Gigs of RAM will only eliminate stuttering not giving that higher FPS he's expecting. Of course it will help too much but its not the real problem here the problem is that CPU, 4MB of cache for a CPU that old will defenitly not help

The Q8200 is considerably slower than the Q6600, as it has a lower clock speed and less cache aswell. And did you do a clean install after you swapped the CPU, because if you didn't you must go into device manager and uninstall the C2D otherwise the system will only be runing at 2 cores.
@bill_clinton6976 жыл бұрын
Foreigner037, the processor itself doesn't have drivers to install / uninstall. If you are using a Pentium 4 and your motherboard supports a Core 2 Quad, then you can upgrade to the Core 2 Quad just fine. The issue here is the lack of RAM. 4 GB of RAM is not enough for gaming in 2018. It is plenty if you are just watching video or playing games from 5 years ago, but not today's games.

@Chris Schuler While a 270x will be bottlenecked by a q8200, i don't think putting in a faster C2Q would change results much. And GHG could have done so, seeing as he has a Q6600 in another Dell. My guess would have been the BIOS, motherboard, and/or maybe the fact he had 4GB DDR2 in that Dell while the games he tested recommend 8GB.

CPU bottleneck. The Q8200 has less L2 cache than the Q6600, at roughly the same clock. BSEL mod the Q6600 with a conductive pen to 1333 FSB @ 3Ghz, or drop in a X3370 Xeon LGA 775 for $40 US. Then that T3400 will run!
@xavalintm7 жыл бұрын
John Kleppan So a Q9550 (12mb cache) would solve that fps problem?
@johnkleppan84547 жыл бұрын
If you have a T3400, it will support 1333FSB Q9650/Xeon E5450. Pair with 8GB Ram. If you do not yet have the system, a T3500/T7500 gives you faster CPU and Ram options.
@lisov45757 жыл бұрын
What about the fact that the motherboard don't support Xeons? Is there a microcode update for BIOS?
@johnkleppan84547 жыл бұрын
X3370 is currently the same price as Q9650, $52 US. 3.0GHZ. Runs on latest BIOS. Both are 775 sockets. 2x6MB L2 cache.2.83GHZ X3360 or Q9550 next best for $30. Unless you already own a T3400/T7400 workstation, the T7500 is a much better platform to build on. Supports dual W series 6-core xeons and ECC memory, just look for one with dual CPU option already installed, the heatsink/memory/CPU modules are cost prohibitive.

Nice video, but I'm curious: is DDR2 RAM significantly slower than DDR3 (and other later variants)? You only went for 4 GB RAM as well. I'm pretty sure GTA V and The Witcher 3 both require a minimum of at least 6 GB of RAM. 8 GB RAM has been set as the standard for modern PC gaming, so I'm pretty interested in how much of a difference there would be with more RAM installed.

Nice video :)) As much as I love long, drawn out content which have been edited for hours and look fantastic, but considering it took well over 2 minutes to even get to the actual content, it is just not efficient to watch. don't get me wrong it was a gr8 build up with the jungle and mystery theme. still it's at best 3 minutes content stretched more than double the time. but it's your unique style and I think it's fitting with the soft voice you're using. well that's my feedback. you have to decide for yourself if to keep it and spent the time editing or just make it a bit more basic. audio 8.5/10 video 8/10

I've been inspired by this channel. The motherboard in my current rig died, so I'm gutting it. I found a "junk" pc for $10, gutted all the interior. I'm taking my fx 8350 and gtx 960 (sorry, no Radeon), getting the ONLY mATX board on the market, and making a half new half "junk" pc out of it for a friend to use for photoshop and some 1080p games. My main machine is still going to be all sexy new parts though.
