Which is your favorite?
@joels57223 жыл бұрын
@@jb7707 Very tough question. Here’s what I’ve learned from my own use and what’s I’ve been hearing from others. I would say the Jääkäripuukko is the most bombproof - it’s hard for me to imagine it breaking even under extreme abuse. Both the Jääkäripuukko and the Terasaur needed some grinding on the spine to get them sharp enough for my liking. The Garberg plastic sheath that I received was faulty - basically zero retention, so I got an aftermarket leather sheath. The Jääkäripuukko feels like the highest quality knife in pretty much every way, especially the sheath, which is miles ahead of the leather sheath you can get with the garberg. Here’s my conclusion - all 3 knives are awesome. Can’t go wrong with the terasaur if budget is your main concern. The garberg is great, but it didn’t dazzle me, and I’m salty about the sheath. The Jääkäripuukko just feels like the most premium knife, which makes it my favorite.

I bought the Terrasaur as a backup based on this DBK video, and it has become my go-to. I like it nearly as much as my Fallkniven, but at just $47, I don't feel bad abusing it in ways I wouldn't dream of with a $240 knife. If I'm being totally practical, the ability to use a knife as intended instead of being afraid to damage a more beautiful and expensive option makes the Condor a better overall tool. Thanks for the recommendation, boys. Keep up the good work. (Oh, and a quick tip: I originally bought the olive drab version because I wanted to look cool and bush-crafty. I lost it in the woods within 2 days. So my second was the blaze orange. If I lose that, I probably shouldn't be allowed to have knives all.)

By the way regarding the broken knife I noticed that there was snow around. What means that the temperature had to be at least at around 0゚C. Steel especially carbon steel Has a certain temperature, at which it will stop being able to flex and start to behave more rigid like glas. Therefore unable to absorb shock without shattering. That could be the reason behind why it broke Englisch: Nil-ductility temperature NDTT oder ductile-brittle transition temperature DBTT ( Just a theory please be gentle if I'm wrong )

I'd love to see you guys trying to break a mora bushcraft black. Since it's not full tang but pretty sturdy, it would be nice to see how much it can handle
@greekveteran27152 жыл бұрын
The Bushcraft Black's tang, is very similar to the Gerber Strongarm with the only difference that the B/Black stops at 4/5 of the length of the handle. It's still better than what most people think as full tang knives nowdays, when they are actually "Skeletonized Tang" knives which is different than what actually a real Full Tang knife is. The cuts inside those skeletonized tang knives, may releave some weight and add to the balance but in the same time they are potential failure points. The most robust desing is the real Full Tang and then it's the style the Strongarm and the Jaakari Puukko come with. Not much different, than the Bushcraft Black's tang! It still has nothing to do, with the way they destroy knives with the Air rifle! Because it's the heat treatment, the thickness of the blade and the grind and then the steel itself, that matter, not the tang inside the handle.

Great Video. I review knives myself and I do knife Unboxing video's also. For years I have praised the Mora Garberg. Then I purchased the Terava Jakkariipuukko 140 in stainless steel & Carbon Steel. They became my New Favorites! I eventually purchased the Condor Terrasaur in 1095 carbon steel. It is a great knife in my opinion,... especially for the Money. - That being said: I Prefer the Terava Jakkaripuukko because it has a better sheath & it fits my hand much better. So I agree with Marteen on this one,...LOL - - So now in order of Best to worst: 1) Terava Jakkaripuukko, 2) Condor Terrasaur, 3) the Mora Garberg. I never thought Condor would outperform Mora. I'm sorry to say Mikkie, but I got to handle both the Condor Terrasaur and the Terava Jaakaripuuko (sp) and I have to agree with Maarten about the comfort of the Terava's handle, it is a lot more comfortable to handle than the Condor. I'm not going to knock Condor because I really like their products and have used a Condor Machete for many years. For a budget knife under $100.00US I think it's very hard to beat the Terava but with newer steels hitting the market there are some really cool knives sporting CPM-154, S35VN, S30VN and even CTS-XHP (really hard but brittle I think) entering the market at really low prices. Heck I've even seen a couple Spyderco knives with the same steel as the Rockstead ZDP-189 for under $200.00CAD!! In fact I'm seriously considering a Spyderco Stretch 2 with ZDP-189 steel. It's almost becoming too confusing trying to keep up with and understand where all these Steels line up against each other for edge retention, durability, ease of sharpening and overall performance. Maybe a future episode could look at the available premium and budget steels to see where they all fit. I still like S35VN as an "All-Rounder" Steel but that's just me, I have a Buck 110 pro with S30V and am looking for something over the winter to become my new #1 Bushcraft knife, and I haven't even come close to looking at all the options like PDK and Sleipnir Steel and so on. When you're budgeting around $350US for a knife, or pair of knives it's really tough to choose. Loved the video, take care lads!!
