My thoughts here would be Kiryu's bucket list would be a game mechanic, since most of the previous important characters are already teased as Poundmates, that might be their plan for it albeit more serious cuz' it's gonna be Kiryu's last rodeo. But damn, this is gonna be a good game in my opinion.

i would like it if his bucket list is his substory list. have ichiban have the weird whacky woohoo times in hawaii, Kiryu having this as his side content. cause it feels fitting that Kiryu would have his own closure being side lined for the plot and you basically making him go do it. or have it be similar to Ichibans island thing where it's like the major side content of the game (ie, like the real estate stuff in 7) which as you go through it, unlocks abilities for Kiryu. though i dont think it needs such an insentive.

For him to survive or not survive cancer, Gaiden and IW looks MUCH more like a proper farewell than Yakuza 6. In 6 the main focus was only the orphanage, while important, it's not the only thing in Kiryu's life. Not to mention forming a bond with whole new family in Hiroshima instead of farewell to the people who he has known for many years like Akiyama, Saejima, Majima, Sayama, hell, i would even say Yuki and Koyuki formed bond with Kiryu deeper and far earlier than Hirose family. Whatever the faith he will have at the end of the game, THIS IS THE PROPER SEND OFF.

I discovered Yakuza 2 years ago. I had 5 USD left in my wallet and Yakuza 0 was 4.99 $. There were other games for the same price (Mad Max, which I bought a few weeks ago and stopped after 3 hours 😅) and I kept watching reviews and comments of people. I was intrigued by how a game from Japan, non-triple A, in which a blue/red aura appeared in fights (Brawler/Rush, that I did not know about yet). It made me hesitate. Little did I know, this was so far from being the strangest thing in this game. I finally, reluctantly bought Yakuza 0. Guys, I finished the game the next day. As soon as I reached the scene with the three Dojima lieutenants waiting at Tojo HQ, I knew this was THE game. I begged my mom for 20 USD (I am still a law student) and bought Yakuza 1 for 5 USD, Yakuza 2 for 10. I finished both less than a week later. Then I wanted to buy 3 4 5 and could not go ask money again. Then I remembered the casino in the purgatory, where I played blackjack for the first time in my life. I had a 10 USD. I went to a real casino next to my place and played blackjack. I won above 50 USD (I also played roulette) and as soon as I came out of the casino, I bought 50 USD PSN card 😂 I bought the Yaluza Remaster Collection for I believe 12 USD. I finished all in a week. Yakuza 6 was not on sale, it was the oruginal 20 USD. I still bought it as I could not wait. 3 days later it went from 20 to 7 USD 😅 I had 18 USD left and Yakuza 7 was not on sale and was 60 USD. I had played Yakuza 0 to 6 in maybe 3 weeks. The next day, Yakuza 7 went on sale. Went back to the casino, got lucky, bought the hero edition for 50 USD 😂 No regrets. Best game ever. Yakuza without Kiryu is like God of War without Kratos. RGG will keep him for monetary reasons.

Not to say Yong is a bad VA but he doesn't sound natural in the role when compare to just Greg Chun as Nanba & Bill Farmer as Date in this trailer alone. It doesn't help that YongYea went on that twitter blocking spree against his critics both constructive & toxic, showing he cannot take criticism. If the idea to choose a younger VA for Kiryu, ProZD, Aleks Le, & Alejandro Saab would have been better choices.

It’s weird, Komaki and Jo Amon both made their last appearances in FOTNS, so it was actually debatable whether they were even in the Yakuzaverse anymore. Jo may still be actually dead after being killed in that game, but apparently Komaki is back, meaning either they make some nonspecific elusion to him traveling the world and beyond, or it outright isn’t canon and Jo wasn’t killed.

Kiryu's mission In Hawaii to find Akane Kishida and hand her to the Daidoji Faction is not running smoothly, it's because Kiryu is downed when he is with Ichiban and Chitose when they were fighting against the Yamai Syndicate, It's because Yamai finds out that Kiryu Kazuma is alive which caused him and his men decided to kill Kiryu, after the battle Kiryu is taken to the hospital and fly back to Japan, but i am pretty sure the Daidoji Faction are not taking kindly of this for abandoning his mission and flying back to Japan. If Kiryu is back in Japan and finds out he is alive it will cause a great scandal for Citizen Democratic party Politicians affiliated with The Daidoji Faction. The Daidoji Faction is not happy about this news, 2:39-2:41 Kiryu is being held at gunpoint when one of the Daidoji Agent says "You Swore it once now swear it again!!" which means one of the agents is not very happy that Kiryu is back in Japan for just doing his bucket list by reuniting his previous allies &friends, and because the Daidoji Faction are aware of Kiryu's action who's always breaking the rules of the Daidoji Faction are made of to obey. Hanawa even said to Kiryu in Yakuza Gaiden once Kiryu's mission is complete the Daidoji Faction will give rewards to those who complete their mission Hanawa gives Kiryu a relaxing day off vacation to any location that Kiryu wants to except Hanawa won't allow Kiryu to visit Okinawa and Kamurocho respectively it's because this location is the only place where his friends and allies live and there is a risk they will know Kiryu is alive if Kiryu visiting this certain places. And now in Yakuza 8, Kiryu is violating certain rules that the Daidoji Faction made by Flying back to Japan to reunite with his former friends and allies to do bucket list and visiting Kamurocho and now the Daidoji Faction is in Thin Ice because of that and not happy about it they fear if they find out Kiryu is alive it will cause a great scandal so they need to Kill Kiryu to prevent that.

Ill leave it at that..." so yea bro Mine really can be brought back to main continuity. I'm so glad we're finally having a Komaki send off, like yeah, he was never a part of or involved with the main story in the games but, the point is that he's Kiryu's master (and Majima's to some extent) without him we wouldn't have the tiger drop or the Komaki knockback, hell some moves are named after him lol.

I'm starting to think it's the longest game in the series because that's how long it's going to take to tell this story. I keep forgetting it's not just a Ichiban game but also Kiryu's final game. I'd be lying if I'm not equally as interested in the future past Infinite Wealth especially with regards to the Judgment cast, Akame, Hanawa, the Daidoji and their new recruits.

Man, it's like a homecoming. While I'm happy that our dragon can finally rest now, I'm kinda skeptical and wonder why RGG decided to give this much info. The worst case scenario I can think of is that the main story is weak and they have to pour this emotional & nostalgia bait for us but I really hope that's not the case here.

I doubt it, elaborating mostly on Kiryu's role in the story is pretty natural given Gaiden's ending. I don't think there's much for the marketing to gain from spoiling parts of Ichi's story, as we already know the hooks. (he's trying to find his mom, he makes new friends, he meets a man who reminds him of masato, etc) It's also pretty clear these parts of the story are substories and/or less plot-relevant bits for the main story so "spoiling" them makes more sense. As for why there's _so much_ main story cutscene reveal, it's probably because Infinite Wealth is poised to be exceptionally long like Yakuza 7. And unlike Yakuza 7, it likely won't need to spend as much time on small, semi-episodic stories to introduce us to new party members and do other plot setup work, so besides the size it will probably be using that size more efficiently thanks to us already knowing most of the cast
