This video shares the best 2 shoulder stretches for all levels, from beginner to advanced. Thinking about stretching like strength training and using compound positions that target a pattern of movement is much more effective. The hanging cobra covers shoulder flexion and thoracic extension while the German hang covers shoulder extension. Unless you have specific flexibility goals like the bridge, these two will have you covered. Try hanging for 30-60s and perform 2-3 sets. They could be used as an ideal upper body cool-down or as part of your daily flexibility.

Really like this concept of compound stretches ..never really thought about it 😅. I hope you jeep posting videos on this topic. Would you say these two cover all the upper body main needs like in the way the bench press and row do in strength?

I love hanging, but any stretch resembling the cobra or upward dog just hurts my lower back and doesn't give any stretching sensation at all.

@@jonahcarlisle9572 yup when I hold it either parallel to my chest, or overhead. It's my side and rear deltoid in particular and then it'll spasm for a bit upon me putting my arm back down

Isn't German hang basically the endpoint of skin the cat? Or is it harder to get more flexible in that position?

Either doorframe pull up bar (use a wedge rather than clip for weak doorframes) or find your ceiling joists and put anchors into them. Only issue with the doorframe is that if you’re tall, it’s not going to work

I'm just honest, injuries happen. When you push what your body can handle, there is always a risk. Professional sports teams with the best physios, coaches etc still get injuries
