A beautiful song that was written by a magnificent, but self-destructive talent. What is so striking is the underlying melancholia of Shane's delivery. He sings about a state of grace that he could never achieve. Regardless of that, it has stood the test of time. Good luck to him.

This song came out when my family was living for a number of years in Bangkok. The kids were very young, one was born there. Our hearts broke when we had to leave. There is a beautiful melancholy to the song. Both my wife and I are deeply moved by it. The song represents a dear and wonderful time in our lives that was strange and so beautiful to us Canadians.

Right on. This song makes me think of a place I used to live. And I only ever heard the song after I'd left the place and my old life, my old friends, the great times I had, the chances I missed, the people I met and the things I did and saw. And this song brings back all of it and frames the good and the bad in a golden warm light of bittersweet happiness.
