This twist really doesn't make sense given we saw Lumpus and Slinkman as kids attending Camp Kidney in 1 episode, but then again in another episode we saw Lumpus hiring Slinkman when the camp 1st opened, and in yet another episode Lumpus talked about how he's related to The Big Bean and inherited Camp Kidney so I guess this show isn't known for having a strong continuity.

so despite just now seeing this, I gotta admit. I didn't KNOW this was the shows ending when I saw it. I honestly thought it was.. Just another episode. And that more would come after it. Huge CL fan here. If you think the twist was mind-blowingly disturbing on its own, it's even worse when you take into account that there's a lot of, admittedly contradicting, evidence that points to Lumpus being a "Scoutmaster" before the show began. Meaning that he somehow managed to pass off as a Scoutmaster for YEARS... maye he is a genius, after all.

@@jessetorres8738 I think the show follows negative continuity, where almost nothing sticks and basically anything can happen. Meriwether Williams, the story editor for Camp Lazlo, was the story editor for seasons 1-3 of SpongeBob SquarePants, a show that uses negative continuity very frequently.

@mohamed zayan Seems to me that not having to stick to continuity allows for far greater creative freedom, something very important in a kids show. Look up the episode "1 + 1 = Ed" from Ed, Edd n Eddy, they literally break the universe and it's fantastic.

@@jessetorres8738 I mean, theoretically, all those things could have still happened. He went to the camp with Slinkman, hired him on later, *owns* the camp, which is why he can hire people, and maybe he was a councilor *before* he inherited the camp, and, upon realizing he preferred being the councilor, tied up and hid the real councilor, and Slinkman is his stomholmed accomplice. It's convoluted, but it *can* all fit together.

@@jessetorres8738 I’m not saying that this twist is the most clever thing or anything, but he and Slinkman being there as kids could have been what made him want to impersonate a counselor in the first place. Also, if he was an imposter, he could have merely tricked Slinkman into thinking he was a legitimate hire with Slinkman having no idea that the guy wasn’t actually a worker. Okay so I rewatched the show before this recently and I had seen the ending before. What stood out to me, is there is one episode where lumpis is tricked into dressing in a tootoo and dancing in front of the camp entrance when lazlo accidentally convinces the camp he can see the future. My best friend and I watched this show almost from day one. At one point I mentioned how bad of a scout master he was and as a joke I said "he probably killed the real leader and took his place" and continued with that conspiracy the entire run time. I used to love Camp Lazlo as a kid. And when I found reruns on TV and recorded the series on my DVR and watched them for old times sake. As for the the show's finale I thought it was pretty bad. I know Camp Lazlo didn't have a proper introduction episode, but come on the show could have ended better than what we got. I do like the twist that Lumpus was not a real scoutmaster though. Maybe the writers could have made a two-parter episode finale, like they did with Where's Lazlo, and have the twist intertwined with a last day of camp type of story.

This finale gets weirder considering in other episodes it is shown that Lumpus is recogbized as a Scoutmaster even by the top authorities of the Kidney Scouts. Also that he basically owns the camp as his grandfather inherit it because the original owner died and Lumpus grandfather being the nurse of the camp ended up becomung the new owner as nobody wanted the camp (also considering that Lumpus grandfather being now the owner essentially begab to steal stuff from campers and paint it as him confiscating stuff, which was the topic of an episode.) So its weird that although Lumpus is a certified scoutmaster and is essentially the owner of the camp, that he went all the lenght to do this. Then again he has been shown to be extremely unstable, and to be in love with the Scoutmaster at the ither side of the lake who watches over the female Scouts.

Honestly if Slinkman was there it would probably be a more tragic ending. I wouldn't say Slinkman was in on it just because he had a lot of respect for Lumpus as a Scoutmaster. If you really think about it, Slinkman wasn't present after the beatdown so maybe Lumpus beat Slinkman to death or into a coma for nearly exposing his secret identity by taking them to town and the painting clothes idea was probably used as an excuse to keep people from questioning where is Slinkman.
