Huge CL fan here. If you think the twist was mind-blowingly disturbing on its own, it's even worse when you take into account that there's a lot of, admittedly contradicting, evidence that points to Lumpus being a "Scoutmaster" before the show began. This was and still is one of my favorite shows. The ending was so weird to me because Lumpus and Slinkman both reminisced on events that took place decades ago, flashbacks in the 1970s.

Planet Sheen just didn't make any sense. Sheen is the type of character that's good as a background character but not a good main character. He worked off of his friends Carl and Jimmy, which made their dynamic work. Also, why didn't they make another season of Jimmy Neutron!? Like come ON!!

What's weird about the ending revelation... we've seen the head of the camps, the Drill Sargant camp counselor, interact with Lumpus like he is the Scoutmaster. Meaning he managed to fool the overly strict, by the rules, no nonsense Head Camp Counselor for years.
@hiddendesire30762 жыл бұрын
Well, Hoo-hah was in charge of other more prestigious locations and Lumpus had hijacked the papers that would’ve declared him unfit for further employment as a scoutmaster.
@franciscorafaelmontielpale78542 жыл бұрын
This finale gets weirder considering in other episodes it is shown that Lumpus is recogbized as a Scoutmaster even by the top authorities of the Kidney Scouts. Also that he basically owns the camp as his grandfather inherit it because the original owner died and Lumpus grandfather being the nurse of the camp ended up becomung the new owner as nobody wanted the camp (also considering that Lumpus grandfather being now the owner essentially begab to steal stuff from campers and paint it as him confiscating stuff, which was the topic of an episode.) So its weird that although Lumpus is a certified scoutmaster and is essentially the owner of the camp, that he went all the lenght to do this. Then again he has been shown to be extremely unstable, and to be in love with the Scoutmaster at the ither side of the lake who watches over the female Scouts.

Honestly this sort of ending tracks for a show of this type. It’s not a hard continuity, it’s not an ongoing story…it’s just a weird and silly show about talking animals, and they thought of the most absurdist ending they could think of. Ok, I still got one question though. How does Slinkman play into Lumpus being a fake Scoutmaster? Like, was he secretly in on this, or was he just as surprised as everyone else considering how many years this must have gone on for? I believe it’s more the later, but what are your guy’s thoughts?
@UmbraBeatss3 жыл бұрын
Honestly if Slinkman was there it would probably be a more tragic ending. I wouldn't say Slinkman was in on it just because he had a lot of respect for Lumpus as a Scoutmaster. If you really think about it, Slinkman wasn't present after the beatdown so maybe Lumpus beat Slinkman to death or into a coma for nearly exposing his secret identity by taking them to town and the painting clothes idea was probably used as an excuse to keep people from questioning where is Slinkman.

Fun fact, I originally apparently didn't see the finale when it aired either, watching it I think a few years after but only catching the last minute or two. I knew nothing about the painted on clothes, just that for some reason everyone was naked and Lumpus turning out to not be a regular horrible at his job adult but a deranged maniac(who is also horrible at his job). It's always felt a little unreal of an ending and seeing the plot of the rest of the episode doesn't really help that feeling.

It may be a placebo effect because it's been so many years, but reading this I had something similar happening to me, but instead of the last minutes it was more of a few seconds. I saw everyone naked and then they left. I was like, damn I missed an episode, and a weird one at that.

It always confused me because we had an episode where Slinkman talks with Lumpus about a promise they made years ago and we get to see Lumpus at the camp while it was being built. Also, the fact that Lumpus's boss seems to have known him for a while. And we also know that Lumpus dreamt of entering some secret society(I think it was for campmasters). So yeah, doesn't make much sense.

One of my favorites. My mind was blown when I first saw this episode, and it left me with more questions than answers. I think Filburt also makes a pseudo cameo appearance in the show. One of the members of the grand legume council was blue, wore dark shades, and appeared to have a hunchback, probably from the cloak hiding his shell. He of course was older in appearance as well. I think it's the same voice for the character as well. "These pancakes are terrible." And I just remembered his name out of nowhere because I haven't watched the show since I was a kid.

To explain the rain not affecting their painted clothes plothole: There is an underlying theory that I have that without the distraction of the time travelers in the initial timeline, Lumpus started off the advancement of their civilization immediately, to the point that they wouldn’t have been affected by weather with their advanced technology. In this timeline, now that they were interrupted by the time travelers, the rain set in before they could begin any meaningful advancement. Or because it’s just a cartoon 🤪
