One of the big things I don't like about hardcore Marvel fans is trying to tell DC this is how they should make comics or movies or TV shows but I love the darker stories in DC comics and movies and old animated shows. I love your video I do you didn't seem like most Marvel fans that just complain about DC comics movies and TV shows just for not being like Marvel I respect your criticism.

“Faith, Alfred. Faith.” I love Batfleck’s character arc from Batman vs Superman to Justice League. In BvS, he was broken, hateful, and alone. But, Superman’s sacrifice showed him that there’s still good in the world. In Justice League, he’s rejuvenated and enjoys the company of others. He believes in the team, the people around him, he cares for all of them. The final scene with Bruce standing outside, smiling and looking at the sunset, that was brilliant. He knew his parents were proud of him, and he finally found peace.

You know alot of People hook up Wonder Woman and Batman but to me Diana would be the sister he never had and he doted on her. While Superman was the Brother he never had, sure they disagreed a lot on procedure but in the end they had each others backs. I think that in making the Bat family so large they filled up the spot that the Justice League have in Bruce's heart which is why in modern comics he tends come off as cold to them.
@TheRealSlimAnus
@TheRealSlimAnus 3 жыл бұрын
His character arc has dumb inconsistent flaws, still. We're told he made a promise to Superman's grave. Yet, not only have we've never seen it but throughout the movie. We never see that side of his character, instead we get a stoic person who rather looks to be "making the hard choice" of possibly bringing back the man whom could destroy the world. He had a nightmare of him, after all. Instead, only time we really see his emotions towards Clark is when he says "Clark, no" which is forced as fuck.
@abhinavaditya9433
@abhinavaditya9433 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheRealSlimAnus Spot on. I liked ZSJL. But the character flaws in Batman and Superman are still persistent. Especially considering that both Bats and Supes barely had any good scenes, dialogues in BvS. We just have to assume that these two in Zack's universe are different interpretations which imo miss the point. However, I'm happy with the work he did on Flash and Cyborg in this film.

I mean, I guess. It means that if movie producers invest in letting directors have this kind of freedom in Streaming platforms, we can see this kind of stuff a lot more. But it doesn’t really change it for the cinema industry at all. This movie would 100% not work on cinemas (not in this 4hour state and especially not in 2017) for many reasons. I am glad he got to show his wet dream movie. It was truly Snyder’s masterpiece and I’d argue his peak as a director (which is a great feat ).

Ah it's not really a big deal, pretty easy to smooth over any minor continuity errors and such if they decide to. Like until 1985 DC never had the same kind of cohesive universe that Marvel was doing. Justice League wouldn't be in continuity with Detective Comics. The Brave and The Bold would just grab characters from wherever. My point is that the DC universe is cobbled together (that's not a negative) whereas the Marvel universe from 1961 to about 1967 was under a single creative vision that laid its foundations. It's entirely appropriate to both companies.

I've heard that argument, but to me it still feels like a fundamental misunderstanding of the character's psychology and motivations. Superman doesn't start off stoic then become warm and hopeful. The powerful spirit of altruism, kindness and optimism is his foundation. If anything, it makes more sense for him to start a bit naive then struggle to maintain his heart as he becomes seasoned, faces more trying conflicts, and is weighed down by the burden of his duty to the world. IMO, Snyder's intended arc for Superman is an inversion of how the truest version of the character organically develops. Granted, creators are entitled to put a spin on the character, but I think that sort of thing works best when it's acknowledged and emphasized that it is, in fact, a twist.

The technical aspects of the movie are better then joss's version, they are more coherent with snyders vision of this universe, although the soundtrack is kinda off sometimes. But when you compare both versions it's more of a matter of how much time you wanna waste, both movies are bad, there was no way Snyder cut could have just been good, the movie was snyders from the beginning, joss only had 6 months to "fix" it and still did include scenes that did in fact improve the movie but some of the other creative choices didn't pan out well. I think that the Snyder cut would have been a good place to rebuild the DCEU from. Most of the major DC heroes including Superman and Batman have finally developed their familiar comic book characteristics and that was the point of what standalone films such as Aquaman and Shazam were trying to accomplish. Superman is finally a hopeful savior of humanity and Batman is the skilled and disciplined detective and military strategist redeemed from his cynicism and murderous mindset in the previous film, which is exactly what comic book purists were waiting for.

This was the only superhero movie that has brought me on the verge of tears. Cyborg's storyline was A+ and it got me SO emotionally invested in the character. I like the marvel movies, but I don't believe that I've seen a character arc quite like his in a superhero movie. It was so relatable and so inspiring when he moved past the tragedy of his life. Pacing issues aside, well worth the watch for that strong arc.

Zack really understood DC, gave a powerful emotional foundation for the characters to understand each other. Outcasts with exceptional abilities trying to stand up for what's right and what they believe in no matter what. They've always felt that they alone must bear the burden for the insurmountable challenge at hand but now they can do so together and that's what eventually comes to unite them. DC is epic and this movie is a modern day epic. Its not a typical action popcorn flick though imo it does that incredibly well as anyone would say about Zack Snyder's work. I was in awe of how much this movie cared about its plot and characters and that made me feel invested in it all in return. Sure it was long, I took a short break. Sure it could've been maybe 30mins shorter imo but I don't regret a single minute of the movie I've seen. This movie on top of it all was a win for the film maker and the fans, that's all I truly care about.

As both a MCU fan as well as one who grew up with DC comics, I absolutely agree. Snyder treated these characters like mythology. They were shot, framed, and presented to us like GODS. The glory of the slo motion scenes double down on that. MCU feels more like the type of movies you would watch with your family, eating popcorn and enjoying yourself. It's certainly not bad, it's definitely great at what it does. It's just different.

Listen, i actually like the Snyder Verse (Batman v Superman Ultimate Edition is great, as is the Snyder Cut), but it is absolutely wrong to say Snyder understands the characters. I'm sorry but this is something people who do not read the comics think. Superman isn't a brooding character, he's literally the most hopeful and optimistic person. Superman is not a hero because he has powers and good parents, Superman is a hero because Clark Kent is a fundamentally good person. THAT is the whole point. Superman is the DC counterpart to Captain America, that's why Marvel made Captain America in the first place. Was Winter Soldier a serious film? Yes. But did it make Cap a brooding dark character? No. He was the optimistic hero who still held his own in face of the problems. This is exactly who Superman is. If you read Superman: Rebirth in DC comics you will see that. To add to hope and optimism, Superman isn't dumb enough to fight a superpowered villain in the middle of the city. Superman would have flown into the middle of the Pacific Ocean or into an empty field to fight Zod. He would never fight Zod where millions of civilians could be hurt. This was the problem with Man of Steel. Is it a good movie? Yes. Is Cavill a good Superman? Yes. Is the writing and tone right? Absolutely not. Cavill could be light years better than the current Superman we have on the CW, and yet the Superman & Lois show is EVERYTHING that the Snyderverse Superman fails to be.

@@Iffmeister couldn't agree more, bro! I don't wanna a faithful comics adaptation, I just wanna see good stories with my favorites characters. MoS is not a good story, DEFINITELY BVS is not a good story. Both movies are giants messes. I think Snyder get that and try to made a correction in Justice League. Obviously WB is guilt too, most of all about 2017 cut. That was embarrassing... It was them that wanna DC movies to be more like Marvel movies. DCEU could be about mythology, but with cohesion, you know? When the critics said that it would be better to have solo movies about the heroes before release Justice League, it's because that would build a more cohesive universe. BvS tried to be A LOT OF MOVIES IN ONE, and that was a BIG MISTAKE. There's no story in BvS, it sound like a big ad for future movies. What mythology did BvS tell us?

@@Iffmeister - As someone who's read hundreds upon hundreds of Superman comics over the course of the last eight years or so and considers him my favorite character of all time, I couldn't disagree with you more. Superman is optimistic and hopeful, yes-but to insist that he never broods or doubts himself shows a fundamental misunderstanding of not just who he is, but what he is, both to himself and others. Clark (which is who he identifies as and it's important to never forget that; that he's human on the inside, not a perfect being) derives his hope from the people in his life. From Lois, his parents, his coworkers, the people of Metropolis, the Justice League, etc. His hope isn't self-sustaining. It's his support system. He's said it several times in the comics that it's others who inspire him, which is what enables him to inspire them in turn. The reason it's important that Superman experiences doubt is that it keeps him grounded and prevents him from becoming self-righteous. From imposing his will on others because he thinks his way is objectively the right way. Clark understands that might doesn't make right. That he must never lose sight of what is in humanity's best interest. Because once he does that, he loses touch with that human core that is the boy that Jonathan and Martha Kent raised and becomes this "other" who sees himself as above ordinary people. What makes Clark Kent Superman is that he doesn't think that way. He's humble, compassionate, and considerate. To be considerate, you have to take your actions into consideration. You have to consider what's the best thing for everyone. You don't just assert it. You ask yourself. If he didn't ask himself, what we'd end up with is the Injustice version of Superman. And that, my friend, is one of the most inaccurate, disrespectful versions of the character and the one I dislike the most. Clark isn't brooding. He's introspective. He's considerate. Yes, he has moments where he broods, but that's accurate to the comics. There are so many where he's brooding in orbit or over Metropolis or on a rooftop. This is because he does have a human heart and a heart is a heavy thing. Heavier than anything Superman could lift with his hands. Think about it. Superman saves people on a regular basis. We see it ourselves in BvS; that montage of him rescuing people daily. But if you're saving a life, that means you're facing down the horrible things that put those lives in peril. You're facing the darkest the world has to offer. Do you think doctors smile and kid around while they're saving lives and treating the ill? Do you think they feel chipper when they did everything they could, but it just wasn't enough? That's Superman. And if he's donning the cape, it's because it's a job for Superman. If it's a job for Superman, it must be serious. But what about when he isn't being Superman? Are you considering the moments where he's just Clark Kent? Where he's being his true self and not face-to-face with life-or-death situations? Because that's where you see who he is and what his core values are. But sadly, people overlook Clark and by doing that, you overlook Superman. You can't have one without the other. As Clark, we see him smiling and happy with his loved ones. With his mom and Lois. He smiles as he walks among the people on the ferry to Gotham. He positively beams when he comes home to Martha or Lois. His face lights up when he takes flight for the first time. He smiles when Lois welcomes him to the Planet; it's literally the closing shot of Man of Steel. He smiles at the parent whose child he just saved from a burning building as he sets her down safely. And he smiles to Lois once again when he's made peace with his place on Earth and decided that this world is worth dying for; when he sacrifices himself (something he's done numerous times throughout these films; when he turned himself over to the military and then to Zod in Man of Steel, for example, because it was the right thing to do; he sacrificed himself when he lifted the bus out of the water, saved the men on the oil rig, stood up for the waitress, saved Lois when she was wounded, all while knowing the risk it posed to him by exposing his nature to those around him-something lifted directly out of Superman: Birthright) to save the world. In those moments, he is where he wants to be. He is who he wants to be. He's with the people who mean the world to him. Who are his world. And in the end, he realized that this is his world. The core of Superman's beliefs and principles is love. He uses his powers to help people because he can. He has no obligation to us, but he helps us anyway. Why? What compels him to pull us out of fires we often caused? What drives him to put his own life on the line in service of people who either see him as some angelic figure or something to be hated and feared, when all he wants is to belong? It's the fact that he cares. He didn't have to save his bully from the sinking bus. He didn't have to come to the waitress's defense. He didn't have to take a leap of faith on our behalf. He didn't have to pursue the Batman story because "good people were living in fear." But he cares about those people. He cares about his adopted homeworld. He loves. This is something he grapples with in "For Tomorrow" and Pastor Daniel Leone (who is included in MoS and BvS) helps him come to that conclusion. "Why, then... if not out of love?" he asks him. In the climactic moment, when he's about to charge at Doomsday, Lois tries to stop him. But his last words to her-and last words, period, as far as he knows-are, "This is my world. You are my world." This is after saying that his world doesn't exist anymore and that no one stays good in this world. After Luthor pushed him to his limits to prove that his goodness was a lie. That he could be broken. But he proved to himself that he's stronger than that when he redeemed Batman, rather than killing him to save his mother. He showed Bruce that "men are still good." That's growth. That's character development. That's humanity on all sides. We're not supposed to agree with their earlier statements. We're supposed to root for them to overcome and become the best versions of themselves. But they can't do that if they're already the best from the start. When Clark tells Lois that she's his world, he's telling us that he loves the world. In spite of everything, he still cares. Remember in MoS, when Martha told Clark to pretend that the world was an island, out in the ocean? To swim to it? He went to her. He considered his mother his world. In BvS, during his period of doubt following the loss Luthor inflicted on him, his vision of his father says that Martha was his world. Again, we learn through this metaphor that the world represents what he loves. And that's Superman. He's just a guy who does what he does out of love. It sounds sappy, but it's true. It's canon. He wouldn't be Superman if he acted out of anything other than his care for others. How could he lay down his life for a world he didn't love? He literally died for it. And you know what makes this the most meaningful, impactful adaptation of the Superman from the comics? The fact that it was all his choice. It's who he is. Jor-El sent him to Earth so that he could make his own destiny; a life other than what their society had intended. Jonathan Kent encouraged him to find out what kind of person he wanted to be. And Martha told him to be who he wants to be. Who he is. In Zack Snyder's Justice League, we get the culmination of this when the voices of his fathers, Jonathan Kent and Jor-El, speak to him. "Your heart was tested." "I know it's been hard, Clark." "But you gave hope to their world." "You need to show them who you are." "Love them, Kal. The way we loved you." "Fly, son. It's time." Zack Snyder had a plan from the beginning. Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and Justice League were all chapters in his storyline, not just individual stories. And he also had two Justice League sequels planned out that would complete Superman's arc and transform him into the ideal we all recognize him as. But that character arc means nothing if he's already at his best from the very start. He had to be tested. He had to live those experiences. He had to find who he was. He wasn't just born Superman. He had to become Superman. And, for the most part, we got that. But because so many were impatient and insisted that their view of the character is right and everything else is wrong, we may never get to see the full realization of Superman at his purest. Again, I've read hundreds of Superman comics. He's been my favorite character for a long time now and I don't see that ever changing. I've studied him, his relationships, his motives, his strengths, his weaknesses, and the little intricacies that set him apart from other superheroes. With all of that put into perspective, what Zack Snyder brought us has been the single most comic-accurate version of Clark Kent to ever grace the big screen. If you don't like it, that's fine. But don't go telling Superman fans that he's not true to the source material. If you want me to cite specific sources, I'll even sort through my collection and do just that. I'm always happy to recommend more Superman comics.

Zack snyder, is by far the most purest heart filled person in the world, not just as a person but as a director as well. He understands the mythology of the DC universe, its characters and he stays true to them, while also throwing in his own mythology into the characters as well, though he gives the characters as much respect as they should get as characters to make them feel more fledged out as actual people. He's a person who respects franchise material and he stays 100% true to his own work, weather it's good or bad, it does matter. This is his vision and he stays true to that. And unlike, Josh Weedon, he doesn't abuse or be a total ass to the actors playing the characters in his film, like how Weedon was with Ray Fisher (seriously man best of luck to him), he respects the actors for who they truly are as well, like with the characters from the film that they are playing out, they are humans and shouldn't be butchered and disrespected like with how they were with the 2017 release. This film is, like you said, 100% true to itself and was made with a lot of heart. Thank you, Zack Snyder. At least 90-95% of it since I know Zack changed a little bit of stuff overtime as well.

the film didnt make me cry, but your video did. great stuff, sir! as always, when it comes to DC, its about heroes doing the right thing, in the end. and about broken people finding help. you go, Zack. you go, Snyderverse. you go, all good hearted people involved with DC in any way.

The scene where he started running faster than time at the end got me really emotional. Even now, as I see it. Both because of how astonishing it looks, and because it reflected his arc and the conversation with his father. I really felt like this was now or never, and I rooted for him - and not in the casual "I hope the hero wins, though I know they will win" kind of way. The way that whole sequence was visualised was unlike anything I have ever seen. Amazing.

I personally think whatever tragic things happened with zack snyder in one way led people to appreciate his vision his style and his interpretation of DC charcters

12:30 I literally cried on snyders words about cyborgs struggles I mean who would want to be a part machine and be discriminated just because he's half-man half-machine, this is the best words I have ever heard in my entire life, my father past away in 2016 feb 16 and I was devastated back then.

Especially considering Cyborg had some very good reasons to be angry and brooding. If he was white, that probably wouldn't have been a problem. Johns really needs to realize that making some good comic book stories doesn't mean he's meant to produce movies or TV shows.

Wow really? It's way too fucking late for Batman. The only reason he was regarded as a hero was his unwavering morality. Dudes been killing left and right this version. He isnt a hero in this movie and he never will be after his deeds

Its really sad that people can't or won't understand what snyder was trying to do with batman's reintroduction or Rebirth story along side wonder woman's rebirth as well, I aint hating others but people complaining about comic book accuracy should either just stick to reading comics or wait for the movie characters to grow into the comic book ones

I think audiences will appreciate his 3 DCEU films as time goes on or when we hit peak superhero genre fatigue (we're nearly there in my opinion). None of them are perfect but they are most definitely an artist's vision. Some of the the MCU's films are clearly not and just an entertaining product.

9:21: "Was that Zack Snyder´s plan". Yes, it was. In time, as you even grow to see the beauty of the emotional ride these characters have in the first two movies, that it is precisely that journey into fear, that makes them rise together so specially in Justice League. It was a narrative choice that had many costs, but it makes it an amazing trilogy.

In so many ways you cannot seperate an artist an their work. Usually people say that as a negative but I mean that only as a compliment for Snyder. I know he's a passionate guy, and more importantly he seems very down to Earth and I know he loves film making, more than most. Despite not liking his work I appreciate him as a person

I watched the first half of this movie on my own and the parts developing Cyborg and his Father really hit close to home. And when I stopped for a break, my dad actually asked me if I wanted to watch “This new version of that movie you’ve been talking about” and I got watch Cyborg save his Father alongside my own Father. When his Dad said something to the effect of “you came back” and Cyborg said “you’re my dad” I don’t know, it just hit us both pretty hard. Snyder’s theme of “you’re never alone” is something I needed to experience. The budding hope that’s built throughout this movie genuinely encouraged me to reconnect with friends and family, and I’m so happy to hear that others have found meaning in this movie as well. I waited years for it, and it did not disappoint at all.
