"why did people believe there was a Snydercut?" Well, BvS had a directors cut, Suicide Squad had a directors cut, both David Ayer and Jared Leto were very vocal about how much Warner interfered with Squad to imitate marvel, so.... Take your pick

@@arielbadw1368 Actually, we still don't have "David Ayer's Suicide Squad" (or Suicide Squad: The Director's Cut); WB released an Extended Cut for SS -- about 13-15 mins of new footage-- most of which were minor cuts but still improved the movie by a few notches. Batman v Superman Director's Cut is the "Ultimate Edition" version released on home-media, runtime 183 mins. And here's a shocker: WB hadn't bothered to see Snyder's JL. They'd already decided they wanted him off the project, which was why actually they'd hired Whedon to "supervise" new rewrites. Once Snyder left, JW was given full control ("pickup reshoots" that lasted nearly 3 months; they were practically chasing that Nov 17 release by then) & he basically "revamped" the movie. In one of the "Exclusives" leading up to ZSJL, some unnamed WB executive opened up that there was this long awkward silence after Whedon's JL was finally screened; no one wanted to admit that Josstice was straight trash. Nolan was, in fact, indirectly reported to have advised everyone close to Snyder to never let him see JossL.

I don't get this notion that Zack's characterization of Superman wasn't like the comics. Yes, it absolutely was. Has none of these people ever read John Byrne's Man of Steel run which portrayed Superman as a being who is always crippled with anxiety of never being good enough, not being able to live up to his own expectations of a superhero and even at times, is distraught in the middle of a battle that he might have to leave some to die while trying to stop a villain because if he doesn't, more will die, but still feels with his own strength that he should have never had to make that choice. Superman has been dark, lonely and brooding for most of his 90s reimagination. It wasn't until the 00s did Superman finally start becoming more confident in himself and did those fears and anxiety finally start to subside. Jesus Christ, I feel like a lot of people have selective amnesia.
@keilanluke3 жыл бұрын
My response is late, but I completely agree!! Superman's troubles were executed perfectly in Zack's films. I love that he's trying to find his place among humankind, and trying to determine if he must live up to their expectations or simply his own. It's similar to the journey many people go on as they find their place in the world and decide how to structure their lives. Thanks for watching the video, and I hope you're well :)

I absolutely loves "Man of Steel" when it came out. I was like "Finally!!! A reimagining of Superman that is gritty and grounded but still maintains that epic Superman feel!". BvS tho was not however... except that Batman vs. Superman scene and that brutal and glorious Batman Warehouse fight scene. But when I heard about the extended cut/directors cut of BvS, I was curious and heard great things about it. That it was better than the theatrical cut. And honestly, it was. Tho still has problems but the added scenes gave the movie more context for me to say that BvS is somewhat a tolerable and good superhero film.

What people doesn't know is that ZS as director is fully respectful with the cast and everyone in the studio. There are reasons why none of them trashed him aside from the haters which is literally no one or your typical critiques. The fact that Nolan which is known as tons of Oscar worthy movies and the director of TDK Trilogy respect ZS that much means something. And there's also written fact of how The cast which should just stay silent or else lose their job or contact support the Hastags and ask WB to Release the Snyder Cut means ZS is a genuine person.

to be honest, not a troll here, the base plot/story if its not seen as a whole(justice league 3 part, whole vision 5 part) but just as a self contained movie, is quite simple: alien/other dimensional being comes with army, gathers resources, defences assemble, big battle, alien looses...maybe its intended that way just to leave room for amazing twists in the injustice theme, which we might still get with all this support effort. The simplistic as self contained story, was executed brilliantly...i enjoyed all of Snyder`s DC movies, Man of steel(simple ,elegant, emotional, a tad bit too dark though), BvS(Dark, gritty, story was too loose and i did not buy it, but great seeing the performances, characters and brilliant action sequences) and then this, culminating as a masterpiece in contrast... But i don`t know man,...last 2 seem rushed, and i don`t think its Snyder`s fault...captivating action, the best i have seen honestly, believabIe CGI, but i guess we all can agree that we need more self contained non generic storyes....and rushing BvS and Justice League after just one Superman movie is a bit 2 much.......now that said, bring on Justice league 2 and 3!!!:)))pretty please!!!!

I personally love the more dark and mature style of MOS and BVS. what I find lacking about so many marvel movies, especially their newer ones like spiderman homecoming, is how much comedy relief they put in there, to an extent I cant find myself emotional even when I should. I would take dark and mature over childish and light every single day, as long as the writing is good and compelling. love snyder's style
@keilanluke3 жыл бұрын
Totally agree!! I personally prefer emotion and epicness on a mythological scale over humor.
@pastordonkoh76923 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. With the exception of the Captain America Civil War and Infinity War, every time I've come out of a marvel film i've felt satisfied/exhilarated but they just don't leave a lasting impression where you're contemplating what you saw many years later. MoS is almost *8 years ago* and it continues to age like wine. I think the MCU largely plays it *super safe* to please next to everyone. They take the sitcom with laughing track approach which quickly becomes insufferable especially when emotional moments should best be left just that-emotional aren't allowed to. Cue *"But those foundations are gone. Sorry"* .
@keilanluke3 жыл бұрын
@@pastordonkoh7692 Exactly. Watched Man of Steel yesterday and gained even more value. I've seen BvS 30 times and I've loved it more with each viewing. But there are many Marvel movies (and admittedly some DC) which I don't rewatch often because they were only entertaining the first time.

@@keilanluke Totally. the only marvel movies I really liked were iron man, civil war, doctor strange and age of ultron (and thor dark world to some extent) - because they werent full of cheap comedy, but rather more mature. their latest movies just felt cheap to me, like instead of putting some comedy relief in some points in the movie they turned the whole movie to one. Zack Snyder’s Justice League was an incredible journey. Even though the universe is most likely dead at least this film trilogy will live on as one of the most intriguing stories. May that be off stage or on screen, he will forever be in my heart as one of my favorite directors and people in the film industry. I hope him and his family the best and hope people finally appreciate him as the great filmmaking artist he is. If there is one thing I learned about literature and writing is this. We live in a world dominated by entertainment, safety is the name of the game and it is the true villain of artistic expression. If you make a film or book or any piece of media that follows what’s most popular then you have already failed as an artist. That which changes, or even divides humanity is what truly matters. Even if it sucks or goes unappreciated at least it is what you wanted to show. Not what the people want but YOU the creator want. I would rather die as a poor man who shared my identity, my ideas (this being the book I’m currently working on) then live a rich lifestyle because I played towards the audiences demands.

I think what should be mandated from now on is that reviews from any critics shouldn’t be able to come out until the release date. That way ppl can actually decide for themselves plus critics don’t pay to see it anyway. Plus I love seeing the ppl on here saying so confidently that it doesn’t exist and making fun of the fans almost now so excited to see it now that it’s coming out.

I don't understand Leonard Maltin's review for BvS. Apparently his main criticism is that the movie isn't "fun" enough, which it should be, because it's a "superhero movie". Well, a good counter to his extremely bizarre statement is "when was it decided that superhero movies SHOULD be fun?" I mean, even the success of Marvel's shows like "Daredevil" and "Punisher" on Netflix (which were the best thing about Marvel imo) showed that the public likes superhero stories that are also "dark" (whatever that means), not just "fun". I'm not even a superhero person myself, and so I was interested to see more diverse offerings of the genre besides the so-called "fun" stuff. I wonder if The Matrix or something similar came out today, would these critics blast it for not being fun enough.
@qy72hund3 жыл бұрын
If I may generalize, critics that hate MoS and BvS basically claim it's a different tone and story than both the Superman cartoon and the 70s Superman movies. The movie was not what they presume is the only correct mood for a movie based on comic books. The list of actual mistakes in the writing are minor and not nearly enough, by itself, to dislike the film. Made me realize that critics are just as biased and opiniated as your average moviegoer.

After watching the Snyder cut I’d say 10% of Snyder was left, like the aqua man see is still there but really botched up, the attack on the amazons was botched up, the tunnel fight is extremely botched up, and the final fight is the worst example like the Whedon cut really really just let superman do everything while the Snyder cut legit has everyone doing something which is cool asf

Beautiful documentary! I remember the haters saying this movie didn't exist. I think about that now every time i'm streaming it on HBO Max or watching my blu-ray copy of the movie that supposedly didn't exist. Man, so much has happened since then: Ben Affleck has returned, supposedly Cavill's showing up in Black Adam, new ownership at WB with the Discovery merger (thank you David Zaslav), hopefully someday you can give us a part two talking about how the Snyderverse was restored (i'm confident it will happen).

I'm proud to say I was part of the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement from the beginning. Whether you end up liking the Snyder Cut or not, it can't be denied that it's a win for the fans, regardless. I'm someone who believes in being humble in victory, but part of me can't help but want someone to put together a supercut of all the grifters who swore up and down that the Snyder Cut didn't exist, with a little extra trolling for those few who added insult to injury by suggesting that anyone who believed the Snyder Cut existed was stupid. And they should all be heartily laughed at by J. Jonah Jameson. #RestoreTheSnyderverse
@keilanluke3 жыл бұрын
Ha! I totally hear you. The segment of my documentary that addresses the Snyder Cut deniers was fun to put together. Since this community is all about integrity and respect, I don't want to spend too much time laughing at those who were wrong. But people who trashed the idea of the Snyder Cut, and mocked those who believed in it, really irk me. I've never understood why anyone would choose to use their platform to spread negativity. I honestly think it stems from a frustration toward such a large group believing Zack's films are amazing and profound -- because they simply can't see it.
@MatthiasPowerbomb3 жыл бұрын
@@keilanluke I think that's certainly a part of it, but there's also a segment who believe that fans are toxic, and they were really invested in seeing us NOT get what we wanted. But simply by virtue of us wanting it, the Snyder Cut was bad and had to be shut down at every turn. There are a lot of access journalists in the movie and video game spheres who have an unbelievable disdain for fans. It's really sad. BUT WE WON! We win so seldom, you'd think they wouldn't be so mad, but they are. Oh well.

@@MatthiasPowerbomb Yeah, the notion that the Snyder Cut fandom is toxic is honestly ridiculous. I've seen countless journalists and articles reference the "toxicity" of this community. But I've literally been following the story of JL on social media for 4 years, and I've encountered only a few brief instances of rudeness or hate. The overwhelming majority of this community is incredibly kind, and even the cast and actors acknowledge how accepting and positive this group is.
@MatthiasPowerbomb3 жыл бұрын
@@keilanluke Indeed. Not to mention the over half a million the community has raised for suicide awareness and prevention. SHOCK HORROR! I've been in a lot of livestreams within the community, and they're accepting of everyone, even people who aren't that into Snyder's work. And they're full of testimonials from people who have contemplated suicide themselves, or lost loved ones to suicide. And the community is incredibly supportive and selfless, matching donations in superchats, offering words of love and encouragement, letting everyone know they're not alone and that suicide is never the answer. What a bunch of toxic bigots, amirite?

After myself and my oldest son went to the theaters the night Man of Steel and then BvS opened my son told me dad you were right this movie Man of Steel is so different than his favorite MCU movies and surprisingly both times he said I can’t lie dad you are right the movie was epic and he genuinely was shocked that he loved those movies. Me jumping up and down and pumping my fist might have helped as well. The one thing I knew from watching Snyder’s work was that visually and story telling he would nail it and in both cases he did. I totally understand what he was doing in BvS and it was genius, however I also knew that some people would not get it or be patient enough to wait for the next movie to explain complicated plot points. Even the Martha scene which my son said to me dad they did pull an MCU there where one minute they are killing each other and the next they are brothers and he compared it to Loki and Thor doing this which I did complain to him about. The BIG difference however is that Batman was good but the battle of the Kryptonians are unfolding before his eyes and the fact that he was existing in the seedy underbelly of Gotham’s violent world had made him bitter and confused as to why he continued if nothing was changing. When Lois showed up and told Batman that Martha was Superman’s mothers name he flashed back and it finally clicked that Superman was human in his eyes and had a mother just like he did and they both had the same name. Also Lois and Superman at some point in that scene where 1 minute Superman is in the floor and after the flashbacks he’s standing upright and telling Batman he has to go rescue his mother, it’s obvious that they had already told Batman that Luther had kidnapped his mother and would kill her if he didn’t kill Batman. And he could have easily done so at the beginning of their fight.
