Then( if they didnt kill him...IF) hed more than likely lose most of his " perks" and responsibilities. hed be heavily taxed and could even lose his " stripes" and be ostracized for YEARS. I like that line too because so much of the dialogue is so slick even in desperate situations, with for example Matt Bevilacqua saying "Sean did it on spec" even when facing his own death; here, in the midst of so many slick lines it's almost refreshing to have something said so plainly yet compellingly.

I love from 1:25-1:55 in this scene. The close-up shot of Chris's face shows him go from bewilderment to devastation, to blistering homicidal psychopathic rage. You can tell that up until the very last second he had every intention of ending her. Bonus points go to the direction of having Adrianna not even attempt to fight back as Chris is choking her to death. She was already a walking corpse and was so dead inside it would have probably been a welcomed release at that point. The most heartbreaking part of the whole show was watching her slow and painful demise.
@evangelionl0vr8572 жыл бұрын
If you watch that section closely, you can see he took a page out of James Gandolfini's book. One thing that James used to do when playing Tony is start breathing heavily to show himself getting worked up, prior to his outbursts. You can't hear it in this scene like you can with James' infamous breathing but you can see Chris' actor breathing heavier and heavier while he's going from disbelief to rage.

I remember an interview with Drea where she said that Michael was having so much trouble at first with that part of the scene because he didn't want to hurt her but Drea encouraged him to fully go at it so they could make the scene look more realistic. She said Michael was so sweet and every time they'd cut or want to do another take he'd ask her 10 times if she was OK and he was legitimately concerned he'd hurt her.

Well, the makers of Breaking Bad and Game Of Thrones both said that, in the industry, there is a term that has to be used when comparing the quality of any show. Is it "AS" or "BS"? Is it AFTER Sopranos, or BEFORE? Because they all universally agree that Sopranos is the best ever made, and changed the entire industry forever, and shows like BB or GOT wouldn't even exist if it hadn't been for The Sopranos. It's like comparing todays Chess Grandmaster with the GM from 30 years ago. It's unfair, the game has evolved, and people have figured it out now. BECAUSE of that guy, from 30 years ago. But for me, Sopranos is still the best ever, by quite a margin.

Part of the show is showing the world changes, people evolve. The younger generation could never be what Tony or his parents could be. That was from the whole thing where Tony on the first episode says he missed the golden days or whatever. The world was growing up, getting in touch with their emotions, things were actually improving, and that "life" was only causing trouble. It's based on real life things like AJ trying to kill himself etc, real mob guys had their sons commit suicide shortly before this show, drugs suddenly everywhere. The world changes. Chrissy did not have the resolve, nor should he have had. The world changes. And this show is about Tony's world, and it becomes ever darker till it goes to black, because he was not a good person. But again he was never as bad as his parents, which in his dreams his mother repersents the devil itself. She was cold as ice. And he tries to improve, his kids try to improve, never as much as they hope because it's real life, but in the end the show is actually trying to say the world is dark but it's getting lighter.

At 1:36, Michael Imperioli puts on an absolute masterclass. And when watched side by side, this scene echoes - and really seems to pay outright homage to - the "It was an abortion" scene from The Godfather Part II: the physical arrangement of the characters (mirrored), the sequence of events (a tearful confession, shock and rage, then a violent outburst as the climax), and even Imperioli's facial expressions as he goes through the emotional turmoil of processing what he's hearing from the woman he loves (the burning fury in his eyes is almost identical to that of Al Pacino). Two fantastic moments, executed to perfection by the performers, writers, and crew.
