What happens when you put a millionaire with a tax man? You get Money Incorporated, one of the finest heel tag teams of the early 90s WWF. "The Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase found the perfect partner in IRS, a man who could write off Dibiase's spending habits as business expenses. It really seemed like the gimmicks of The Million Dollar Man and IRS were made for eachother.
While Ted Dibiase was already a succesful superstar towards the end of 1991, Mike Rotunda had just made his return to the World Wrestling Federation after spending some time in WCW. Rotunda had previously worked in the WWF as part of the US Express tag team, but it was his run as Irwin R. Schyster that was more memorable. I.R.S vowed to make superstars and fans alike pay their taxes, and this money orientated gimmick definitely paired up well with The Million Dollar Man's character. With Jimmy Hart as their manager, Money Inc went on to win the WWF Tag Team titles multiple times but curiously, most of their title matches were not televised.
This video looks at the complete run of Money Inc featuring WWF taxman IRS and The Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase. Topics and matches covered include:
00:00 - Ted Dibiase and Mike Rotunda before Money Inc.
05:32 - Money Inc become Tag Team Champions
09:09 - The Legion of Doom and The Nasty Boys
10:54 - Money Inc. vs The Mega Maniacs at WrestleMania IX
13:18 - Money Inc's final matches
14:54 - The Million Dollar Corporation
- Much More!

Also, small thing to note but I love their version of the World Tag Team Titles. Much like the British Bulldogs' version which was nickel or silver and had different side plates, Money Inc. had a slightly modified version which was identical to the original design at the time, except the globe in the centre plate had a darker shade of grey-ish blue and the "World" lettering was painted in black instead of red. The Natural Disasters also held this version of the belts before it was changed back to its original familiar design during their reign.
@2126beatz
@2126beatz 3 жыл бұрын
Good spot💯. I preferred that version of the tag belts in 1992. It went back to the red "world" version in mid 1993 though. I'm not sure of the reason for this, maybe something to do with LOD. As soon as money Inc became champions in Feb 1992 the new look tag team titles were introduced.
@crownprincesebastianjohano7069
@crownprincesebastianjohano7069 Жыл бұрын
Money Inc. carried different variants of the belts for each reign: 1) First reign, Black lettering and blue globe. 2) Second reign (longest at 250+ days), Black lettering, black globe, 3) Third (and shortest) reign, Red letters, blue globe.

Mike Rotunda is super, criminally underrated and should be in the HoF. IRS was his best gimmick perhaps. And he was under-utilized even if Money Inc. was super dominant holding the Tag Team titles for 14.5 months out of the 18 months they were a team. IRS absolutely should have had the Intercontinental Championship at least once somewhere in that 91-95 run. Rotunda was a tier above some of the lame heals that held that title in-between those Bret Hart/Shawn Michaels/Razor Ramon periods. He was the real deal, a former NCAA conference champion at Syracuse who had strength, speed, agility and skill. A superb technical wrestler, probably second only to Bret Hart at the time in the WWF. Between WWF and WCW he was 6x Tag-Team champ and 3x TV Champion. He may not have been in the top tier of stars, but he as perhaps the greatest wrestler of the second tier. He was also an excellent producer. Plus his raised two excellent wrestlers in Bo Dallas Bray Wyatt.

My favourite Tag team, even above The Outsiders. Money Inc were extremely underrated. I used to dress like IRS going to work with the red braces, the leather briefcase and then that aluminium case ha ha - each case also included a brick ! after WM9 Even now we use term "Inc" as a slang term for money 28 years on....was it really that long ago?!

And now the 2010 “Beer Money” tagteam please. Essentially combining Money Inc and Stone Cold .... Rude & Storm got HUGE reactions.

Love that he mentioned how it's a bit unfair to critique matches of yesteryear, with today's standards of what a "good match" entails.

Varsity Club vs. The Road Warriors had some pretty good matches. I recommend checking out the 6 man tag between the VC & Kevin Sullivan vs. The Road Warriors & Paul Ellering
