They changed quite a bit since National Treasure came out and there is NO way that they can make an actual good sequel with their vindictive purple haired feminist men hating Tumbler land whale writers that are even worse at storytelling then a toddler playing in the backyard. We would probably get a story where Nic Cage; the caucasian male (oeh, problematic for Hollywood) gets to bumble around while his 'ma'am that don't need no man' shows him how it's done and eventually Nic get's killed off when he served the purpose of pushing up the 'stronk wahman', coz all these marxist woke zombies have the same blueprint storyline as they are a hive mind. It's just so depressing that a movie can't be made without toy selling iconography and/or a large cinematic universe. Can't emphasize that enough. Why can't it be enough to have an exciting story with good characters and a good cast
@SPFLDAngler3 жыл бұрын
Because money. With how ridiculously expensive it is to make Hollywood films, everyone involved has to make a profit on it, and the maximum amount possible. There are so many people involved in making movies and the most significant of them, the Producers, are putting their money up to get them made. They don't want to lose that money, and any way they can increase returns on their investment they will do. That's why merchandising is the most important aspect of filmmaking.. that's just the way it is. If it were possible to make twice as much as they put in on ticket sales alone, the rest wouldn't matter. But because pirating movies online is such a problem, and recently the pandemic affecting theaters, it's more important than ever before to make sure your film is guaranteed to sell ALL the merchandise and set up innumerable sequel opportunities..

Well, there has been no solid announcement for that. Writers and producers are ALWAYS saying they're "working on X" and then the project is cancelled. I mean, at one point we were supposed to get a Tetris movie. The person you're reffering to is Jerry Bruckheimer and he's saying there's gonna be a sequel since 2008... And it's true that Chris Bremner wrote a first draft of a script, but that's nothing new, there are thousands of scripts that will never be turned into movies. For now, to script has not been picked up by Disney executives. Bruckheimer is just HOPING that he gets to sell the script, but since Lone Ranger, his career at Disney kinda ended, so I doubt they would hire him back anyway.

They could definitely incorporate a national treasure escape room deal in the parks. it would be so different from all the other Disney park attractions but all the rooms being detailed enough to make you feel like you're solving a mystery. Tangentially related to the video, but: Disney's "masks" intro for the Star Wars franchise is hot garbage. It is obviously an attempt to play up the iconography, but I personally think it's a lazy failure. What resonates in Star Wars isn't the masks per se, but the characters behind them - Vader, Artoo (brought to life so well by Kenny Baker when he's literally just a metal cylinder), Threepio... Marvel did this right from the very beginning - the comic book style, highlighting moments and feats of those characters; Cap's shield (also a bit of iconography) flying at the screen. Star Wars does it...weakly at best. The masks have no action, no testament to who or what these characters are, no storytelling.

Not to sound like a republican but I wonder if today's political climate would make it more difficult to get a third one produced. Like a lot of the founding fathers were slave owners and staff. Even something that's really "woke" like Hamilton struggles with addressing this too much. IDK just thoughts.
@SamaritanPrime3 жыл бұрын
@@crystalwolcott4744 I wouldn't worry too much about that. We, as people, are complicated. The things that drive us to do noble deeds and horrible atrocities permeate every single one of us. They do not care about such surface-level things as race, gender, faith, wealth, or any of that. It is true of us now, and it was true in the back end of the 1700s. Yes, some of the Founding Fathers owned slaves while pushing the idea that all men (meaning humanity as a whole) are created equal. They were aware of the irony. These were educated, learned men, probably the best that the States could offer. If they could have built the United States without slavery as a part of it, they WOULD have, of that I'm certain. If I have it right, the question of slavery was a divisive one- the Southern States had a lot of slaves and didn't want to give that up because they'd take a massive hit if they did. At a time when these thirteen states were taking on the most powerful empire on the planet, the colonies had to stand as one, and even when the Constitution was being created, the USA was still young. This brazen experiment with representative government could still collapse, so the Founding Fathers made a REALLY hard choice and basically punted it to future generations of Americans to hammer out. They also knew what would happen if the argument over slavery continued and divided the nation as it did in their time. Thomas Jefferson, for example, warned about the Civil War when he heard about the Missouri Compromise, and that was forty years before the Civil War broke out- a war that Jefferson would not live to see. If the Founding Fathers- Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Franklin, and the rest- were to see where we are today, they'd actually be happy that slavery isn't a thing now. They'd be sad about the Civil War, and they'd be baffled about groups like Black Lives Matter, but they would be glad that America was able to do the one thing that they couldn't do. This subject matter really wouldn't work in a National Treasure movie. It needs to be its own thing. For the record, sounding like a Republican isn't a bad thing; you're just wondering about how we ought to look at our history. About the only thing wrong with that would be to take too critical of an approach, because then you look at everything through dirty, broken glasses, which skewers what you see.
@JaguarBrickFilms3 жыл бұрын
@@crystalwolcott4744 Good point. This is actually one of the reasons that I would prefer it if they never did make a third movie, because they would probably ruin it by making it woke, which would defeat the whole point of the movie.

I am Australian and I loved National Treasure, my brother saw the movie independently - and bought the DVD something he rarely does - anyway, I thought it was right up there with Indiana Jones. It travelled well across continents because it was an action/adventure tour de force, told really well. The sequel was good, too, the reason why I think there never was a 3rd movie was because it would've been extremely hard for the writers to be come up with a scenario that would fit the "National Treasure" mould. It needs to be big, bold and epic and have fantastical devices like the glasses in the first movie. And after the first two I think they ran out of ideas that they could cobble together. I thought the fourth Indiana Jones movie tried to copy "National Treasure" and failed miserably, I mean aliens - aaaarrrrggggghhhh. Even Tomb Raider tried and failed as well. I won't say no to another installment but it's gotta be wild.

This channel is a "Treasure" and I'm glad that I found it. You make some fantastic content, man! Keep crushing it!! On another note, we have "Anti-Trust Laws" on the books, but in spite of those laws, they keep allowing corporations to acquire everything around them and form monopolies. On top of that, we have these giant monopolies working together in Oligopolies to crush any forms of competition. And to make it even worse, these Oligopolies seem to be in lock-step with a large portion of our Government and we are seeing more and more Corporatism. Either way, it's NOT a very good thing to see and they need to bust them up. I'm usually against all forms of Government Intervention, but I do believe in busting up Monopolies to allow the Free Market to birth alternatives that can be competitive without smaller corporations being crushed by these behemoths..I'm actually surprised that they allowed Disney to acquire so many companies and properties. Well, I'm half surprised, as plenty members of our Government, both sides mind you, have no problems selling us out for Big Business. They'll gladly do it, because when they leave office, they'll get a nice, comfy, high paying job at one of the corporations they looked out for. They will put the screws to the very people they're supposed to be representing for stock options, fat bonuses and the occasional use of a private jet, and don't ever forget it.

ok, here's my take. "national treasure" doesn't specify America. yes, the two movies we've had have been about American treasures, but it wouldn't necessarily need to stay that way. as long as the treasure being searched for is deeply connected to the history of a specific nation, then I think it would be acceptable. Just imagine, Nicolas cage signing on as a cryptologist with a Japanese treasure hunting team to recover the three imperial regalias, just a bit out of his element as he no longer knows the most about the history involved, but having an awesome time traveling all over Japan trying to catch up with the people who stole them. Just imagine, Nicolas cage in a chase through Shibuya, carrying the legendary sword Kusanagi and looking classic cage crazy as the fashionistas look down on him and the otakus try to figure out who he's cosplaying and a few elderly citizens make comments about foreigners and a drunk businessman winks knowingly at him. then a scene of him on a train where he's looking out the window trying to process the sheer difference between the city and the countryside, drinking tea and experiencing massive culture shock as he comes to terms with the sheer variety of experiences he's had. you could include cool facts about the temples that are taken apart and rebuilt every 20 years(I think that was the number), ancient Japanese art, and so on, and it would be absolutely hilarious to have a scene where Nicolas cage goes to a pachinko parlor as a reference to those Japanese ads he did, and just keeps playing and losing money while the owners watch, initially smirking and laughing to themselves as he keeps playing, keeps betting high, and keeps losing money, but gradually getting uncomfortable as the hours pass and nicolas cage just keeps on going, to the point that the owners are trying to figure out who he is and how he has so much money to spend, only for him to stand up at closing time, say "thanks, I needed the feeling of losing something that was mine to lose for once" and then tossing them a stack of ancient Japanese coins and saying "for some reason, the machine wouldn't take these, so they're probably duds, huh?" and winking as he leaves. later it could be revealed that the owners of the pachinko parlor were the parents of one of the Japanese treasure hunters that Nicolas cage was working with, and he did it because he knew they were down on their luck or owed money or something. another film could be made where he and his friends crack the code from a Russian numbers station, setting off a race to find the lost library of Ivan the terrible, with clues in the painted walls of st. basil's cathedral, a ring buried with Ivan's son in the archangel cathedral, a stealth sequence where he sneaks into the kremlin to find some sealed documents from the soviet era, etc. you could have a scene where Nicolas cage's character and his dad are looking at the painting of Ivan and his son and his dad says something like "That's how I felt when I saw you ready to give up when we found the templar treasure. I thought I'd made you just like me." and then Nicolas cage could say something like "Ivan couldn't bring his son back. you managed to do that. also, for the record, (he then points at the dead son in the painting) the painting also shows how I felt when I gave up. can't really recommend it" and then they share a laugh. another scene that would be cool would be his techie friend recognizing the villain as ex-kgb and calling him out by name, only to have the villain be shocked and say "not even my handlers know that, how do you know my name" to which the techie friend responds "you're on all of the websites" and then lists a bunch of obvious conspiracy theory websites that you couldn't hear the names of without immediately being absolutely sure they had no credibility, things like SquatchAndBeyond.com, itsAllT.ru, etc. a later scene where the villain and his crew are sorting through the conspiracy sites to try and figure out what the good guys know and as a result, the trust between the members of the villain's once seamless and cohesive group starts breaking down due to not being able to separate what's baseless loony conspiracy theorist conjecture from what's true about their teammates to give the gag a plot-relevant payoff would also be hilarious. basically, any country with an interesting history, cool scenery, and a legendary lost treasure or even just any treasure of national significance that could be used to teach some of its history in the form of an action-adventure-style tour would work just fine for a national treasure movie. Let's be honest, that's pretty much every country. As long as the movies show the countries they take place in as full of all kinds of people worth meeting and new exciting experiences worth having, then the series could keep going for a very long time. And anyways, it's not like taking the characters to other countries would make the story any more international than it already was, most of the treasure from the first movie came from Europe, Africa, and the Mediterranean, and the second movie had them go to England. the point about not being able to easily sell toys certainly stands, but only if you think about toys designed using the same principles as the toys for starwars, marvel, or other action-figure-fodder series like those. You could easily sell books on how to create your own codes to send secret messages to your friends, antique-y spy gear equivalent toys, books of cool history facts, Lego sets, and so on. heck, have a scene in a movie that has him sword fight someone, and you could make normal action figures anyways. Video games? absolutely. stealth games and puzzle games have a lot in common, and could probably be combined without much trouble. As for inclusion in the parks, it wouldn't need to be blatant to get everyone talking about it, just set up an ARG-style treasure hunt with clues scattered around the parks so that as you visit each of the areas, you can find clues and riddles telling you where to look next. it would cost so little to do something like that, and you could even have clues that require you to ask a Disney character for info, such as asking merlin to translate a Latin phrase or explain a historical event he was there for. with all the buildings and history the Disney parks have, it would be easy enough to create a story for parkgoers to puzzle through, and honestly, it would probably enhance the experience of going to the park by a lot, because suddenly everyone is looking at the scenery around them and thinking about and therefore coming to appreciate the history of the park.
