The problem with mid length and long tube headers is you may not pass emissions inspection without the proper catalytic converter system. I think if you want to have the best of both worlds, that is, changing the exhaust note in demand but still abke to run quietly most of the time, installation of Valvetronic mufflers with electrically operated bypass valves is the way to go. Also, I've heard mixed results with splitting the cooling systems. From a technical perspective it makes sense, but from a practical sense it may do no better at cooling the intake air. Upgrading to the larger intercooler is a must.

I have the MKULTRA sequential tune for my e55, it does not make the car sequentially fast like a full blown race car, but for the race track (road course) it is warp speed compared to a stock system.

Nice video! I’m thinking of doing long tube headers with w211 E63 mufflers, as I’ve heard they’re more of a direct fit and you don’t have to modify the hangers like C63 mufflers. Also Since I’m not touching pulleys yet and just doing headers, do you think I’ll be fine with just an upgraded pump, upgraded primary and secondary heat exchangers without split cooling/ice tank?
@MCLAPRO22 жыл бұрын
Also look forward to your TCU tune review, I’m looking into the TJ Merry TCU as well :)
@remix40542 жыл бұрын
yes you'll be fine with out splitting cooling but you'll want to eventually do it. whenever you upgrade the pulley it helps with recovery times. and yes the w211 e63 mufflers are a direct bolt on if you can find a set I've been on the hunt for some but yet to come across a set.
@evogt87022 жыл бұрын
I would highly recommend you do the split cooling. You'll be fine for now but honestly there is a reason most supercharged cars have two cooling systems. It is definitely worth it.

Must be nice. Can’t find one in my area that meets all criteria. I hope you treat that car with the respect it deserves. It’s okay not to know everything about a car, and respectable to admit so. But if you don’t completely understand the car you’ve just purchased and it’s soon to be rarity, I suggest you do your research on the subject. The E55 is one of the best AMGs to ever be released and was way ahead of its time. I do not mean to sound like an asshole, I just want to make sure you know what you have and treat it accordingly. These engines can live as long as a Toyota if they’re properly maintained and cared for. Also, if this is your first fast car, leave it stock for a few months. It is a quick car stock. If you just go all out on mods first month or two of ownership, you will hardly tell the difference and become jaded, wanting more from a car that you’ve already squeezed the most out of. Enjoy your E55 man, you’re one lucky mf!

Just make sure you get a PPI as those CLs have the ABC suspension and can get very costly if stuff goes wrong.

@@evogt8702 there is one near me (3 hours away) for $14,000 2005 CL55 around 71,000miles. The previous owner got it in December 2021. It's super tempting
@bobsagit102 жыл бұрын
@@mikechan2044 as someone who’s owned multiple 55s don’t focus on mileage focus on maintenance history… most importantly is that the car has been driven regularly and maintained regularly in the last 5 years. ABC cars especially need to be driven often and suspension used or they will clog valve blocks. I’ve owned a 210,000 mile s55 back in 2014. Car was maintained meticulously by previous owner. Car was lightly modified did 203 mph in my ownership. Low mileage in my experience does not mean lower chance of problems especially on ABC cars I would 1000% recommend a cl55 tho I believe they are the most unique looking and the no B pillar is beautiful. CLS 55 is by far the best handling of the Kompressor cars tho.
@mikechan20442 жыл бұрын
@@bobsagit10 wow 😲 that is crazy For me personally. If the ABC fails. I'm gonna switch to coilovers. But if it works? I'm going to continue changing the filter/fuild using FCP Euro. Also I just want a clean unmolested one? The ones on the market are either beat? 120k miles (Seats Torn, scratches everywhere AND STILL WANT 16K) The market is kinda wonky right now. But I am looking for the Right one. The W215 Looks amazing. I love it
@bobsagit102 жыл бұрын
@@mikechan2044 I would not ever under any circumstance replace ABC suspension with coilovers. On airmatic cars like the CLS or E the car has sway bars so coilovers can do the job of airmatic struts and the car will handle better.. However the S, CL, and SL do not have sway bars the Active Body Control does the job of traditional strut and spring suspension as well as the job of a sway bar. Replacing ABC with coilovers does the job of traditional strut and spring but does not make up for the car not having a sway bar. I have driven SL55 with coilovers and the car does not handle confidentially without a sway bar. On an S or CL I can’t imagine how bad that would feel. Cars especially cars as heavy as S class and CL need a sway bar. If you are intimidated by ABC suspension I’d recommend a CLS or E class instead. Where are you located? In the Pacific Northwest there’s good clean s55 and cl55 for 10,000-13000. I bought my 150,000 mile e55 for 13 last October in Seattle

Long headers are fine except you have to remove the cats. So if you live somewhere with emissions tests, you're gonna fail.
@jasonbourne6626 Жыл бұрын
That’s incorrect. With the proper size cats they fit right in there and no smog issues. The real issue is the smog test in itself. This is just a money grab. Doesn’t do anything to safe the world. I’m saying this because I run LTH with metal cats in my E55. :)

MK Ultra is the worst tune you can buy. I have personally sent the software to an AMG software application developer and he told me how bad the tune is for your entire transmission. If you want to destroy your tranny, keep using it was his comment.
@evogt8702 Жыл бұрын
I’ve had the tune for a year and a half now and I beat the crap out of the car. Transmission has never had one issue. Everyone that builds these cars uses TJ Merry. If it was bad no one would use him. Ofc you can have your opinion I’m just saying I’ve never had one issue with it
@Bastard_Operator_From_Hell Жыл бұрын
@@evogt8702 nowhere have I said it’s damaging a trans overnight. I understand you don’t have a clue what this software from this fool TJ Mary does. I don’t fault you for that. Not a bit. You’re just an end user who likes this stuff bc everyone (except the ones who know more and care more including myself) uses it as you said. If you invest some time besides making videos and driving the shit out of the car you might learn a few things. Ask a reputable tuner to dissect his junk software and let him explain to you what the maps do and you’ll understand. I really wanted to open your eyes a little bit, not attack you. I was posting here because I do know and I did try to let you know not to use this crap bc I value all E55s including yours. Not too many are out there anymore since people crash them on a daily occurrence. He’s a scammer just like Philip Latelli running his VRP Chinese junk shit drop off business from his mother’s basement. Btw I’m driving a tuned TCU that runs software from the days they developed the car (developed by MB just never made it into production cars) and it has the same quick shifts without the harshness. It also still has all the failsafes included which Mary removed. Has he told you he did? The trans will literally kill itself instead of going into limp mode to safe you and itself. ;) Another reason not to use his software. I truly wish you all the best. May the trans survive the ridiculous beating from the TCU. I would even meet you and let you experience it next time we come to Vegas.
